- I'm absolutely loving the Galactic Contention mod for Squad right now, and in this round we see the Grand Army of the Republic, better known as the Clone Army, up against the Separatist Droids of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. It all takes place on Yavin 4, home to that famous Rebel base which launched the attacks to take out the Death Star, and man does this map look amazing!

If modders can make a Star Wars mod this good, I can't wait till another group of modders do the Warhammer 40K universe.
They was one named "death and duty" but it was remote from steam workshop, I don't know why and then no information on it. But looking at the policy of game workshop today, I guess that they will not allow a free mod so good on this game for a while😥

Love the GC content! It would be awesome if you did one on the Sesid map. It’s gotten a lot of love from the Devs & looks amazing. Also, one of the invasion layers has the last cap point on a capitol ship in the sky. It makes a super cool BF2142 Titan Mode experience. After you’ve capped all the points on the ground, you’ve got to load up in HMPs and assault the hanger. Then fight through dense hallways all the way to the control room. It’s REALLY fun & a very unique squad experience.
I know there aren't that many servers right now, but I hope you continue uploading Galactic Contention in the future, thanks Moi.

I Want to see more of this on this channel. LOVED IT
IMO this mod would be a lot better without the fighter planes as they can be super glitchy and bounce on stuff and instead just have air transports . I think this mod really shines with ground warfare with amazing vehicles and infantry as the character modules and vehicle variants are amazing as well as the base building and commander abilities.
Couldn't agree with this any more. The combat air vehicles get away with way too much. Just a single, good pilot can dominate the entirety of a match from the sheer firepower, speed, and resilience of the vehicles.

@@blackholeFB If OWI would ever bother to fix the flight model and the stutters, it wouldn't be so bad. The ships don't have as much firepower as people think they do when it comes to CAS against infantry. Their guns don't have a huge impact splash and they won't one-shot you unless they hit you directly. I was able to hit an ARC-170 with a lucky LAT shot early while it was trying to harass us. It didn't kill him, but it sure sent him back to Main in smoke and shame.
Edit: I said ARC-130 for some reason.
Meh, ground warfare seems kinda just like a slog. The aircraft make the break in that.
Air is so easy to deal with and they nurffed them last patch everyone needs to stfu and learn to play the game #skillissue

As a droid…. Seeing a LAAT gunship drop from the clouds to personally f*** your day up is more terrifying then the helicopters in base game squad.

Just an idea from a table top senerio I did, an imperial convoy with a VIP has to push to a key point and gets ambushed by multiple rebel cells. Very limited air support and imperial forces were 3 ITT, 2 speeder bikes and a QRF of 2 AT-ST, 1 Tie fighter. with a total of 1 company of stormtroopers. Rebels have 4 modified landspeeders and 2 companies worth of infantry

I think the starfighters are way too slow and floaty. I mean technically they are able to move that way, but that's for like...landing and take off. It's so weird watching them move so slowly and fighting like it's Elite Dangerous in a dogfight when they're supposed to be way faster and fighting more like planes than flying saucers. I wonder if that's an engine limitation
I believe the game engine thinks they're helicopters, they just have a reskin
So these are most likely not Dev air vics and are our normal air vics. the dev vics (aka the dev tri/arc) do have something more akin to a true "plane" like flight ability. these however don't since the Dev vics are still a wip and need some work before being fully implanted in live play.

@@beefmaster3196 not the dev variants/ they have a mode you can toggle on and off with ctrl. ( DOES NOT WORK IN LOCAL ONLY ON SERVERS) this basically means you can't see this working in jensons range only on dedicated servers like GC
its got planetside 2 + original battlefront vibes. might have to pick up squad.
honestly the only problem I see is that the airborne stuff behave more like helicopters, yes they could hover to some degree but they only did so during landing and takeoff, they should really be more like a plane with very restricted hovering capabilities, able to hover at a certain height off the ground, like maybe 1.5 feet. otherwise they behave like a plane. granted that might not be possible due to in game physics and would be really weird for the people writing the code
It should only work when Squad adds playable airforce/jets but then that it highly unlikely.
they have flyable vehicles that behave like planes with the ability to toggle vtol on and off. the v-wing, y-wing, tri-fighter, and arc-170

As far as I know lost EA the Star Wars license so any group of developers could ask to make a game based of SW now. It would be so epic if the modders work together with Squad to create a complete Star Wars game with the Squad mechanics.
I was CIS commander lol, it was a solid bravo hold then we lost 2 squad leaders and it kinda went downhill. We had 2-3 SLs who had literally never played the game lol
