The idea of Heston voicing the Burning Bush came from Heston, himself. During their trip to the Sinai, Heston and DeMille met with the Abbot of St. Catherine’s Monastery, and Heston suggested that he should voice God. The most critical stress would come about the moment it is at a 40 degree angle. Baka wanted more sand piled higher so the drop would not be so great. When it comes down to it, we don't know a whole lot about Moses, but you're right - it's really cool to see how the Egyptians may have gone about raising these enormous obelisks. Definitely a risky venture!
Great movie except the stonework of ancient Egypt were constructed by well paid Egyptian nationals not slaves. Being a stoneworker was a family job and considered an artisan skill. The narrative from the old testament about Israelites escaping slavery in Egypt is simply conjecture. There is simply *no* archeological evidence that any Canaanite people were ever enslaved by the pharoes of the Nile. The Canaanites tribes were however a great mobile and light infantry fighting force in the Bronze Age and were used by Egyptians as mercenaries. There is some evidence that the Israelites under Moses may have been held on reserve with a flimsy contract for too long before abruptly leaving in what we know as the exodus. Their subsequent military victories are mentioned in the Bible with the conquest of Canaan (Gad, Reuben etc). Zionist and Christian propagators of this common modern myth both overlook one major element of history of this region. *Ancient Egyptians kept extensive and detailed records of Everything*. Furthermore they carved them into stone, from major historical events right down to day to day mundane details. It's all in the heiroglyphics. No Israelite slaves constructing their monuments on record.
Robert James "Ancient Egyptians kept extensive and detailed records of Everything." They also practiced damnatio memoriae - the erasure of any and all record of a person's existence - for enemies of the state and of the reigning pharaoh. Tutankhamun's heretical father, for example, was only re-discovered in the 19th Century, 3,200 years after he died. It may be that the Hebrews' captivity in Egypt was intentionally forgotten.
You mean smashed monuments and crudely chiseled off writing. Not exactly systematic or effective. A lot of relics related to that Ahkhanaten (sic) lineage were simply broken or defaced.
JustKidding91 The Bible doesn't explain which were Moses ocupations as he lived in Egypt. For this movie they decided to present him as a general of the Egyptian army and as an engineer.
Blue means remove all anchors to the stone cylinders that will allow the ropes to move the obelisk. Moses was not a slave. He was a highly regarded member of the royal family. We know so much more now than even when this movie was made. I did note the use of sand as a tool to support the obelisk and ease it into place, which is one of the methods offered by historians. Slaves may have been used instead of animals because they were considered expendable. But, that is only conjecture on my part. And, as for your comment about the Bible, I think you would be surprised how many facts are contained in its pages.

He was trying to raise it, but an obelisk is one single massive stone, so he needed to raise it without it snapping in two

Im probably the last Cockney left in Britain.
Nice to meet you geezer.
The story is fake, Egyptians don't even know the pyramids were built.
Musa
When I watch this movie I truly wonder how they were actually able to build all the things that we still see today, like the pyramids of Giza!! Despite our technological advancement we can’t duplicate anything that they built so how did they even build these great structures if we can’t do it again???
And Atum was well-pleased. =~[.]^=
OHSH ?

We’re all Hebrew Slaves!! Unless, you’re Tesla, Microsoft, and Amazon Pharoes with talents. GOD can be so sarcastic and unfair.
Very phallic … 😂
Pure Propaganda, this never happened, read the Bible. The end of the movie shows God killing the children of Israel, when it was actually Moses who killed them, and the Movie claims Moses nobly walked for 40 years, searching for the promised land, when in fact Moses murdered, raped and stole from every person he came across for 40 years, even raping children (exodus 31)

Would the world have been a better place with Moses I of Egypt instead of Moses the Prophet?
It's funny how all of those "Egyptians" look like white Americans, and everybody is speaking English instead of Coptic, or a close derivative of that language. Not realistic at all!
So talented but unfortunate slaves maybe not from Asia .
...as if the Pharaohs of that time would act mild towards insubordination from their slaves.
Tom- since when did we start looking to Hollywood for historical facts? (or the bible for that matter?)
All this time I was under the impression you were an educator- sure it's not indoctrination you are about?
My dear rationalist, I am sharing this PURELY for the purpose of students being able to see how the Egyptians would have erected massive obelisks with the limited technology available to them. Please disregard the dialogue... Now that I think about it, maybe I should have muted it!

My apologies- I get wiggy on little sleep and I have pulled a few all nighters of late.
***** I believe that we all get that way now and then. No worries!

Thanks for the generosity- I am an insomniac that spends all night immersed in internet forums learning and talking electronics. I also do the occasional politics and religion thing too in case you may have not noticed my penchant for anti-revisionist sentiment. ;)
Let me know when you want to learn how to fly... I'll make ya famous!
I like the movie...a classic however.......this raising that obelisk that is a joke. Please.carvings clearly show GIANTS picking it up. Ok
This is blasphemous.
Shut the fuck up!
its ok but full of lies!!
In my top 3
I saw this done on a small scale it worked just as depicted!
