*I LOVED THIS MOVIE!* I used to watch it over and over as a child. I just loved the story of Moses and this movie was so beautiful, the acting, the design (I liked ancient Egyptian history) so seeing the costumes was great but the story was why I rewatched this movie over and over.

I don't know how many times I've seen this movie and I must say that I love it. I'm not a believer but I respect other people's beliefs, but I must say that I love it.

Seen the movie, incredible sets and acting. About those 10.... do they have historical basis in Archeology, other than what information that might be in the Bible, Torah, or some other source? I watched, a couple of decades back now, a documentary that I watched with Mom, we lived in the same city at that time and once in a while I would drop by to see how she was doing. She had satellite TV. Anyway, that documentary was given by an Archeologist, that was associated with a University that I can't recall the name of, doing work in the what is now the Eastern Sinai which was pretty informative. There apparently were some religious splinter groups living there and several knew how to write in early Hebrew. This last bit was a real surprise (at least to me as I did not know at the time what a big deal knowing how to read and write was such a deal back then, or even now) and tracing the various writing styles was the main focus of this particular Archeologist. All of this occurred more or less at the same time that Jericho was going strong and was pre-Moses, if memory serves, or the historical time that Moses was supposed to have lived. Tracking how and where the alphabet emerged from the mixing of the cultures located at the cited place, speaking very roughly. What this fellow stumbled across was that several of these splinter religious groups that had their own versions of the 10 Commandments written down on stone. This last finding was unexpected and stopped, for a summer or two, the search for information about would would become the Phonecam alphabet. One of the major accomplishments of humans, according to this documentary. Right up there with learning how to control fire, apparently. Boggle, huh?

I always find it odd that we never get to hear the Egyptian side of the story?! Ever notice that all major religions portray themselves as victims! Think about it.

The Egyptian side is plain to see. They were the greatest slave empire in the world for centuries. Even their own histories admit this. It was a point of pride, and they were truly mighty. That does not mean that all Egyptians were evil, but any man who stands atop the bodies of slaves as they build rich temples to serve as their crypts absolutely is evil. @@douglashogg4848 you may be correct. I don’t take these stories literally. I look at them metaphorically. I only bring up the other side of the story as a reminder that there’s usually two sides of every story!
The Egyptian side is plain to see. They were the greatest slave empire in the world for centuries. Even their own histories admit this. It was a point of pride, and they were truly mighty.
That does not mean that all Egyptians were evil, but any man who stands atop the bodies of slaves as they build rich temples to serve as their crypts absolutely is evil.
Do people act like Rome, or Ancient China was benevolent? No. Because they were (and in China’s case still are) ruled by evil, spiteful, and wicked men.
