Hey Andy, my name is Robert Finlay, I'm a gunsmith, and I do checkering for gunstocks. You have the right idea, you just need to keep those lines straight and slowly curl the checkering tool with the blade into the cut using the previous line as a guide. I would have easily been there for over a day just checkering. You need to use the fine toothed checkering tool to get the lines deeper(no flat tops.) And a checkering jig is also handy for getting your pieces into position so you aren't hunched over all the time.

Goll dang the one thing I love about your videos is that it's not this glamorous work shop (it IS one hell of a shop) with brand new Powermatic everything with squeaky clean surfaces. This is a REAL working man's shop with dust and shavings and old dried epoxy left in your mixing cup. I appreciate the "raw"-ness of your videos.

Love your table saw ! Great platform ! Awesome buckle Andy. Neat idea ! When I broke my neck I lost a lot of hand/eye control. I do admire yours for sure. What a great Gaw my talented friend. This is the first time I have seen inletting. Great piece as usual fella ! !

Stellar quality video (as always), as well as outcome of the buckle. These videos are like therapy.

I love it! The product placement was very tastefully done. I especially thought the opening cut in the saw with their logo was cool.

I jumped on this video for that diamond pattern. I've always wanted to do this like the ones on the stock of a weapon. Nice job brother!

That is a really good way to practice your checkering without screwing up your rifle stocks, ha.
