A very enjoyable review Dr Dan, thank you so much! Sinead O'Connor was able to fully express herself through her art, and was unafraid of consequences. What artistic freedom. Definitely made her stand out from the rest . RIP
gracias por esto..ella en vivo era surrealista....cada presentacion era distinta a la anterior..por eso eran intreprpretaciones unicas...sus albumes son una obra maestra cada uno de ellos..por sus letras y su voz...jamas podra ser igualada...❤
Hello Thanks for the reaction ;) New subscriber, If I may suggest please try reacting to 4 Sisters from the Philippines called 4th Impact singing ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ (So Hyang Version) [FORTE CONCERT 2021] thanks.
What you said about the painting is what I've always thought Sinead does with that song. Her connection to it is so intense that everything she throws out just makes sense. She does what she wants and things fall where she wants them to fall and with the emotion she wants to convey. She manipulates us and makes us feel what she wants us to feel. I like how her body helps her sing, she's not stressed or in a hurry. It's incredible.
I completely agree with you. Sinead's connection to the song is truly profound. Her performance is so raw and genuine that every nuance she brings out resonates deeply. She has an extraordinary ability to control the narrative and emotion, guiding us to feel exactly what she intends. Her use of her body while singing adds to this, reflecting a relaxed and confident approach. It's indeed incredible to witness such artistry.
She was at a place in her life at this moment where she could physically , intentionally end phrases with that ' vocal flip' at the end ... ( yodle squeek ) Think THIS performance has the most ... in one song ... So unique to her style ...
Other great performances would be Troy at the Dominion Theater, John I Love You on the Jon Stewart Show and Fire on Babylon from 2002(3?) live in Dublin. Great points on tension and mic choice.
This is truly one of the most amazing vocal performances I have ever seen. I always knew of Sinead, and this song, but only relatively recently found this performance. I had never seen her live, but this was stunning. A true, true artist. You mention at the end enjoying seeing artsist that sometime play with the tension. I suggest checking out Japanese artist LiSA on the First Take. Homura especially, but also Gurenge or Unlasted. She does some pretty amazing things with tension and release. First Take has subtitles under the CC.
she has many great songs and performances that get overlooked because of this song. Check out Troy which is her best song in my opinion - th-cam.com/video/Y-wFVB0seoc/w-d-xo.html
Does it make a difference what mic you choose to use on a sea-level super-dry cold night in Chile? Thats a very unusual setting. Speaking of the mic used vs a condenser you mentioned.
You want to use a condenser mic live in concert. Very difficult with a band lol. You can practice the techniques all you like it's good. But to sing like her you have practiced and now must not think you must just sing. She's not trying. She's not thinking about her pitch her tone let me do this technique, let me use a lilt here or glottal stop here, whisper here, vibrato here, belt here. She has no idea about anything your saying. Apparently none of these things ever affected her voice. Don't tell student to be careful. Most won't make it anyway. If you can blow out your voice for one song that the world loves and then you've accomplished your goal to make someone feel something.
What a wonderful analysis to a wonderful singer. Thank you for covering Sinead I hope you will do more Sinead.
