Fun fact: the lead vocalist wrote this song after losing his favorite watch. My mind was blown when I first heard this song and read this fact. The lyrics are so deep and poignant. We all interpret art in our own perspective and take what we care from it. This proves that the artists original concepts and intentions are rarely what fans and spectators interpret. I have so many thoughts and memories tied to this song from 2002-2006.

I was never that big of a fan of Heavy metal 2k. Its spirit wasn't as nostalgic feeling as the original Heavy Metal. BUT... the MUSIC was fucking amazing! This is still one of my favorites, along with Psychosexy and Hit Back.

I had this discussion before with some other people. One guy said that the first album (Opium) is the only one that is close to Industrial. Some other guy said that "WDYKD?" was a groundbreaking record for the Industrial genre and for future Industrial. What I think is, that KMFDM changed the definition of the Industrial Genre. It's like the difference to 1st wave ska and 3rd wave ska. It's both ska, but it has a different sound to it. I think KMFDM is more like a more modern form of Industrial.

I use to own Heavy Metal 2k soundtrack it was cool they did make another movie after so many years after the first one kevin eastman did the comic for the magazine Heavy Metal FAKK2 i liked it a lot but the first one is the best i know my mom still has the album on vinyl from 1980 a year after i was born i was 1 year's old when the first came out i hope they make another movie soon just like the first with different stories in it not just one long story like tge second one maybe they can bring it out soon for 34th anniversary but its just wishful thinking on my part

The problem with not labeling things is, that after a while, people don't know what music it is. And then they just label it something they think it is. Just look at Green Day. Everybody nowadays thinks that they make punk, but they are the exact opposite of punk.
I also like labels, because if I want to listen to simular artists. I just look for the genres. I'm not a person that likes every song just because it has synths in it or rap ,or guitars.

Labels are not bad per se. In fact, they're a significant part of language and communication, and the ability to label and categorize different objects/concepts is a trait of intelligence. For examples, red and blue are different colors, apples and oranges are different fruits, rock and pop are different music genres, etc. Do you see where I'm going with this? I really feel like mdfmk was the finish line for KMFDM. Everything they've done since is fine, and there are even plenty of bangers, but its all victory lap stuff.
Sounds silly considering their post-mdfmk catalog is voluminous enough to rival what had come before, but they really settled into their thing, and all of it fails to excite me quite like anything that had been previously released.

This is true for anything, there's even a saying that goes "the 90% of everything is bullshit". Without the 100% of dubstep you would miss the 10% of GOOD dubstep. Of course. But when 3DRealms was making Prey in 1997, KMFDM was doing the soundtrack. Then the deal didn't go through because Scott Miller only paid KMFDM 2/3 of the agreed sum, but when this song was released in 2000, Sascha Konietzko revealed it was meant for Prey.

@firebrandX the lineup is completely different now than it ever was.
It's a pity IMO, the older lineups were alot better. KMFDM made their best work before WWII (that's what I think)
The KMFDM live shows are now based on that everyone is playing their instument.
That means all the songs have to have at least 2 guitarists one drummer and most of them feature Lucia.

That wasn't my point, I simply meant that with music, I don't like to try and label it. I just think people should take it for what it is instead of comparing it to try and fit it into a certain category. That's a way in which things become stale, and even words become a little vague.
