Lovely vid, really clear and explains why I like taking cars to a mechanic nowadays! Back on my MkII escort, they put thermostats somewhere sensible, where you didn't need the skills of a gynecologist to change them :) Great video, proper useful and well shot. Well explained too. Off to my local car store for rubber grease and pipe clip pliers, things I didn't know I needed until now.
Thank you for you kind words an suport of the channel.
Hi Marty. I changed the heat resistor because my heat doesn't get as hot anymore and I've not really seen any improvement. The blowers give strong air out through the circular vents but when i change to the windscreen vent it's very weak. My coolant is a stable level and is not thick like gunge. Someone recommended to change the thermostat for this issue. Would you agree, worth the hassle?
So what I would do is start the car from cold and as the engine walms up you shuld feel all the coolant hoses and engine walm up except the top water hose that hoes to the radiator, if that hose walms up with the engine then your thermostat is stuck open causing the engine to run cold, hope this helps
Mate, you could not have made this any clearer. Many thanks
Thank you for your feedback I'm glad i could help.
Do you need the gasket aswell?
It comes with the new housing, but I would not recommend taking it apart and not replacing it.
@Martysworkshop so you don't need a new gasket when your replacing the plastic housing and thermostat?
The thermostat seals the one side and the new housing will come with a new seal for the other side, if it doesn't the you need to get one.
@Martysworkshop Thank-you really appreciate it
What year Ford Fusion did you do this on
Is a 2006,
