Are you able to connect a Bluetooth device that doesn't use its own app to connect? Specifically im trying to connect a elm327 obd2, the app is torque pro. Or what app can i use to connect the obd2 to the head unit
Yes. I have commented on your other comments. If it's Gen 5 open the Bluetooth app on the radio and click the link icon. Wait for the OBD device to show then select it. If it's a Gen 6 or XL open the Bluetooth app on the radio. Select the link option. Press add new device. Locate the OBD device and select it. After selecting open the Torq app and in there select the connected OBD for the app to use.
@@jmbuschman1 I cant say. If you watch the video I talk about that. Some apps work perfect, some not all the way. Others not at all. So in theory yes it is possible. But if it’s not one we have tried ourselves I cannot say for sure.
just installed T5 in my Jeep the mic does not work on the car play, I double check that it is plugged in the mic in the back, I'm I missing a mute button or something?

So I don’t think you will get a Bluetooth remote synced. You will probably need to use a USB version. To pair Bluetooth you can try syncing it in the same place as you would a phone.
Good video, I have the gen 5 but how do I get wireless Carplay? I'm currently using a dongle connected to the "Phone Link" USB cable. If there is a way to get native wireless Carplay, please let me know.

@@LinksWellInc I got it figured out but once I connect to the WiFi Hot spot of the Gen 5 system, I no longer have access to TH-cam or other Internet features as I did when I was connected to my truck's WiFi Hot Spot. Still, Apple CarPlay does work well on the radio hot spot. Currently, I'm having an issue with updating as each time I download the update, and attempt to install, I always get a message the download is corrupted. Going on my fifth time, currently - and it takes forever to download. Also, I have to connect to my home wifi to update as the Hot Spot in my truck works for internet but not on updates.
@@MikeBMW so Wireless CarPlay uses both Bluetooth and WiFi to connect and control. So you won’t be able to do both wireless CarPlay and WiFi unless you continue to use the dongle which adds a second WiFi chip into the mix. That is just the way Apple CarPlay works. You may need to update the ZLYNK app if CarPlay isn’t working correctly. I have a video on here as well about how to update the ZLYNK app. If you are trying to run the radio APP update the factory WiFi will not allow you to connect to our server so you are correct you have to use a different WiFi source. How strong is your signal? You may need to try a WiFi source you can get a signal from to be sure it doesn’t have issues downloading the update.

@@LinksWellInc Interestingly, when I hot spot my iPhone, it shows no updates on each item (though it connects to the server just fine at the initial check.) However, when I connect to my house WiFi, it says there is an App update and an MCU update. Any thoughts?
It’s the way the app is launching. Only way to zoom back in is to squeeze your fingers on the screen to shrink the video into letter box format. So a wide hand. Drag in from opposite corners of the screen and the video show fit the size of the screen adding letter boxes.

Will sound quality be affected in a 2016 f150? i just bought the gen 5 linkswell but was informed my sound quality will be lower
You shouldn’t lose sound quality. The built in amplifier and EQ is better the the factory one.

Why not allow for a secondary USB bluetooth transceiver? the AOSP drivers support this kind of hardware. then you could pair anything.

Please help! When I’m on the phone Bluetooth will switch to “localhost” and then no one can hear me and they end up hanging up.
