Help Help - just purchased Mavic Mini in August. Last week, we went thru the same procedures to connect the RC via my iphone. Mini was turned on. An error message 'RC not connect to mobile'.' displayed on my iphone. What was wrong with the RC ? any help in resolving this issue is very much appreciated
Great beginner drone and definitely not too advanced. The benefit to this is that it is crazy stable, has a 3 axis gimbal which is better for video, and has a legit camera that can produce amazing results for the price. The mini is also comes with a free extra batter and case right now: bhpho.to/2YrbEIw
Hi Dan, thanks for the great video, I'm currently planning a 1000 mile cycling journey, what's the best light weight drone I can take in my backpack with a follow me mode?
I crashed my Phantom 3 and debating whether to try and fix it (I think it needs a new ESC board). Or just go ahead and get the mini - I like the idea of a steathly drone I can pull out of my pocket
Yeah, I'd have a hard time wanting to fix the P3 given how portable these new ones are. The only issue is that the mini will have more issues with wind vs your P3 otherwise it might even be an upgrade in most areas lol
Great Video! I have had my Mini for about a month now and love it. I am defiantly getting the ND filters. My question is, what software do you use for Post-production?
They couldn't add that if they wanted to keep it under 250g and keep the price down, if they did add those it wouldn't be this price and put alot of first time drone flyers off, if you need that function then this drone clearly isnt aimed at you.
The Zerotech Dobby is a smaller drone than the DJI Mini with a 4k camera, EIS and tracking. It's an older drone with a very low price, It has some limitations, but it might work for you. I have one. It's pocketable and works in a pinch for quick videos and pictures.
Hi Dan, here in India a drone under 250g does not need to be registered. I was confused between the Mini and the Air since the Air provides RAW images but after seeing your review and this video I feel the SOOC footage/images you get this drone is simply amazing. Just ordered my flymore combo on amazon yesterday. Thank you for the amazing content!
Excellent review. Does it have a viable chase feature? I'd want it mostly for snowboarding, and it would be fantastic if it could follow, or at least do waypoints.

Hi, nice video. I'm new to the drone world. I flew my mini for the first time today. Everything was default except I went in and changed to 2.7k/30 fps. The video wasn't as nice as what I have been seeing on all these TH-cam vids. I know the file that is saved on my phone is a cache file and I've heard not as good. Is the video saved on the micro SD card in the drone better image quality or does that make a difference.? I lost my adapter to watch it so thats why I haven't been able to check it yet. Thanks .
I have the air 2 and it is small but not so small that it fits in your pocket. At under half the weight and smaller size would this be something that you would buy if you hade the air 2? And also how is the noise compared to the air 2?
I’m 16 and wanting to fly a simple drone, I know the brand is good but could you do a tutorial on how to do a cinematic shot on this drone for beginners?
Thank u so much, i wasnt sure about the mavic mini because Of that auto exposure because all the reviews were from couple months ago, but your just popped on my recommended TH-cam site and now i wont hesitate about this drone thank u ❤️
Appreciate it! Yeah unfortunately you can't update videos so making new content and hoping the right people see it is the best option. Glad it actually worked out lol!
Its a lot better now. I was thinking the same I saw a lot of negative comments and reviews on that subject. I have no issues with the exposure what so ever. People will disagree with me here but definately get some cheap nd filters and dial them so you understand what one to use for different lighting and things on the day For example today I used a nd 32 PL polarising filter and pretty much every review I've seen says they dont work and you have to turn the dial on the lenses etc. I just fitted it onto the gimbal hit take off and the river Thames looks so clear its unreal. Its took the glare off lovely.
I should add yeah if you just use auto exposure then it is still ok but you will see it change as the lighting changes. I feel that if someone buys this to take some decent footage with or pictures there going to use manual mode. It's a bit like if you get a new phone a lot of people change the settings. Theres only that one guy who is like how comes my pictures are crap? Hes the one in auto mode :'D
The full breakdown should be out next week when I have the actual Air 2 in!!! For now I'd say if this is just for having fun and trying to film/take random pictures from the air, the Mavic Mini is perfect for that. But if you would like this to be a genuine photography or video tool, definitely step up to the Air 2!
Extremely well considering how small it is however anything over about 15-20mph I wouldn't fly in. For that the heavier and more powerful Air 2 would be best
Do you think this would be good enough quality to shoot the outside of a home with land ? I'm back and forth between the mavic mini and the mavic air 2, help lol
The Mini will definitely be good enough for this though the Air 2 takes just about every feature up a notch. Just posted a video comparing these drones so check it out! th-cam.com/video/02oAvbFsExE/w-d-xo.html
i've got one just like this one you are showing but i cant see nothing on my phone about videos or pictuire. everything is working but i can not see the picture when it is flying. can ytou tell me why please?
Just found this ,Nice info, I've had it since Christmas, bought it for the size, used it at a couple of weddings and for fun,. They are slowly updating with needed features. I think your in Orlando area, I'm in Altamonte, been doing weddings since the 90's to bad didn't have these tools back then,
No, you can't handle extreme winds over 15-20mph just because of how light it is. It's fast enough to fight the wind but I wouldn't fly it. Max height is technically 400ft but you could see range issues before hitting that
I'm still flying the hell out of my Phantom 2, but think it's time for an upgrade. It's like driving your grandfathers old Buick or something. It has served me well, it obviously has it's flaws considering it's age and technology.
Plastic is not cheap at all it is softer so it bends on impact instead of snaping. It also has avoidance sensors for the ground that it also uses as position sensors
Hi and thank you for all the great info. I got mine a week ago and did a firmware upgrade out of the box but did not get the new camera manual control that you just talked about. Did I do something wrong? Also I noticed tons of chinese filters for the mavic mini and wide price variations. Any you recommend or ones to stay away from? regards from Malta :) take care
Hey! So are you located in the US? There is a possibility availability is based on region. Also possible that DJI is doing a slow rollout on the update. Usually a decent ND filter will be about $20+ each for something like this. If you get a bad ND filter you could notice color casts so expect less accurate colors which may not even be that big of a deal. I did include my favorite right now in the video description.
@@learningcameras Hi Dan and ty. I checked and in fact the last update I did gave me all the manual features. Thanks for your advice on the filters. That's going to be my next purchase. I'm really having fun with it. I'm from Dallas but I'm retired on the island of Gozo in the Mediterranean. Amazing places for drone footage.
This was a helpful video. I'm debating between this and the Air 2. Seeing as I'm just looking to fly recreationally as a hobby and not get serious photos and video, I imagine the Mini would be my best option. Thoughts?
Dude as someone who just bought the mini... I love it. However for what the air 2 has I feel like I should have waited. The air 2 is super impressive and for under 1000 I feel like you can’t beat it. If you’re like me you’re going to fly the mini and think it’s awesome and want more. At least that’s how I’ve felt but the mini is awesome and I love it don’t get me wrong but the air 2 really has some awesome features. I plan on getting it as soon as I can tbh
I threw some options in the video description. Most of the big brands don't make them for the Mini and I suspect that is because it was more of a beginner drone and didn't allow manual video anyway so there was no need for ND's...until now
Hello Dan. Great video. I am having a few issues with the dji fly app regarding editing. When I complete a video the quality always seems to drop off ,even though I am using the high quality file. Am I doing something wrong?
Hey I can buy the regular mavic pro from 2017 for $400 or I can buy the new mini. Which one would you recommend for getting slightly epic b roll shots from a sail boat? Cheers
Why is the picture smaller then the screen? It was full screen before, now there is 1-1,5 cm black on each side (when flying and watching video in app)... Just like in your video. And it wasn't like that before. It's so backwards... :(
I just bought the dji mavic mini to film cars for a dealership would i have to get a commercial license to film there inventory? I would appreciate it if somone responded im really stressing over this. THX😊
I believe it's 18mph though keep in mind ground wind speeds are usually less than at 100+ft in the air and filming in those speeds wouldn't be advisable. Some of the larger drones can make it 25+
I heard the propeller guards make it over the weight for non registration in usa.so companies should make them lighter in (about a year)because never before buyers would rather not buy one because too much money to not be able to use a nice propeller gaurd accessory.what kind of accessory option is that?companies will make 3 axis gimble lighter(in a year)i can wait.this was my pick untill the no propeller guards rule
I haven't used one yet just because it was pointless before this update so I never purchased it but I'm assuming these companies created a decent attachment
Howsit Dan, one of the few great genuine videos out there. Great job, and thank you. I do have a Mavic mini, and now I want to buy a good camera. I'm not a professional photographer, just starting a hobby. Wanted to ask your advise on a good camera around 700usd?
Thanks! So you are going to be pushing the limits of a good camera at $700 if that needs to include lenses so check out the Sony ZV-1 all in one camera: bhpho.to/2MxuiJf It gets advertised as a vlogger camera but it is actually better for general shooting than vlogging in my opinion lol
$499 gets you 2 extra batteries, a 3-battery charging hub, propeller cages, and carrying case. It's well worth the extra $100 over the basic drone and controller.
It's been decades since I've seen a Jheri curl, so thanks for that. Also, I just bought a Mavic Mini and this is another video that reinforces that I made a great purchase. Can't wait to get it finally.

I actually do that pretty much all the time. The only time I shoot native 24p is for people especially when talking which obviously almost never happens with a drone haha

This will be a bit better quality with video just because of the newer processing but if you really wanted an upgrade to that, you will want this drone: th-cam.com/video/I3FcmeG-uRg/w-d-xo.html
I am wanting to use this drone for interior real estate. I have the phantom 4 for stills exterior.
I am new to video. My question is that I notice a wiggling, on the video its on the edges, and notice looking around the house.. Not use why. I noticed it was worse using 1080p, instead of 4k. hope you can help me. would like to use this for inside house.

Would this be a good beginner drone or is it to advanced? what sets it apart from the cheaper models that look like it like the holystone hs720
As a first drone between Mavic Mini and Mavic Air, Which one should i get?
No follow me update yet?
I forgot to ask, are you able to do the manual settings on quick shot and other modes?
Does it have active track ?
No, have to jump up to the Mavic Air 2 for that
Hi Dan, thanks for the great video, I'm currently planning a 1000 mile cycling journey, what's the best light weight drone I can take in my backpack with a follow me mode?
I crashed my Phantom 3 and debating whether to try and fix it (I think it needs a new ESC board). Or just go ahead and get the mini - I like the idea of a steathly drone I can pull out of my pocket
Yeah, I'd have a hard time wanting to fix the P3 given how portable these new ones are. The only issue is that the mini will have more issues with wind vs your P3 otherwise it might even be an upgrade in most areas lol
Changing an esc is easy and costs next to nothing
Really love the new one! Still got a chance to fly it a bit outside?
Can this drone be set up to fly in first person?
With a little practice you can start and land the mini in your hand. No need for a landing pad. Of course you have to be careful
Do dji shop website support other countries??
Great Video! I have had my Mini for about a month now and love it. I am defiantly getting the ND filters. My question is, what software do you use for Post-production?
Awesome! I personally use Adobe Premiere
@@learningcameras Thanks! I have that on my work computer but have not used it much. I may start practicing with it with my drone vids. Thanks again!
randy cupps look into LumaFusion, it’s amazing... IOS super friendly
@@coolestafrican1444 thanks!!!
Try iMovie if you have iOS then work your way up from there👍
The only thing I miss on this drone is the active track function. I would buy it instantly if it had that.
Shit... bought it 🤦🏻 While the Air2 isn’t what I wished for. To big, no ADS-B version in Europe 🤷♂️
Yep. Me too.
I would buy as a gift for others at this price range too - if it had tracking
They couldn't add that if they wanted to keep it under 250g and keep the price down, if they did add those it wouldn't be this price and put alot of first time drone flyers off, if you need that function then this drone clearly isnt aimed at you.
What would be a good small drone with tracking
The Zerotech Dobby is a smaller drone than the DJI Mini with a 4k camera, EIS and tracking. It's an older drone with a very low price, It has some limitations, but it might work for you. I have one. It's pocketable and works in a pinch for quick videos and pictures.
Question: Will adding an ND filter bring it overweight? 0.1 of a gram over in Canada will get you in trouble.
Awesome!!! Hope you enjoy the drone!
Excellent review. Does it have a viable chase feature? I'd want it mostly for snowboarding, and it would be fantastic if it could follow, or at least do waypoints.
Thanks! So the mini does not have a good chase features...you would want the Mavic Air 2 for that: th-cam.com/video/I3FcmeG-uRg/w-d-xo.html
@@learningcameras Greatly appreciate you taking the time to reply. In your opinion/experience, are any of the cheaper brands actually worth considering?
@@m3dbs No prob. So not really. The only other drone I like the Parrot Anafi and I don't love it. Autel has some good ones but they are $1k+
@@learningcameras Much appreciated man. Guess I'll save some pennies till I can get the right one. Would it be worth it to go for the Mavic Pro, over the Air?
@@m3dbs Definitely go for the Air 2. It's actually better than the pro in most ways and there are very few people that would benefit from the Pro. The air 2 comes with a ton of free extras right now as well : bhpho.to/2XMfpYz
Hey man, does the new update work with the samsung galaxy S10?
Mavic Mini is the master piece of drone engineering. Waiting for testing mine outside... Awesome shots and review👍
Thanks .
You can download video through the app. Straight from drone in to the phone. You don't need adapter.
Yes, the video stored on the SD card is much better quality than the cached video on your phone.
I have the air 2 and it is small but not so small that it fits in your pocket. At under half the weight and smaller size would this be something that you would buy if you hade the air 2? And also how is the noise compared to the air 2?
I have never used the Mini since getting the air 2 personally...literally not once
@@learningcameras Ok, thanks for the answer.
I’m 16 and wanting to fly a simple drone, I know the brand is good but could you do a tutorial on how to do a cinematic shot on this drone for beginners?
HarryjHamm 1567 don’t watch a tutorial. Learn yourself. That’s what I did and I get better shots than people who just watch tutorials
People will disagree with me here but definately get some cheap nd filters and dial them so you understand what one to use for different lighting and things on the day
For example today I used a nd 32 PL polarising filter and pretty much every review I've seen says they dont work and you have to turn the dial on the lenses etc.
Mavic mini vs Mavic air 2? Thanks for the awesome vid.
I'd like to get one and use this for filming golf vlogs. I live in a relatively windy area. How does the Mini handle winds?
Extremely well considering how small it is however anything over about 15-20mph I wouldn't fly in. For that the heavier and more powerful Air 2 would be best
@@learningcameras Ok, great! Thanks for getting back to me. I really think the Mini is the right one for me
do you have any 1080p at 60 fps clips ? whats it loook like ?
Do you think this would be good enough quality to shoot the outside of a home with land ? I'm back and forth between the mavic mini and the mavic air 2, help lol
The Mini will definitely be good enough for this though the Air 2 takes just about every feature up a notch. Just posted a video comparing these drones so check it out!
th-cam.com/video/02oAvbFsExE/w-d-xo.html
i've got one just like this one you are showing but i cant see nothing on my phone about videos or pictuire. everything is working but i can not see the picture when it is flying. can ytou tell me why please?
Is the cable plugged into the phone from the controller?
will the price of dji mavic mini drop after 4 to 5 years latter your views
Just found this ,Nice info, I've had it since Christmas, bought it for the size, used it at a couple of weddings and for fun,. They are slowly updating with needed features. I think your in Orlando area, I'm in Altamonte, been doing weddings since the 90's to bad didn't have these tools back then,
is it possible to stream with this drone
or to send the signal to OBS ?
No
Does it have obstacle avoidance?
Nope, no sensors for that since they needed to keep the weight limit down
It has two sensors on the bottom for landing, don’t know if they work actively but they do respond to my hand when I wave it under
Is this a good beginner drone?
does it fly under strong wind?
About 18mph is the limit. Keep in mind wind speeds in the air are usually faster than on the ground
Can this drone handle mountain tops wind? can we manually maneuver it ? maximum height it can reach?
Thanks for posting man I am leaning this way for bike packing setup due to price and weight
These are popping up online for sale around me for 200-300 dollars USD. I think I am gonna get one!
There’s nothing wrong with having both at least that’s what I Convinced my wife of 😉
Dear Watson, we also love the Mavic Mini and have a small travel waistbag for it. Would you be interested in reviewing it?
I am curious as to which ND filters you recommend.
So I've never tried to edit using the app but I assume they would not be able to edit the full bitrate videos which would explain the quality drop off
@@learningcameras . Ah I see. That would make sense. I might try doing them on my PC to see if I get some better results. Thanks for the help.
My main issue when editing with the app is it doesn't have undo option. I hope they include this in a future update?
Hey I can buy the regular mavic pro from 2017 for $400 or I can buy the new mini. Which one would you recommend for getting slightly epic b roll shots from a sail boat? Cheers
I guess I should add that I plan to sail around the world and will most likely be in quite a few countries. Probably not Canada for a while tho. Lol
I worry about taking off from a boat given the limited range and capabilities for flying in higher winds. Otherwise it's an awesome drone
Why is the picture smaller then the screen? It was full screen before, now there is 1-1,5 cm black on each side (when flying and watching video in app)... Just like in your video. And it wasn't like that before. It's so backwards... :(
Has a "Follow Me" mode been added?
Mine flew away with the new update, lol Lost GPS and RC signal then crashed.
I just bought the dji mavic mini to film cars for a dealership would i have to get a commercial license to film there inventory? I would appreciate it if somone responded im really stressing over this. THX😊
Technically you do need a commercial license to do paid work for companies
Ok thank you very much!
@@learningcameras Do you know if i would be fine if i didnt scene im only 15?
When do you think the next drone will be released???
I think we might see a upper end drone in the next 6 months but it would be $1500+
Oh ok I was wondering if you could recomend a Beginner drone as I really want to get a drone and wanted to consider the mavic mini what do you think?👍
Max allowable wind speed for dji mavic mini?
I believe it's 18mph though keep in mind ground wind speeds are usually less than at 100+ft in the air and filming in those speeds wouldn't be advisable. Some of the larger drones can make it 25+
I heard the propeller guards make it over the weight for non registration in usa.so companies should make them lighter in (about a year)because never before buyers would rather not buy one because too much money to not be able to use a nice propeller gaurd accessory.what kind of accessory option is that?companies will make 3 axis gimble lighter(in a year)i can wait.this was my pick untill the no propeller guards rule
Hi Bro can I used Live stream video on DJI mavic mini ?
I'm thinking bout getting this drone for when I go on vacation but being so small and light I'm a little worried about flyaway due to the wind..
Mavic mini can handle 15 mph winds like a champ. Wouldnt reccomend flying it out in winds more than 15mph
What app did you use
Won't the nd filter cover the camera vents?
I haven't used one yet just because it was pointless before this update so I never purchased it but I'm assuming these companies created a decent attachment
After failing the Drone Test here in Canada twice, I decided to sell my Mavic pro and buy a mavic mini. I hope I don't regret
*UPDATE* I told myself "If I failed the test one more time, I'd sell my Mavic pro." Turns out I passed it with 65%.
M4nok congratulations man! :)
@@m4nok968 Lol. Congratulations. How much is it to write the test?
Youou Tuber it's $10 per take
M4nok what do you do in the test? What are the questions about?
I now this is a question on a different subject (sorry), will you be doing a review on the Fuji X-T4?
Yep! Just got it in actually so expect a video next week or the one after most likely
@@learningcameras Great, i'm on the XT2 and trying to decide between the 3 and the 4.
Howsit Dan, one of the few great genuine videos out there. Great job, and thank you. I do have a Mavic mini, and now I want to buy a good camera. I'm not a professional photographer, just starting a hobby. Wanted to ask your advise on a good camera around 700usd?
Thanks! So you are going to be pushing the limits of a good camera at $700 if that needs to include lenses so check out the Sony ZV-1 all in one camera: bhpho.to/2MxuiJf
It gets advertised as a vlogger camera but it is actually better for general shooting than vlogging in my opinion lol
2 simple question
Is it worth to buy in 499 usd?
Do you need license to fly mavic mini?
You do not need a license to fly the Mavic Mini. $499 should be for the kit with an extra battery and more accessories
@@learningcameras thanks Man, n ur video was amazing
$499 gets you 2 extra batteries, a 3-battery charging hub, propeller cages, and carrying case. It's well worth the extra $100 over the basic drone and controller.
It's been decades since I've seen a Jheri curl, so thanks for that.
Also, I just bought a Mavic Mini and this is another video that reinforces that I made a great purchase. Can't wait to get it finally.
I'm over here in awe of the jheri juice, it's straight dripping lol
