    Leaking oil, clean up equipment, speedy-dry dust clouds on restart... ok, prob too much to ask for at this point. But should be put on the wish list for post new damg model release. My $.02

      I imagine you guys are talking about in the pit boxes, because every official race I'm in C-A oval there is collision on entry of pit road.

    • @TwistLosi
      @TwistLosi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Pit lane collisions would allow for cheating pretty much by blocking other drivers to lose time. Most people wouldn't do it but there would be some that would for sure especially if they were involved in a crash with someone earlier plus the fact if someone parks in someone else's box and that players car spawns it causes all sorts of issues, IRacing deliberately removed it for these reasons as NR2003 has pit lane collisions.

      Yeah, finally they have some features that most racing games have had for 5 years or more. Someday they might even have weather and a day/night cycle. LOL

    • @SteveSmith-fh6br
      @SteveSmith-fh6br 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. People sink hundreds of dollars into this game, then don't want to admit it was a bit of a waste. I've blown about 60 bucks, which is what I would pay for a racing sim, except what I got in iRacing was a fraction of what I'd get in another title, not to mention their engine is old and gimped.

    • @tbhausen
      @tbhausen 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Spam One man’s opinion. I have been a member of iRacing for over 10 years and I own every piece of content. Show me where you can draw an equivalency in any simulator to what you see being developed here. How about the dynamic tracks, especially dirt? I’ll wait.

    Nothing is simple or easy. Everything affects everything else, whether it's damage modelling, day to night transitions, or weather. They explain that very well in this video. You can see the complexities involved and the enormous amount of work the small number of available iRacing staff put in to effect these improvements.
    And it looks terrific. I cant wait for this and want to see more! This dedication to ultimate verisimilitude in all things is what makes iRacing a simulator, as much so as anything used to train professional pilots, for example.
    Improved damage modelling will result in a much more realistic overall experience. The energy bleed off in crashes will prevent cars from going into orbit, and I believe the commercial appeal of iRacing will also be positively affected by this.
    It's just really cool to see.
    Brilliant job all!

    This will be a good reason for people to respect the walls and other cars.
    Right now it's the odd bit of mandatory or optional repairs, after this, slight contact with the wall in an open wheel and bye bye wheel.

  • @Leuel48Fan

    I'm so happy right now, this is GREAT! This model seems to hugely benefit open wheel cars cars right now (especially since they are the most prone to parts snapping and breaking off), but I'm sure deformation will also look top notch on the stock cars side of things as well. A nice job which needs to be kept further !
    Imo, if the "dropping" parts throwed away from a crash stay physic, it could occur damages to other cars, until the crashed car(s) go back to the pit.
    And maybe it would allow to introduce a safety car system ?

    • @vladimmi
      @vladimmi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      "until the crashed car(s) go back to the pit" - imo, parts should stay until pacecar deployed. But current plans mentioned on forum - "disappear after some time like cones do now"

    • @harpixel
      @harpixel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would be fitting to add a pace car as well as it is well needed and would add more realism. Although, it would be hard to code a safety car to come out in a road race and people would abuse the heck out of it by stopping in the middle of the track so they can catch up.

    • @vladimmi
      @vladimmi 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why it should be hard to code? "Amount of debris on track surface" should be enough to measure. Just ignore stopped cars and they would need to crash at least several cars and have their debris on track to actually call SC.

    • @slipangle3027
      @slipangle3027 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did some testing in Unity with some spring systems and found that if the dampeners (can't be adjusted in the garage) are too high, then the simulation will go haywire. If iRacing uses extremely stiff springs for all of their joints, then this new collision system can only reduce the number of instances where cars get sent into orbit. Though with parts able to break off, the springs overreaction to collision may just send parts of a car into orbit while leaving most of the car close to the ground.

    Joined iRacing a few months after it went online, wasn't sure it was worth the price or whether it would last. We were racing another sim that was eventually cancelled just like every other one before it. I've watched it grow and progress over time and I'm quite satisfied with the result. Hoping to see more cars in the future, would love to see the GT40 and Ferrari P4 recreated so we can enjoy the mid to late 60's LeMans battle again. Also the late 60's early 70's Sam Posey Mustang, the Camaro, Corvette battles of Trans-Am would be great to have again.

      Why? They can just race again in an hour. Maybe they could add a penalty to your car for the entire week depending on how much damage you take (with a upper limit per race so one asshat doesn't ruin it). There is literally no consequence to wrecking out as is, and this won't change that

    • @corbecx4185
      @corbecx4185 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Jason Welch sry no consequences?? A wreck cost me about 120 irating but it takes me 3-5 races to get the 120 back.
      Im very sure 99% of people are not wrecking there cars on purpose.

    • @CosmicCamm
      @CosmicCamm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Right, so I can have a penalty applied to my car for a week because someone runs me over in the corner and puts me in the wall? Sounds like a great idea.

    • @michaelbuckers
      @michaelbuckers 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The point is that it's very difficult to get your car damaged so bad it can't continue racing, with the current damage model. With new damage model it would be appropriately easy to do, so if you don't care to avoid obstacles your race will end quickly in a natural fashion. No need for the penalty points DQ threshold, the car will just break.

    I've often wondered if I should suggest that iRacing does a better physic model when crashing. I find it awesome that they are working on this ATM. I just hope it doesn't increase the chances of getting into a wreck in-game (people wanting to know how it would look to crash into others) lol

    Open wheel racing is going to be a complete nightmare when this is released, but it'll somehow be funner as well. XD Does anybody know when this is actually going to become a thing? Like a year or two from now?

    Someone had mentioned lag wrecks.... There was a change you could make on one of the lines in one of the NR2003 files for online racing. We used it in a league and the wrecks were realistic. People didn't believe us when we showed them the racing footage. Thought it was offline mode. IRACING NEEDS to apply this fix! I forget what the change was in that file, but some of the NR2003 developers work for iRacing now. They should experiment with that

    Will this help with the problem where very light contact is given a 4x I’ve worked my but off to get my A class license and I’m on the verge of loosing due to slight contact being called 4x would also love if we would stop being penalized for other people wrecking and hitting us or give us less contact points. Thank you 🙏

    I think you should also consider a small fade out to sounds like tire squeaking because I think it might improve the quality, just an idea :)
