- In this video I unbox and review the EXTRA BASS Sony GTK-XB7. This thing is crazy! SO LOUD, SO MUCH BASS, OH MY LORD!
This speaker isn't for everyone, it's a little pricy, but the sound it puts out is incredible. So clean so well presented plus it lights up! Always a nice touch.
Sony calls it the life of the party. With the extra bass button the speaker transforms into a machine that will bring the house down. It's not the most portable but if you have a plug its easy to take with you and plug in. Having great handles and not too heavy, it will fit where you need it. It's loaded of LED to light up the dance floor, and let everyone know you aren't playing around!

We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning th-cam.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.
I bought this in blue for my art studio. I've always loved Sony headphones and decided to try this bluetooth speaker. All I can say is WOW...Royksopp sounds so damn good on it. Great bass and clear. It has a cool app for your phone and also a remote. Control the sound and lightshow and work in style.

No. There are no microphone inputs for karaoke. Nor can you connect the system to youtube.

I've had this since Black Friday and didn't download the app. Thanks for showing it, I guess I might as well get it now so I can control the annoying lights that always come on, even when my speaker is off.
My Samsung S8 Active can have 2 bluetooth devices connected at the same so I bought 2 of this Sony speakers on cyber monday, one for $139 and another for $150. Got one in each corner of my living room and the sound is incredible, literally shakes the house. Best purchase ever.
BrownKnight011 poor you. Should‘ve bought a JBL Partybox for the same price (refurbished) and you get a battery powered party speaker with much deeper bass (response down to 33hz!!), unlike the sony which only goes down to 100hz.
Wtf? A speaker this big and only response down to 100hz?! This is a joke.
It also sounds completely muffled and compresses a lot, which the Partybox doesnt at all. Sony is literally ripping people off...

It reminded me how old I am when I heard this guy describe two 5" drivers as "huge massive heads." In the 90's you knew you had a really nice boombox if it had 5" drivers, and the stereos we had at home would make your insides shake.

for auxiliary all you would need is a Y cable (rca to 3.5mm) and connect it to where it says audio

Mark Stapf... If you think the Sony GTK-XB7 is big and loud, you clearly haven't seen the Sony GTK-X1BT. Nearly twice the size and an extra 50watts output. However... don't be fooled by its looks. The best sound you can get out of these bad boys is to mix them. I set my system up using 1 x Sony Shake-33, 1 x Sony Shake-X1D, 2 x Sony GTK-X1BT's and 3 x Sony GTK-XB7's. Linked all these to a Sony STR-DH520 with 8 x speakers of varying sizes and outputs, party chained the whole lot and WOW! what a sound... now we're not talking volume here, simply the clarity by way of multi-mixing. Out-doors though... Not even the thunder overhead can compete.

Sorry Jake but I did also have the Sony MHC-V7D and I was not all that impressed. A single speaker, a largely oversized cabinet and price tag to match. I liked the lighting but the unit became faulty after about a month. I left it in for service repair and they said they couldn't find the fault but would replace the motherboard anyway. It then took them over a month to get the parts and repair it. Afterwards, I was offered a replacement or exchange by Curry's and that was when I decided to replace with two further units of the Sony GTK-XB7's. It was the greatest exchange I've ever made.
I don't want to burst your bubble but the Sony Shake-33 puts out a PMPO of 2200watts, the X1BT's put out 500watts, the X1D puts out 1200watts and each of the XB7's put out 470watts. The main thing to remember is that all these units have two speakers in each unit giving a much clearer sound due to the stereo effect. So for myself, I wouldn't run with the MHC-V7D ever again. Sony, in my opinion, cocked up creating that unit. Get a torch and look inside the unit... you will find it is oversized, a cabinet full of nothing but space and a hefty price tag that I felt was way over the top.

Great speaker for tailgating. Most new trucks have a power outlet in the bed so you can use that awesome speaker! ...YO!
The rca ports that are on the speaker. You can get an auxiliary cord with a splitter at the end for the right and left ports. Technically you can plug your phone in directly.
I already have LG home stereo with dual subwoofers. 10x louder than that with hard hitting bass. I also have JBL boombox for going to the beach or somewhere without a power source.
Definitely a speaker i want to travel with on scuba diving trips!

you guys clearly haven't seen one in action 470 watts is impressive with the clarity it provides. I turned mine up full and a couple of picture frames fell off the wall, the nails vibrated out.

That's not much...it's like my phone compared to my 1000w BT speaker, w/wheels ( it weighs 51lbs ).
And the sony sounds so plastic/cheap every time he taps on it. And it sure doesn't look like a heavy magnet in it the way he picks it up. Anyway, I'm sure it's nice...but for a small area.

I would deffo recommend the Sony GTK-X1BT over the XB7 if you like bass heavy music. Although it's only 30w more powerful, it's bigger, heavier and the bass is crazy.
Listened to this one in PC World before buying the X1BT but it just wasn't good enough for me. I'll admit the highs are much clearer on the XB7, may be due to the fact you always have 2 tweeters playing in stead of the 1 on the X1 when standing, but for anyone who listens to Hip-Hop, RnB, Rap, Dancehall, House, DnB etc. you would probably be disappointed if you heard the X1 after buying the XB7.
Think Sony deliberately reduced the bass and put a bass boost on here, as a pose to the bass bazuka that they used to use

Yeah would probably have to buy one second hand, i got mine for £130 in immaculate condition. If your in the U.K there's a few people selling them cheap on eBay and can get A grade condition from Cex for £150 . Not sure on other countries though
Mine, rolled down the stairs, just 5 steps down, the metal Grill got dented and painted, but I still loving it!!, also a cat peed on it!!!!, I had to shed clean water with a atomizer. Everthing has gone just fine. jejeje.

You can still connect aux to it, I use it with my Panasonic SA-AK330 system since it has no aux port. You can but RCA to aux adapters for about 7 bucks.

Hey, people who can only use an aux cord can in fact still use this speaker. In the back, it has a couple of rca connections. One of them is audio in. You can buy an rca to 3.5mm jack in just about every store for as low as $5

I bought it, unboxed it, powered it up, connected with my phone, turned the volume to top and played Linkin Park Somewhere I Belong. As soon as I played the song, my window glasses of my room broke.!!!!!!!!!

I've been saving up for one the bass is do God damn good I have went a visited the speakers at Best Buy multiple times I want them so bad the sound on it is just amazing the bass on it is insane if you like bass drops like I do that us the perfect speaker first time I heard the bass on that I kid you not I almost cried I bass so much if anyone's reading this comment I rate that speaker like a 5 Star I definitely recommend getting the speaker if you want to have some fun

Got 2 of these on boxing day. Sadly there's noticeable delay when using aux in. Also, Party Chain only works with wireless audio. In other words there's no way to have sound come out of 2 speakers when plugged in to an audio source through a cable.

they are NOT melodious
they are reasonably loud but they completely miss the lows
the extra bass feature sounds like its boosting frequency around 60-80hz only and that kinda pollutes/colours the sound..

The footprint of the speaker is massive but the actual speakers aren't so big
Great speaker, I have one .. tends to distort a bit after about 75% volume tho.
probably better than Logitech computer speakers ranging about the same price tho

What are you talking about not being able to connect via aux? That's actually the standard aux type... 3.5mm on one end and rca on the other

My worry about this,since its using bluetooth,sound maybe compressed,sony know this so they might have tweaked the audio which means it will colour the sound heavily..

Edgar Daniel I don't think you can but you should be able to hook it up to the back of your monitor/tv with the L&R red and white cables.
Do songs that aren't supposed to have a lot of bass still sound good on this speaker? Just wanna make sure that classic rock or alternative songs won't be overtaken by bass.
Yeah they sound great. You could always turn off the extra bass and the speaker transforms into a very "calm" pleasurable speaker!

cool to have one maybe two in your house. but the latency it has for dj'n is nasty. no good for dj'n. but pair these bad boy speakers up with that blacklight lavalamp and mushroom poster in your room. bishes be sluggin for you.
