  • An overview of module integrity, its relevance in combat, and methods the game provides to increase module integrity, including engineering and module reinforcement packages.
    CORRECTION: In this video I state that B rated life support has more integrity than A rated, this turns out not to be true, and the life support systems are an exception to the B rated pattern. A rated life support systems actually offer the most module integrity of all life support options.

    Two things to note:
    1.) When running 2-3 MRP use one big MRP and 1 or 2 small MRP. I run 4D and 1D as the Class 4 is the damage soaker, while the 1D only exists so the 4D absorbs 84% instead of 60%. No need to run multiple large MRP unless you regularly burn the large MRP and still need more protection.
    2.) NEVER put MRPs into military slots, as this prevents stacking. Learned this the hard way when my Cheifty lost its 2D completely before the 4D started bleeding. Not sure if it's a bug but has been reported on forums.

      Ive got a regular 5d then a 2d anda 1d guardians cant make the 5d a guardian because of power draw on the T10

      @@MrTimjm009 unless you're doing AX combat there's really no reason to run all-Guardian MRPs, at most only the largest one. For AX specifically the GMRP drawing power basically adds to the pool of "modules that can be shut down by lightning", which increased the chance of a non-critical module shutdown

      @@piketchupwarthog3574 isnt gmrp completly disables random module shutdown and hud scramble as long as it's up?

      @@user-pe8yi9uh7d no, thargoid lightning attack will scramble a random module anyways, you're just adding more powered modules into the list of possible ones to be picked

    just wanted to say that A-rated life support actually has higher integrity than B-rated

    • @DryHeatAndSand
      @DryHeatAndSand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sorry I missed that, B rated typically have the highest base integrity so I hadn't noticed the difference. I've made a note to this effect in my video description, and can credit you for pointing this out if you would like.

    Very good pvp video. New player tutorial? Not unless they’re gifted. But this was an excellent presentation for experienced players.

    question about guardian MRP: does it still provide protection when turned off (only losing anti-thargoid defenses)? If it does then it's strictly better than normal MRP, no?
    also, maybe guardian power plant is slightly more durable than overcharged double braced, while providing slightly less power... could work as a middle between overcharged and armored
    also, what about going grade A lightweight life support? Sure it can go down in a fight, but 25 minutes surely will be enough to end a fight and deal with o2 problem, so integrity isn't much of an issue

    Ok I find your videos very helpful me not being the a PvP player. How do you sub-target anything quickly? I know go thru the panels but how would you do that quick3? Yea you guessed it I am a Nob in this game....

    • @DryHeatAndSand
      @DryHeatAndSand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you want to scroll quickly through sub-targets you need to map the next and previous sub-target commands into your controls. I believe you'll find them under "targeting" in the game's options --> controls menu.
      Otherwise you have to use the target tab on your nav panel. Note that a full scan of any target is required to sub-target.
      I'll consider a dedicated video about this sometime in the future.

    Just curious if you actually play in open flying a Type 10?

    • @DryHeatAndSand
      @DryHeatAndSand  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have occasionally in multi-crew, or as part of a wing. Most of my solo roaming in open play is done with a vulture, or cheifton. Much as I like the type-10, its still not quite up to a level where you can reliably win solo engagements. It can, however, make for a devastating supporting fire platform as part of a wing strategy, especially with regenerating effects on the lasers for allies.
      I've gone over this in detail in "turrets and the type-10", but the ship's biggest problem as a floating defense platform is that there aren't enough emergent opportunities to defend anything in current game-play, and when used offensively in open space its simply too easy to run away from.
      We need more scenarios where the T10 can park and let the fight come to it, like a hoard mode defending a station or surface site from waves of pirates or thargoids. T10's are workable, and even fun in PvE, CZ's, or hazres operations, but anyone with a basic understanding of PvP strategy knows turrets are garbage. My War OX build for example, actually has a lower effective DPS than a PvP fit Fer De Lance. Its only open safe in that the shields can hold for at least 15 seconds to plot a high-wake.

    • @MrTimjm009
      @MrTimjm009 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DryHeatAndSand I would agree . Even a Vulture with 2 large Hps has similar DPS as a T 10

    Would the same approach to building a all out combat ship , using a ship like the type 10 , apply to the other big ships in the game ? 1 on 1 pvp s , it seems like big ships are not to be used . Clearly small to medium ships would be best

    • @DryHeatAndSand
      @DryHeatAndSand  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The meta strongly favors medium ships in elite, with the chieftain, fer-de-lance, and krait being current favorites.
      As for your question about large ships, no, you don't typically fit them like a T10. Each one has a set of strategies in fitting that make them fairly unique.
      None of the other large ships favor turrets for example.
      I'll look into doing some videos about them in the future.

    • @MrTimjm009

      @@DryHeatAndSand That would be good . I have subscribed to your channel. I like your videos so far .
      It has taken me ages to figure out how to build these ships . Apart from an Orca , the T 10 is the only big ship I have . Ive got a Vulture and a Krait mk2 and it seems you can do anything with them Cz and res zones plus assassin missions are easy in the Vulture and the Krait does pretty well too.
      Its been ca challenge to engineer it and out fit the T10 . 4 turret beams and 2 plasmas and a shield cell bank turned it into molten lava so I had to ditch that build . The amfu and cell bank seems good and armored modules with B rated is not something I considered . The only thing with an armored B power unit is it is limited even with monstered effect. It is difficult to get a decent cell bank and amfu that can be efffective. Im going to switch to B rated thrusters from the A but I still want dirty drag drives. It still gives a 245 speed and 300 boost speed which is still lower than other big ships but not quite so bad
