You know, people can pretend that they don't like Hall & Oates, but seriously, most of them love these guys and their music--How could you not? Still my all-time favorite group, for not only their own hits, but when they do covers as well. John Oates sounds great in this song. He is often over-looked, but such an integral part of the group. Daryl's voice is one of the best in the business. Both have true talent, and isn't it nice to NOT hear a computer box voice where everyone sounds the exact same?
I never thought anybody could do a creditable cover of this. Brother, was I wrong? From the vocals to the sax, down to the, almost Jamerson, bass line, this was great. It's as close as anyone will come to being as good as the original. They made it their own, without trying to imitate.
I have been sitting here for over an hour listening to this song. What a fantastic rendition. I have always liked Hall and Oates, but you do not see or truly appreciate them until you see this video. Such talent by every member of this group. I am 70 y/o, my wish before I die is to see them in concert. In about 15 years lol There is nothing more impressive than a rock band with talent. I have a lot of favorite groups, but Hall and Oates is at the top.
Daryl is the most unbelievable 74 year old I’ve ever seen. Sexier than anybody 30 years younger. He’s never done drugs or alcohol I’m sure that had a lot to do with it.
l had a chance to see them about 7 yrs ago.Boy,were they good and very LOUD.lm 70 disabled but l went along on my own.Best thing l ever did.l hope you get a chance.
I was fortunate to see Hall & Oates in Perth, Western Australia at the Perth concert hall in 1991 with my wife, we were blown away. It was a steel string acoustic band and absolutely other worldly ❤️
In about 15 years if they have a concert you and I will go see it together, by then I also will be seventy, life is full of beauty, all we need to do is join up..
First time I'm hearing this. It's so nice to hear John sing more than usual. This version is stellar. Fabulous harmonies and Daryl's hair is awesome (sorry, had to throw that in there ❤❤❤)
This is just top-tier! The vocals, the sax lines, guitar, playing, the mix and balance, the nuance without imitation! I spent 10 years in a band, and I know what it takes to put a performance like that together! There’s so many ways to step on each other, and they avoided all of them and produced a flawless, live recording! Bravo!
I keep coming back to Hall and Oates when I need to really feel good. Darrell Hall's "At Daryl 's House" was simply fantastic as he mixed with old and new artists. While doing so he exhibited his incredible abilities with vocals and instruments. And, as said earlier John Oates is such a great contributor as well. I've been listening to other covers of Marvin Gaye's classic and was simply delighted to find Daryl's, and John's love for a legendary song. Maybe someday I can witness them in concert.
Play his song but don’t mention his name. I got a problem with that. Great imitation with the original recording dubbing in the background. Yes we are much imitated never duplicated. Good try. Marvin Gaye is his name. There I said it for you. It’s all good.
You Know I was In to Metal in the 80s and through Enlightenment have Expanded My Musical Tastes, and Regret Missing so much Talented people in Concert, And Hall and Oates is definitely one of them …
Hall and Oats sometimes brings tears to this man they really engulf music real classic beautiful and do it justice Marvin is smiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First heard their version of Marvin's classic when they were at the Capitol Music Hall in Wheeling WV in May of 1991. It floored me then as it still does every time I hear it. I especially remember Charles DeChant, playing his sax while walking around the theater - and on the rail around the orchestra pit!
I never thought they sucked, even had a couple of their LP's on vinyl that I acquired somehow, as an afterthought I guess. Like you, big on Zep, Stones, etc. And like you I like these guys more and more every year.
Daryl my man…. You are top tier in my book…. You soooo resonate with such style, class, integrity, and the Worlds best dignity.Thankyou for your “work 9f Musical Art”.
My favorite song and Marvin Gaye is my favorite singer love Hall and Oats but never heard this rendition which is good but no matter who sings it you cant screw up a good song.
Hall and oates was one of my favourites but never can beat marvin gaye but they did a great job and they appreciated great music but I love them ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love everything they do, whether it's a cover like this or their own songs. I love how Daryl pays homage to the greats. I also love what he does with Live at Daryl's House.
Had to go back on no more comments statement just to remind myself of the biggest mistake of my life .. Not going to see Hall & Oates on the 30th October 18 How amazing is this performance
The more I hear from them...the more I like them! Strange, I didn't fancy them when I was younger, a long long time ago...aging brings us wisdom, I guess...

Double woo hoo 😂❤!!
Triple WOO Hoo❤
Here we are in 2022 and this song MORE prevalent today than it was back then......LOVE ME SOME H AND O!!!
John was quoted as saying " I'm a good singer but, Daryl is a great singer" What a fantastic compliment to give to your bandmate.
Yes, they each have their own amazing voices. Together they are magic.
Together they cover the range of soul music. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
2024 and this song is still a classic. Hall & Oates and the band - sung this beautifully! ❤
Whenever you have just great musicians/performers that is the highest peak of musical expression. And this is on that summit 😜🤣😂.
Fabulous, guys. Marvin Gaye would be proud.
Im 65 years old, and im still crushing on Daryl ❤ lol. Thanks for all the years of your music. You and John Oates made me smile in good and bad times.
I'm right behind you at 64💜
Me too
Must be the hair
Daryl’s hair is sooo Hot! Gorgeous! 🔥 oh yeah!
@GillFisher-ny4do me three. I wished they just make up and forget about it. They were a great duo together. Brings back lots of great memories .

I LOVE John Oates' voice!
John Oates is criminally underrated, what a fantastic talent he is ,those two send shivers down the spine
One of my favorite singers ever I love all the songs he sings. Daryl as well of course.
Oates lost his voice
I could not agree more… one of the most talented ever… should have been on the top of the music charts ALWAYS…
Thank GOD for Spotify and TH-cam
They are beautiful singers, x
Have to believe Marvin would approve of this respectful rendition. Gotta luv Hall & Oates - they "get it".
The bass player does a good job too!
I saw Hall & Oates live years ago when they were not well known and did a little story about it on honest john true stories (on you tube).
Simply the best music ever... you cannot reciprocate there Era
I love this song I have listened to it and keep listening to it. The feeling comes right to you. AWESOME
Woahhhhhhh...i love it. my forever crushee Daryl Hall..it is 2022 and I am so watching this from 1991.

Greatest duo ever.

John is the quintessential sound of the group. His backing vocals are incredible.
Agreed, one of the best duos. The band is also phenomenal.

The BEST cover of this song by ANYONE
They definitely have some soul to their sound and voices.
@@kdm222 heard Donny Hathaway's cover?

Daryl stated in an interview he never smoked so his voice would last. It's fantastic.

What a great duo! This song is magic! Everything is perfect! ❤
Never thought much of Darryl when I was younger, but boy can this man sing!
Yeah, what the heck was wrong with me 40 years ago??
You are so so right, have you seen the 30 minutes with Daryl and Todd R
@@donnavorbach215LOL
They got stuck into the 80s pop scene, though they were all about soul.
Still made some great tunes and a musical legacy.
I agree. I am now one of his biggest fan!!! So many years later.😂😂

Every body’s favorite song. RIP Marvin and thank you.
Hall and Oates always kicked ass with their live shows. Real band, real voices, and they played it different each time. Oates sounds great!
I agree. 'bout time he shared the vocals with Daryl. He definitely can sing.
Shared the vocals with Daryl? Daryl had the lion share of lead vocals.
Did you say Lion's hair, Kitty......... (that may explain it!!!!)
Great tribute to Marvin Gaye
Daryl's threads: DIG! Love! All the other amazing stuff: totally obvious amazingness!
What TALENT!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤️😎
Absolutely fantastic rendition of this song! I love it!
That Daryl/John duet is just fantastic. Their voices mesh so well, what with John's smooth and soothing voice and Daryl's crisp and clear voice.
I could listen to them all night.

Just noticed Daryl´s great friend and wonderful musician T Bone was in this video. So sadly missed RIP.
Indeed, he created a lovely bass sound to all of Live at Daryl´s House.
just nailed this song

Back in the day they went to Japan a few times. They were greatly loved by the Japanese. I, too love the sax in this cover.

No one can cover a soul classic like these two.
Deca Cards52 fantastic live version of Marvin’s song!
This isn't a generic cover. It is a gorgeous interpretation. Those two are amazing. Cheers. 😀
Robert Palmer absolutely kills Mercy Mercy Me
What about Liberace, he was mighty fine on “ I’m a soul man”. You believe that?

But this particular live version of Hall and Oates is defenitively my favorite version. Sax player made fantastic intro, like no other version of this song, I was looking for this version in other platforms for my playlist , but coudnt find it
Hall and Oates still got it, and even better as time passes on !!! Great 🎵🎶
