When you enter a trade agreement with a faction, it unlocks the next faction (to the other side of the one that you are trading with), continuing the "road" of trade. So, when you signed a deal with the Western Provinces, factions to the south of them who were not visible previously were eligible to trade. This is useful for having trade partners on the other side of the world
A vampiric Cathay faction would actually be really cool. Considering there is a spirit dragon sibling who is technically dead, Shiyama, and she’s in charge of Cathay’s underworld, I can see there possibly being some crossover? Or have new units based on Chinese undead folklore like Jiang Shi units, or a dual unit of Ox-head and Horse-head etc.
Oh man... I was rewatching the Katarin campaign these days so I didn't realise you were playing Yuan Bo (which is my favorite lord when it comes to Warhammer lore)... Also, it would be really cool to have a Jade War Drum named Guan Yu's Roar. Great video as always

If you don't like Yes because they "rant" about the game, remember that a lot of the important changes that have benefited the community have been because of those people holding CA to account.
An absolutely amazing hack for this campaign is you can steal other factions hero’s. Once you have the command any force you’re not at war with ability. You can then set the Compass to the direction that gives your all heroes immortality and just suicide them into an enemy and the hero will be wounded in your pool. allowing you to get what ever heroes from any faction you want. Dawi engineers and Cathay cannons anyone? Exalted champion?
Yuan Bo sounds like Liu Bei (same voice actor?) -- one of the main protagonists from TW3K / Romance of the Three Kingdoms, who is known for his outward humility while possessing tremendous inner cunning. I think there's something here! 😂
First time watching a warhammer playthrough, know nothing about it but I hear so much about it therefore I'm here to watch it. Knowing Lionheart, it will be a painful playhthrough hahaha
The best magic spells imo are the ones you can take out multiple lines of troops with. ex. 3 sword groups clash with 3 sword groups then boom hit them with those magic winds and take out half there troops 😎
It will be interesting to see what you do when they offer you the option of abandoning your Cathayan settlement. Everyone seems to be doing the same thing, because of the need for an immediate additional army to hold against the Jiang Shi rebels, and the massive amount of cash you get for abandoning it.
Yes likely in a video next week, as these videos are already recorded. But its incredibly poor communication from CA and I'm very disappointed, frustrated and upset by their very poor choice of communication on the whole matter.

What I’m all for is well thought out discussion and debate which would be what I’m proposing here. Burying heads in the sand because we don’t want to hear about bad things isn’t the way to see positive change. You can of course also just choose not to watch an entirely separate video from my let’s plays about my feelings on CAs mishandling here.

Lion I think I found you back during Napolion total war or empire I forget which the only time I've not seen cav just get wiped in your armies atleast my memories of it is when they are your faction units 😂😂😂 and even then you jinx it sooooo stay the course as I have the same problem when I have more than 2 full cav units monster's don't count
If you want to play this campaign in as lore friendly a way as possible, I'd recommend that you avoid recruiting any additional alchemists at all, as Yuan Bo does not approve of them or their practices, seeing as how in Grand Cathay, Alchemy and the Lore of Metal are not sanctioned practices of magic, very much unlike the Empire of Men.

Hey I love your work and already preordered the new dlc but I’m having trouble with getting the resolution right on my laptop. Do you know the right settings for getting everything to not be blurry. And I think it would be cool if you did a long campaign and conquered both Cathay and where the mission takes you
I would like to see minor factions be included in playable. I like the diversity of choice and it would be great to be able to have to be a vassal or a trade faction or have to claw your way up from the bottom Or from a super hard start point
Very disappointed with the Onyx Crows. They just seem to be Cathayan Harpies. Vanguard deployment, fast moving, and very squishy even when fighting ranged units in melee. At least Harpies are cheap and not a “special NEW unit”.
Well, Cathay were lacking in that matter. And they were fighting 2 savage orc archers, whom are decent melee combatants, big physical resistance and had them surrounded. That’s not how you are supposed to use the Onyx Crows. They are going to be a great addition to the Cathayan roster
Thoughts on trying an edited campaign like other, more successful, channels are doing? Who's going to watch part 59 of a playthrough really... I can't imagine what your hourly rate works out at based on the immense effort you put in.
Long format campaigns that I currently do don't actually take up a huge amount of time other than actually playing and recording them as I've got the editing process down very quickly nowadays, but do generate very reasonable revenue even after 50 or even 100 episodes, even if they only then get a few thousand views. The additional time it would take to create a more edited campaign series vs what it would bring in revenue wise would right now for me result in a substantial hit to my income. Plus right now I still really enjoy the long format approach to my content as do the vast majority of viewers. While many creators have moved away from longer format for whatever reason, if anything it creates less direct competition for me still creating longer format campaigns which again is my preference of content to create. Totally not against trying some edited campaigns, I've experimented a little with CK3 edits but likely wont be for a TW series just yet, I'd need a lot of time set aside to do it which right now I don't have. Out of interest which more successful channels are you referring to and what metrics do you believe makes them more successful? More views (doesn't always equal = more revenue) more subs? Faster growth? Plus any particular edited campaigns you've really enjoyed, happy to watch some to gain some inspiration if I do try some more edited content :)

@@lionheartx10 Hi mate, thanks for the in depth reply - of course you have far more knowledge than me since you get to see the metrics, and if the episodes work for you then keep going - I do enjoy popping in to see them every so often. I see a fair few channels like Grim Kleaper, Brilliant Stupidity or Rimworld channels like Hazzor who seem to have grown very quickly by following a concept or challenge for 1-4 videos. I suppose having hundreds of videos slowly accruing views with good cpm can work better than a few videos with lots of views, as your socialblade shows.

Socialblade is pretty inaccurate when it comes to estimated earnings, likely as it doesnt have access to creator cpm rates which vary themselves wildly from creator to creator. Comparing my analytics to socialblades its out by a factor of 1.5 to 2x. But it gives a rough ballpark I suppose.

There are already really good Cathay MODS that add an undead dragon lord of sorts as well as other mods that add undead units.
They should give Monkey King a faction since he causes havoc for Cathay in the lore.
I think they might do a Vampire Coast / Cathay faction based on the historical pirates of the region, maybe as Yin-Yin's opponent.
