    Add "N73 plenum removal" and you will get more hits. Thanks for the videos. You are the only one showing work on N73.

      Maybe but the N73 is a pretty rare engine so not many own it👍🏻

    Hi George, speedystig here, ended up buying a 760Li myself, and have been through the same process this year replacing all coils , sparks and PCV valves to hopefully cure a misfire. I recently did the fuel filter too and that made an improvement. Process of elimination leaves me at the fuel pump diaphragms as these will take hammer over the years in high pressure pumps. We have similar setups on our Bottling Fillers in the brewery I work at , delivering beer at insane high pressure and speed, and the diaphragms are replaced annually on 12 month outage! Going to do the HPFPs off the beamer with some of my technicians and try some teflon material in them. Will update! Cheers for the videos

    Carefully spray a bit of brake and clutch around where you think the vacuum leak is. If the revs rise you know you've found it!

    Bmw replaced all my 760 coils about 10 years ago under my warranty. One failed 2 years afterwards and another failed last year. In both cases it was semi fails starting with the odd missfire. In the first case the missfire was reported on the wrong cylinder, so a second coil was replaced , in the recent case it was reported correctly at least statically more errors on one than the other two in firing order.
    BMW wanted 900 pounds to do all of them...

    You don't need to gap new plugs but you still need to check them for the correct gap. They will have variations at the factory. The only reason they don't want you gapping new plugs is because people kept breaking the tiny electrode on the platinum and iridium plugs. You can and should regap then to the manufacturer spec as long as you use the correct tool.

    Delicious video! Can't wait to get my hands on one of these N73s! I did some research on the fuel injection system, and found something intresting. Maybe worth considering because i've seen many people doing it: replacing the high pressure fuel pumps diaphragms. It's not difficult to do, and they are prone to leaking especially on older cars.
    Good luck, and again, congrats on 50k!

    • @GeorgeAusters
      @GeorgeAusters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GeorgeAusters The diaphragms are very hard to find because BMW in their infinite wisdom does not sell individual diaphragms nor do they or bosch share the OE material used for the diaphragms. So there are a lot of junk diaphragms that are being sold that do not last more than a few hundred miles. Only way to get good diaphrams is finding someone who was able to source OE-quality material and custom make their own diaphrams. I found a 760 specialist locally in Los Angeles that rebuilt mine (I know I got extremely lucky). There is a guy on ebay that claims his Diaphragms are custom made to meet and exceed OEM specs but it's around $250 USD for just the diaphragms and o ring seals. His name is aavius or something like that. Worth a try over $5000 for the HPFPs.

    Love the video. Very informative how to take apart the N73, literally uploaded right before I need to do a full tune up on my 760. If you have a list of all the part numbers you used for the crankcase breather lines/valves that would be super great!

    it`s also and has been (for a long time) very noticeable on close-up`s , where the camera struggles to focus, not sure what phone you or your mr`s have, BUT if they`re recent flagships, with good cameras, you could do a 1 minute session to camera in your garage, comparing your camera against your phone, play it back to yourself, and i KNOW you`d see the difference, NOT criticising, cos your vids are great, merely trying to help....................

    I'd guess that screeching noise is a faulty crank case breather valve(s). I saw the make you had, I know where that make comes from, and I have had one or two issues with the quality of that aftermarket brand. I've used Meyle in the past on similar generation BMW engines and not had a problem.
