@Rex R I think concert toms are underrated. But they do have a time and a place. Regardless, Thomas always plays the latest and greatest. Some will say "Lucky" but it takes time and dedication to get to that point. I'm more inspired by his geekiness than the chops (not that they are not impressive by any means). There are Lots of guys with chops out there but no feel, some jaded, some too full of themselves. I like the excitement, the giggles, the dad jokes, and the "I can't stop playing this thing because it's so cool! Squirrel! Look at this other thing I got!". That's pasion.

Bought a set of 13/14 inch timbales to put off to the side of my kit. They sounded so good tuned low with clear ambassadors that I made them my main toms, took the reso heads off my 10,12 inch rack toms, cranked them up, put them next to the timbales and now I have a Phil Collins looking and sounding “concert Tom” kit

Also - you can put your tom in your floor and your floor in the bass drum when you go to the gig! The notes comes through and you can't be messy with them. No need for dampening either and no need to pay for any reso-head, only one head per tom! What's not to love :)

I've always loved concert toms. Very cool to see them used in this context.

Thank you, Tom. I am in full agreement with you about the boldness of the DW Concert Kit. I love your style and the extra added fun to see that you have a very cool, dad-like sense of humor! I'm the same way with my kids. Don't you if you have kids, but if you do, I imagine you keep them having fun. Again, thanks for sharing your grooves and kit. Loved it!!

Science and man have yet to come up with a cure for snare - buzz. The drummer's Nemesis.

the sound of concert toms is my favorite. i have been playing concert toms for 31 years. i love the bark and the power. but i also love double headed drums. what i have done for the best compromise since the nineties is i take remo controlled sound clear black dot heads and with a very precise sharp tool i remove all the black dots from each heads with precision. and i put those heads under my toms and floor toms. it gives me the look of double headed drums i prefer and a mix of the bark and power of concert toms and double headed toms and floor toms.

Oh my God those sound freak'n ridiculously good with those mics. I've always loved concert toms since I was a kid listening to Peter freak'n Chris. Don't care what know body thinks. That solo from 100,000 years was cool as hell when I was 7 years old 🥁
