Really great instructional! My wife and I just skipped the rulebook for our first play-through tonight and watched this. It was a blast to play, amazing game out of the gate.
I'm loving your reviews! It takes a lot of planning and preparation to explain a game well, and you do it very well. Logical progression and structure to your explanations, and the background music is pleasant and not distracting. More! More!
I don't know if it's only written in the second edition of the game, but as it is in it, the Rune cards give you points whether it was flipped or not. Other than that, thanks for the overview!
The Dicey Review btw where did you get your Wood tokens. Also, I'm trying to find a a disc and five meeples to make this a fifth player. Any suggestions?
Matafer I used MeepleSource to get my upgrades. I've never tried playing with 5. I don't know if there would be enough buildings for players to go to. Maybe if you reduced the number of workers everyone had. They're coming out with an expansion soon though that may add a 5th
A couple questions 1) if you have more than 1 meeple (let's say you have 3) and it's your turn. Do you place them all? Or do you place 1 and then everyone else places 1, and when it comes back around to you, you then place your Last 2 on the spots that are left of your choosing? 2) I saw a card that when you flip it over your shields can do damage. Is that for the 1 battle? Or is that for all battles for the rest od the game? 3) for every set of red, yellow, or blue monsters you have at the end of the game you get even more glory. But how many red monsters make a set? If you have 4 red monsters defeated is that 1 set? Or is a set 2 red monsters. So you essentially have 2 sets.
27:33 rules say if you leave the wrong warriors on your boat when fighting they are killed. I know you did it by accident but if people dont read that rule they will do what you did and will never know any better. Maybe leave a note of the video that if you forget they are supposed to be killed.
Yeah there are a lot of comparisons made. This game is great, I personally still like Lords of Waterdeep a little better because you can play with more and there is less chance to be hosed by dice rolls. Some of the issues I have with this game may be fixed with expansions though. The theming on this one is much better.
I just now found your video even though it's been three years since you made it. I greatly appreciate your step by step presentation, showing everything on the board for worker placement and then showing the battle sequences in the same way. Nice. I think I'd agree about the music. I'd be happy enough without it. Otherwise, great video illustrating all the many choices the game offers. It seems like there are many choices to make, so the luck of the cards and dice won't just overwhelm the players. Would that be correct?
Ray O'Russa Hi Ray! Thanks so much for the kind words. Yes I’ve come to agree with the music feedback, it’s no longer in my videos and my format has changed a bit. There are tons of choices in this one and lots of avenues to victory but some easier routes to start with. It has more randomness than Lords of Waterdeep but not so much as to ruin it for me. There’s mitigation and odds that you must take into account.
I really like your videos, you do it well and are pleasant to listen to. But I had to give it up on this one and go with the Game Boy Geek. The background music is just too loud and too repetitive to try and focus on learning how to play.
Hey Donnie, thanks so much for the feedback I agree this one is probably too loud. I’m torn on leaving it in or taking it out in my current videos. I have turned it down. I just really dislike silence for some reason.
I understand about the silence... but sometimes when you're trying to pay attention to something, music is not always helpful. And I understand you made the guitar music yourself, so you're probably proud of it (and it is a nice tune), it's just not something you want to hear on repeat while you focus on learning how to play. Great for an intro or a closing, though!
Mi sa che ti sei dimenticato di dare a ogni personaggio, un dado bianco iniziale... mettici un po' più di brio quando fai i tutorial, trovo più entusiasmo ad un funerale :D
I think you're right on the white die. Haha, these were early videos usually filmed while an infant and wife were asleep later at night so being quiet was of utmost importance. I'll try to do better in my future videos!
I absolutely agree. I haven't lost the enthusiasm, in fact the more I get into the hobby the more enthusiastic I become. I'm meeting wonderful people and learning games I never knew about. Thank you for the feedback it truly is helpful and I'll use it going forward!
Justin Rizzo it's definitely a factor. If you want just the strategy without any luck LOW is probably still your choice. This one does better on theme and presentation I would say. The fact that there is combat is also cool.

Thanks so much man I'm glad you enjoyed it! Check back for more to come soon!

Clay Meyer thanks so much Clay! I definitely plan on don't no more so check back periodically!

Oh cool thanks! The rules that came with my copy must have been the first version.
Update! I just misread it, it's in the rules quite clearly haha. Thanks for correcting me!
Thank you for the in depth guide. It really helped my gf, and I learn the game.
Matafer awesome man! Glad it was helpful

Champions of Midgard: Valhalla lets you play 5

Thanks for the video. I'm ready to play!
boardgamecloset fantastic! Glad it helped.
Thanks so much. Any opinion on this vs lords of waterdeep?

Everything is good about this video, but had to give up on it a couple of minutes in coz the 'background' music was just too much.
Neil Gibson sorry it didn't work out for you! I'll make sure it's low in future videos
I had the same feedback to be honest; too loud and too repetitive I'm afraid. Great instructional vid though, thanks.
Thanks for the explain of the game the video its to good thanks Bro i go now to play for the first time this game!!
very informative 👍
Thank you!
awesome now I need this game

Thanks. I've been concerned about the random factor. Just received the game and will try it out soon.
nice job on this video, thank you!
Thanks so much glad you liked it!
nice tutorial sir!
Thank you!

Donnie McIlwain thanks again! I want to make the best product possible so I really appreciate it.

Sounds like dice will determine most things in this game. Too bad, I love LoW.
