  • Would I buy luxury items from Japan on eBay? I share my purchases from Japanese sellers on eBay. I have bought many luxury goods from Louis Vuitton and Chanel from eBay USA but from sellers in Japan. I will tell you if they are authentic or counterfeit and if I would purchase again from these sellers. I also share sellers that Mel in Melbourne uses and Jerusha Couture.
    I have purchased from these sellers on eBay:

    Tfs sharing. Going back looking at some of your older videos. I agree. In the past I purchased several times about 10 from fashionphile and don’t get me wrong. I love fashionphile but lately I’ve realized that as long as I pay attention and be proactive on eBay. I can get better deals from Japan sellers. I was recently able to find my lv bucket gm and an alma that both in great condition for a couple hundred. Tfs

    Thank you for giving me the confidence to buy from Japan. I bought a trousse from Brandolls and I am very happy with my experience. I compared it to the two LV cosmetic bags I bought over 30 years (for $85 and $125 each -- they go for more than $300 now). After my good experience, I returned the new agenda PM I just ordered from LV and bought one in a different pattern for less than 1/3 of the full retail price!

    I bought from Japan and in the UK I paid customs. But even with that and postage very happy with my purchase, value for money. It arrived in a better condition than described, so the descriptions are exact in so far as they make you aware of the issues. It was described as having a strong smell, it arrived with no smell. The only issues I see are scoffing and small amount of declaring on the handles and tarnish on the hardware. The chances is pristine and as new. I bought an ellipse pm, discontinued and 21 years old. As you say do your research, scour the photos. I have been very happy buying in Japan.

    Hi Julie! I'm lucky as I actually live in Japan, so I can a) avoid customs and b) get them even cheaper. Scams do exist here as everywhere, but I honestly feel it happens less. Japan indeed does have very strict counterfeit laws and you're right in that the transparency is quite good. I really appreciate the rating system they use here; it's pretty consistent! And there is such a great market here for luxury resale. You can avoid customs when buying abroad if you request the seller claim the item at less than a certain amount, FYI. That amount varies by country I think. I recently sold a bag so someone in France who refused to pay the taxes so it came back to me. Fine, as I actually really didn't want to sell it, but in future I will definitely state the value on the box. New subbie, FYI. ;)

      Makeup & Medicine I have had the same situation and what I have found is that there is an odor of mustiness in the zipper teeth. If you take wax paper, fold in half & half again, using the waxy side, rub against the zipper teeth. You will lift off some of the grime and tarnish and the zipper will run like butter and won’t smell as bad. Hope this helps!

    I’m so annoyed. After 2 years the zipper pull on my Trousse 23, the smaller bag than your toiletry bag, broke off. LV replaces zipper pulls for free so I sent it for repair along with my Retiro NM, and large ring agenda, for other repairs, a couple weeks ago. I just got a text from the SA saying that they “can’t repair it because it wasn’t made in their workshop” I’m looking at the text like what??? I bought it from brand-works I think is the name on eBay ad they’re in Japan. I’m waiting on a response from brand-works, but it’s probably been too long to do anything. I think the SA is wrong, but I don’t know what to do. I have both of the toiletry bags that you have too. Sure hope they’re fine!

    • @JulieSorbello
      @JulieSorbello  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @natasha4686
      @natasha4686 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Julie Sorbello I think they're saying it's fake. I really think they are wrong. It is still at the store I have to go get it. I would rather them send it out and have the repair shop say it isn't real. I don't know what else it wasn't made in our workshop means. It came from Japan and i look at pics thoroughly before I buy :-(

    • @JulieSorbello
      @JulieSorbello  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I wouldn't worry about it. I think they are on to us buying preloved and then having them repaired and they don't like it. Last time I took something in to be repaired they seemed bugged.

      Update: The SA lied about having sent it out for repair and it getting rejected. I decided to call the LV customer service number and they had no record of it having been sent out previously. They said to try at another store. The nearest store is 3 hours away, but I went and needless to say my bag was sent out to LV repair, and I got the lining and zipper replaced. We know more than the SAs. Japanese resellers are fine!

    I have received fake bags from Japan before. If you look at the inventory for these Japanese retailers, there are plenty of fakes being sold. Also, if there are fakes, you are in the USA, how are they doing to be fined. Who is alerted the authorities. Doesn’t make any sense. While I think that some retailers are honest, it doesn’t make sense to generalize and mislead people. The key for all items on eBay, from the US or any country, is know the bag before you buy

    How do you get your items authenticated...?

      I have just been doing it myself. I look at a lot of pictures and videos and compare styles and the years they are made.

      I also authenticate myself but if I do question something I use pro-autheticators for $10.00 you send them several photos of your items and they will give you a verbal confirmation. If you want it in writing I believe it costs $20.00. It's worth it if you are going to invest in a high price item.

      @AnnieM I use ProAuthenticators too. Love them! They are very quick at replying too.
