    Nice looking plant Dani, I'll be looking forward to your tasting in future 👍. Thank goodness we've had a couple of very pleasant days 😁

      Yes, it has been so nice - in between crazy downpours here. I hope I'll get some berries next year, but the plant may well keep me waiting...

      Thank you. We have so loved our berries this year. It's sad that the season is coming to an end, but there is always so much to look forward to next year.

    This is wonderful Dani! I’m always so inspired by your back yard snack yard! We have tons of native raspberries and blackberries here on the farm but only fruiting in spring and early summer. I have a few blueberry bushes and a couple of cultivars of blackberries and golden raspberry but I’d love to add more!

      Aw, thank you Bobbi. It seems that so many of the best fruit trees are native to North America. Do you get American Pawpaws in your area as well?

    We have them in our garden as well and my husband really likes them. They are nice but quite dominant. I have them in a raised bed with golden raspberries and they took over. Now I have to protect my golden raspberries that they have a chance to grow as well. Those black raspberries are very sweet. Much sweeter than blackberries.

      Everyone mentions how sweet they are. I'm so looking forward to trying them. I have a feeling my boys will be big fans😁 I'm glad I planted them separately from my yellow raspberries, though, now. I'll keep am eye on mine to make sure he doesn't run wild😁😁

    I have Raspberry 'Jewel'. It produce only once, in mid-season. The plant is very vigorous and hardy. It can take -25c.
    The fruit is very attractive, more round, and tasty.
    My Black raspberries did not produce any sucker! Maybe because I planted them in 16” container.

    I always want to have raspberry in every colours! 😂❤ Guess what, I’m having my breakfast with homemade Rye bread (that not yet succeeded to make it good even after 3 trials😢) with my raspberry balsamic glaze, Spanish olive oil, Himalayan salt & black pepper. I made vinegar from frozen raspberries I bought in the supermarket in Thailand. They grow good in my area also, but we might not have much water left anymore for winter.
    Somehow I heard it might rain till Jan or even March next year in Thailand. I hope so!!

    • @backyardsnackyard
      @backyardsnackyard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your breakfast sounds amazing. I don't even bake rye bread, but do enjoy it, especially with pickled herring, when I visit family in Denmark😋😋
      I love growing different colours of raspberries too - it's amazing how different the flavours are. I planted some purple ones in our last house, but stupidly didn't bring any with me when we moved here; I keep getting tempted to buy some when I see them online now🤣🤣

    • @maiamongkolpattanachai2301
      @maiamongkolpattanachai2301 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@backyardsnackyard Ohhh that’s a pity you didn’t bring with 🙀 By the way do you know of it’s possible for the plant shops in Uk can import cuttings or trees from Thailand? I’m thinking about contacting them to offer the Thai mulberry cuttings because they grow so well in cold climate and even gave more berries than the Japanese mulberry tree that’s supposed to be growing good in Europe 😂

    • @backyardsnackyard
      @backyardsnackyard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@maiamongkolpattanachai2301That sounds like an exciting idea. I know it has been so hard to buy interesting plants here since Brexit, as it's extra hard to import them from the rest of Europe, but that wouldn't have effected imports from Thailand. I have never ordered plants from overseas, though, so I'm not sure about the rules and regulations.

      You're so good at growing from seed. I get so disheartened when I baby little seedlings into big strong plants, only to find out they are not what was printed on the packet😬, but that can happen with fully grown plants too.

    I do not like Black Jewel. The fruit is small but the main issue is the taste which is like a mullberry but worse. I planted a row and gradually replace them. They spread like wildfire, if tips touch the ground the root fast. Imo best black rassperry is heban, not easy to find though

    • @backyardsnackyard
      @backyardsnackyard  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@profeturulz8373 that's such a shame. I haven't seen any other black raspberry cultivars for sale here in the UK, but I'll keep an eye out for them. I saw that Heban is also listed as Black Polka and is classified as a purple raspberry. I used to grow purple ones in my last garden and they were so good!

    • @profeturulz8373
      @profeturulz8373 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@backyardsnackyard Well you brought my moral down with hararasp rassberry so we are even.:D I had high hopes for this cause it won a contest 2 years ago, guess they don't care much about the actual fruit. Heban is purple but it's way blacker then Glen Coe and unlike Glen Coe and Black Jewel the fruiting period is way longer. But my Black Jewel has white stems, your are not that white so you may have a better cultivar? You'll see at harvest. Hope I don't get dissapointed in my Mojo berry I have high hopes for it

    • @backyardsnackyard
      @backyardsnackyard  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @profeturulz8373 ah yes, the hararasp were disappointing, but I'm still hoping they will be better next year. It was so cold here this year and sometimes fruit trees do better as they mature...I haven't found that to be the case with Raspberries, but these are different...I'll definitely keep an eye out for a Heban. They sound lovely and I love having a big rainbow of berries in my berry bowls😁😁
