Trout Fishing | Pyramid Lake, CA

- First time fishing at Pyramid Lake in CA. They stocked 5,000lbs of Mt. Lassen trout ranging from 1-3lbs. Game plan was to do some catch & release of the smaller trout and keep the decent ones. Ended up with 8 total for the day. 7 on a gold kastmaster and 1 on bait (not recorded). The bite was good on shore for about 2 hours and then the trout moved into deeper water so those on boats were killing it.

That was a solid day of fishing. I was actually around the corner and managed 4 trout even with the 20-30 boats getting launched.

You slayed em, went yesterday and dud pretty good too. Did the same, limit and c&r to end a good session even better. I really like your setup and like you said, it's pretty quiet so they don't turn and look at you catching and swarm you after. 😂
haha that's the way to go when the bite is good. Yeah that quiet drag definitely helped me stay under the radar !
Your the first I've seen using that type of reel for trout fishing.
Ive only seen a handful of people using a bfs setup. It's definitely a lot of fun!

The way the video was edited made it feel like only u were catching them and on like every cast😂. Its cool to add some cast and retrieves with no bites or other bits here and there like maybe a funny conversation, people around u catching fish, etc. just my opinion 😅.
What set up are u using? Is that bait finesse system rod n reel? First video I've seen someone using a bait caster for trout fishing besides using it for bait and wait

Nice catches. I went fishing there in 2022. There are some big bass, stripers and smallies in that lake too. There is a really good guide at the lake that I used. If you’re interested I can pass you his info. Subbed to your channel.
Appreciate the view and the sub! Have you not gone back since bc you’re not local? I’ve heard about the great bass fishing this lake can produce, I might be down to give that a try some day.
@@itskimmayy12 I’m originally from the San Fernando Valley but moved to the eastcoast 8yrs ago but I go back often since all my family is there. I just didn’t get a chance to go back in 2023. Yup, always wet the hand when cnr, thanks for the reminder. Hard to see with the left leg blocking. You can see I also tried to unhook without grabbing the fish whenever possible. Those that I just snatched up, I kept.
