I started fishing around the age of 7. From then till age 16, I've accumulated a good amount of 1st-3rd place trophies competing in fishing derbies. Today I just compete against my brothers. I mainly fish freshwater lakes in the LA county area and surrounding counties and now expanding to saltwater.

I flew out to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to target peacock bass, mayan cichlids, largemouth bass, snakeheads, clown knife fish, and florida gars! First time fishing at Pyramid Lake in CA. They stocked 5,000lbs of Mt. Lassen trout ranging from 1-3lbs. Game plan was to do some catch & release of the smaller trout and keep the decent ones. For the last stocking I invited some friends to fish with me. Most stocking days on the black top are quick limits but they split the load this time around so hooking up took a bit longer than usual. I finally caved and bought myself a BFS reel. For those who don’t know, BFS stands for Bait Finesse System. So why the switch? It was a slow day at Fin and Feather until I stumbled upon a hungry school of trout. Every cast was a hit! I even got to catch my PB redear sunfish. I released it without even thinking of weighing it, but it was easily over a pound. The morning started off great with 2 fish within 5 minutes. Had to move around for the 3rd one. Took a lunch break due to no action anywhere near me and then the bite picked up shortly after that. That artificial blue that is added to the water has chemicals in it to help alleviate algae. I would never eat fish from a lake with this stuff in it or a city park lake.
I believe most people are in agreement with you on that
These fish are stocked, If you catch a stocked fish within a couple days of the stock, the risk of the dye bioaccumulating is very low.
How are you fishing the hook ups? I bounce mine off the bottoms but can never catch anything but see weed
I guess it would depend what species of fish you're targeting. I always work the hookup baits (HUB) mid-column for trout. I would suggest a quicker retrieve. I do sometimes let the HUB sink a bit and then start retrieving.

Those are tanks! ✊🏼 but I noticed your net is one of those folding nets. I recommend a rubber net like from Lost Creek. Because those folding nets are a pain to remove your hooks and of course if you’re releasing them the rubber net bag doesn’t remove their slimy skin. My buddy had one and I used it lol but great video and them hook up baits are fire ! 👍

The way the video was edited made it feel like only u were catching them and on like every cast😂. Its cool to add some cast and retrieves with no bites or other bits here and there like maybe a funny conversation, people around u catching fish, etc. just my opinion 😅. What set up are u using? Is that bait finesse system rod n reel? First video I've seen someone using a bait caster for trout fishing besides using it for bait and wait Looks like a fun time at pyramid!

Nice catches. I went fishing there in 2022. There are some big bass, stripers and smallies in that lake too. There is a really good guide at the lake that I used. If you’re interested I can pass you his info. Subbed to your channel.

Great video! I know i am late to the party but why mirage and not elixer?
To keep it short, the mirage is more flexible whereas the elixer is more stiff so I use the mirage bc it’s more suitable for jigging 🙂
