Trains at Reading 15/11/2023 - Great Western Main Line

Reading is situated on the Great Western Main Line. The station has 15 platforms. Train operating companies serving passengers include Great Western Railway, Elizabeth Line (MTR), Cross Country Trains, and South Western Railway. Freight companies also pass through.
The station has some of the best facilities on the network. There are not many stations once you go through the ticket barriers that can compete with Reading. Numerous shops and places to eat and drink. There are plenty of waiting rooms, toilets, and staff on hand to answer queries.
My video covers a two-hour period on a Wednesday afternoon. I filmed mainly from the Eastern end of platforms 8 & 9.

Verdict: One of my favourites on the Great Western Mainline, simply meets all my needs for spotting and facilities.

Great filming! Reading has to be an example of how to get a station done right, that is true. I must say i think the IETs do look their best in the GWR livery, sort of combining tradition with modern design. Didn't know SouthWestern trains call there. Also, the Elizabeth line Aventra trains add to the variety. really nice to watch. Thank you for your work, looked like an ideal day for some quality trainspotting.

Thank you, Reading certainly has plenty of action including a little bit of freight. IETs certainly divide opinion with the different liveries across the rail network. They also divide opinion on quality, build and passenger experience, basically the interiors not matching up to the sleek design of the exterior. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
