lol you basically got a charging station at your house with this method 😂 👏 very cool and great idea I hope the management of the apartment let you charge like this for as long as you would like
Connect to 220 V dryer outlet for faster charging speed 😅
lots of apartments uses a mini split heat pump that are powered from a NEMA 6-15 outlet. If that is your case you can use the 6-15 plug and provide 240 vac at 12 amps to your Tesla. This will be twice your current charging rate. This works for lots of motels as well.
Good thinking. Enjoy
Amazing. And hilarious at the same time.
thanks martin :)!
I'm doing something similar although only from a 1st floor apartment in a quiet cul-de-sac and conveniently there's a tree next to my balcony that hides the cable making it very hard to notice.
That sounds ideal!
Having worked in property management for 40 years this is not going to fly with fire insurance and other regulations. Personally I wouldn’t want to be in the apartment directly below yours.
Wait for someone to walk by and ask them to plug or unplug your tesla. 🤣
😅! that won’t work. i’ll have to send my phone down as well.
I would put a small cloth bag on the plug when lowering and raising it to avoid it getting damaged from scraping on the concrete floor.
good idea!!
good idea!
He took the two protein bars lol .. me and no one else lol
😂
Your charging pins might snap off or bend after few days. You need to relieve the weight of wire, tie it somewhere.
i’ve been charging for months. haven’t noticed any bend.
Start looking for that new apartment. EVs and home charging ... good. As you see.
Can't you get a permit from building management to have a wallbox if you already own a shed?
not planning on living here long term. plus building management is "planning" to install some chargers.
They dont know how they want to map the usage to my meter even if paid for installation. There are already few teslas in the building so im guessing they will add the chargers soon!
R U Crazy
Try that in California 😂 Police, Firefighters, Neighbors, people claiming they were shocked because of that cord dangling hi voltage
the license plate says California
move to the 1st floor!
Jesus
That would be illegal pretty much everywhere in Europe. 😂
Not allowed!
Your location is shown in google earth. Bottom right corner.
that’s fine. i don’t live there anymore :)
Just what I want to do after work, run up to my third-floor apartment, drop cable, run down three flights of steps, plug in back up another three flights and start charging. Than in morning run down the three flights, unplug and than run back up three flights to pull cord up. I know people love their EV, but sorry would rather spend the 3 minutes it takes me to fill up my tank
different strokes for different folks.
when you have a dog with you on 3rd floor apartment , you have to get up and down bunch of times every day regardless.
plus there is an elevator and taking stairs is my personal choice.
you can spend 3 minutes and couple hundred dollars in maintenance every few months and deal with raising gas prices , and i choose to run up and down 3 floors to charge my car everyday.
Having a live wire hanging is a serious fire hazard and completely illegal. You should immediately STOP this to ensure you don’t endanger other lives in your building. Please take down such a video or I will have to notify YT compliance department.
Not sure how it is any more dangerous than if it was plugged in next to the vehicle, apart from maybe someone cutting it. The biggest risk I see is someone not liking it and trying to sabotage it.
It’s not a live wire, it’s an insulated cable, the Tesla and the outlet themselves have circuit breakers that will trip and shut off if need be.🙄 if he noticed strain or damage to the cord and still used it that would be a different story/fire risk.
