The RCF NXL 24A MK2 are excellent cabinets with great products. I have 4 of them and they do a great job for all of my outdoor events with up to 800 people and probably more. They are coupled with 6 of the RCF 8006 Subs. Just love them.....
Thank you OPAZ for cool videos. One thing you don't mention(but certainly is aware of), is the vertical coverage angle. I have a set of 808 and 515 for smaller gigs, which I chose because of their weight and their 100X70 degree coverage. My concern about choosing NXL24A/44NXLA is their small vertical angle(25/30 degress). Isn't the NXL24A/44NXLA speakers much more sensitive when it comes to placement on stage and coverage of the audience? Fx if you are placed 1,5 meter on a high stage or if you have a low ceiling, where you can't rise you speakers?
The tight focus is perfect for the larger outdoor events where much throw is necessary. Maybe the weight size and build is a reflection of the environment that they are most suited to which is outdoors in large areas where that tight focus can open up at the extreme distances, especially when they need to battle with the elements. The more lightweight options with wider coverage as you say are much more suited to those intimate locations/events Thank you Ronnie for your valuable comments/contribution to this channel
@@opaz. That makes good sense. Especially if you place the speaker maybe 10 meters away from the audience. Then the vertical coverage will open more up and hit the audience better. The best would be to mount the fly bar in order to throw the sound directly to the audience instead of above the audience. But that's above my needs when playing music. For indoor events up to maybe 300-400 people I would prefer ART 945-A for a quick setup (no sound engineer) to be sure that the coverage will be okay. I guess ART 945-A would be a step down from the NXL series - do you have any opinion on that? (we'll keep any subs out of this talk) 🙂
Digging all the JBL and RCF action on your channel. Definitely looking to get into NXLs and some 8004s when they're in stock. Trying to get out to hear some before placing an order.
The 44's are pricier and heavier. They have significantly better mids and the clarity and quality of the highs are incredible, better than the 24's. To boot, the bass from the 44's is very weighty for 10's and the overall SPL power is every reason Ray to go for the 44's. You will not be disappointed. A demo will echo every word that I'm saying. Good luck 👍🏻
Interesting ! On the face of it there seems quite a significant difference between the 44's & 24's. But ... ! Just recorded both sections of your audio and the 44's peak at -2.31db and 24's peak at -4.45db - so that certainly accounts for some of the difference. However.. When both audio files are normalised to 0db the 44's definitely sound fuller and still sound louder although that maybe due to the wider stereo field the 44 recording seems to have ( peak LUFS with normalised files are pretty similar) I have a pair of 24 mk2's which I do like ( largely purchased on the back of your review!) , although I would have purchased the 44's at the time if I could have got hold of any.. 44's are in stock again and I'm feeling the need to scratch that itch! Still a bit bothered by that 25 deg vertical dispersion though and performance in smaller venues.. Anyway, many thanks for this upload - there is so little real-world info or reviews on these products, so yours is much appreciated.
Forget about the angled degrees, 44's are so much better than the 24's Still love the 24's for being a better portable option and still extremely effective for their size
Opaz, i love your videos. So im in the process of updating my mains from some QSC kw153s. I recently purchased some HDM45a for DJ type events and some smaller live sound gigs that don't require a sub due to venue size. I also do outdoor stuff and am now getting bigger gigs and the kw153 just do not throw well outside. Im currently looking at NXL 44 a mk2, nx985 or some TTw4-a. The ttl6a are out of price range and too heavy. What do you think the best choice would be? I currently have two QSC ks118 subs and may add a third. I ideally will always do center cluster subs in cardioid mode with speakers L/R on k&m heavy-duty crank stands sandbagged down. What is the best rcf option to upgrade for 500+ person outdoor lawn type events? The hdm45 could also be used as relays on a delay from the mixing console as well on conjunction with the mains if need be. Thanks for all the rcf videos!
Kai thanks for viewing the videos, appreciate it. I am new to outdoor events and learning. I still have the L plates. As you state and I know, just like the 152's the 153's just don't work. If I had to buy once, it would be the NXL 44's they have so much power, extremely accurate HF's (cleaner than the 24's) and they really do penetrate through with amazing throw. They 44's also have an impressive low end performance. Forget the TT4A's you don't need them. The TTL6 though, oh my god!!. I know they're heavy but they are phenomenal, out-of-this-world!! 😍. I have never heard the NX985. I know it has impressive spec but I think you'll need to demo them or get further expert advice on it, if it will suit your requirements. That expert advice may just also touch on other speakers that we haven't even mentioned. All the very best and good luck with your upgrade 👍🏼
Pair of RCF NXL-44A or pair of RCF ART 945A, which is better for both sound clarity and price wise ? Can these pair of speakers can handle Dj dance floor about 300 people without any sub ? - Mostly will be playing R&B and Hip-hop music. ( we do use subs, but I just wanna see if these speakers can handle it without a distorting sound)
Oh my GOD!!. .. If you get the 44's you will never need tops ever again. Better for sound, better for clarity but not price. They will cost a lot but so worth the money All the best
Hi! so after digging and hearing many of your videos what would you suggest for me right now I have pair of 735 and two 8004 subs and need an upgrade what will be the best run and gun for me- 945?745? oaths NX L 24? mostly indoor and outdoor events up to 500 people..
Although they have a tight coverage angle, I think people often forget that sound from speakers (or any sound) bounces off surfaces, walls etc. These speakers are more at home in larger or outdoor events but they will also perform very well indoors with a great level of clarity at low volumes in smaller venues.
Thanks for your answers... Any thoughts which speaker for instance 10 active speaker works well in this conditions...low volume and also loud volume. It's a problem couse on my gigs volume changes a lot, from very low volume to loud, so I am looking for universal speaker... We are playing mostly pop, country and rock music. Thanks again and Best Regards
OPAZ do you think the RCF NXL-24a Mk2 would work well with a Yamaha DXS18 XLF I already own? Would like to have a telephone conversation with you if possible I'm in Greater Manchester.
I honestly have no idea (no experience with the DXS18 XLF) if it will be a correct fit as you will need to pair well to obtain a good balance of frequencies. I don't think you can get it wrong, It may just work but that is something only you will know/be happy with.

Nxl 24a mk2 vs nx 985a? That would be amazing. Nice work here!
Nx 985 should be much more powerful in every way

Hello, I have one question…How these speaker works at low volume in some small indoor events 30-80 people….How they cover the space. Thanks.

Hi, is the coverage of 4 NXL24 comparable to 2 NXL44?
Good question. I've never tried unfortunately but I'd rather have 2 NXL44's as they sound fuller & stronger and are all-round better performers
Watching from Vancouver. How many people would you comfortably cover with a pair of NXL-24A with 18" subs? Say a large hall.
These will outrun a lot of 18 subs, very good subs with these 500+
How do the nxl44a compare to the art 945a?
That's an easy one, look at the specs online and you'll find all comparison info that you need
@@opaz. the info is pretty even. That’s what I’m asking cause for this one you would have to listen to them and I know you’ve posted videos on both.
Whats the background music title?
no idea
@@opaz. The Title of reggae music playing on the video ?
Does your NXL24A MK2 HF driver distorts? for example when using pianos live, even at low volumes?
No distortion from mine. Bands have used mine but none with piano, I mainly use them for prerecorded music
