    Such a big fan of Hope hubs. I have a Hope pro 2 Hub in my Dirt Jumper that was bought in 2012. I ride this bike about 4 times a week and the hubs still performs excelently. I don't understand how this is possible. Never serviced the hub or anything except for one bearing swap in these years. Big up to this company :)

    Was just thinking last week that this should be soon here with the push for higher POE and the fact that the Pro4 had been around for a good bit. Been on Hope since the Pro2 SS back in '07, now have 5 wheelsets built on either Pro2 or Pro4 and always super happy with the price to performance of them. Considering doing the pawl mod to one of the Pro4s to up engagement to 88 and see how that goes.

    Lots of comments on this already but I too hope you'll make an SS/Trials version. Personally I am in no hurry to get a new one since my 2008 pro 2 trials is still going strong, but when the time comes I'll be looking for another hope hub. And I always recommend them to others. The extra flange-center distance on the drive side really helps wheel strength and stiffness.

    • @cypherdelic
      @cypherdelic ปีที่แล้ว

      "serviceability"... oh except you have a Pro4... that is old... its too complicated to create a freehub like that for that old product, huh?
      Do you get where the "service" is? GONE
      Service is... "End of Life" (like the Pro4 now)... theres only greed left!
      They took your money... they dont care servicing you with your existing product.... they create something new and then they tell you: "Not for the old modell, please buy new"
      Would have been too easy ... just buy a new freehub... happy happy customer. Na... you forgot how greedy the business man is!
      Thats how they invest your money.... into fooling you out of servcie for your product.
      Thats serviceability.... a piece of sh... cake! Dont trust it...
      When it is about time they come up with a Pro 6... and everything is incompatible to Pro5, and they tell you all that BS again!
      Sooner or later... its always the same.
      They dont care you... there is no service!
      Servicing you with your existing product is hurting their sales.... they only care creating new incompatible products, so you have to buy the hole story new again! You must be stupid to fall for that!

    One thing that you still haven’t tackled is that the single speed, trials, bmx and other riders would love a 9,10,11t driver I know niche but I think it would be a huge game changer even if sold as a separate items to add to the hubs as a wearable part

    • @Ganiscol
      @Ganiscol ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Single speed is also relevant for gearbox mountain bikes. Using Hope for that has been a hassle as it required swapping out the bolt-on axle at an extra cost, so other brands got the nod instead.

    I generally keep my parts for a long time and try and transfer them from bike to bike. I have used a lot of Hope products in the past and have a pro 4 on the rear of one of my bikes, but for me, Chris King offers better value for money. My threaded King bb is about 13 years old and still on the original bearings. Realistically that would be 10-13 sets of bearings in the bin on a hope bb based on my previous experience and so £400 in replacement bearings and probably another £200 in labour over that time. The £109 CK investment all that time ago has paid off and it would probably still get £50-60 on ebay if sold. Just to add, Nukeproof bbs have a 2 year bearing warranty and I got one for a gravel bike for £35. Hope only have confidence to warranty their bearings for 1 year and RRP is £105 for a bb.

    • @ianiscaratti4924
      @ianiscaratti4924 ปีที่แล้ว

      let a bike shop do the bb regrease and do the math again. I'm also a ck bb guy but nothing beats hope hubs. dt are much cheaper and very good too but hope is the benchmark. i can just smash those hub until the bearings are fucked and easily press in some new ones without special tool. ch hubs need special tools anr regular very timeconsuming maintenanc. to each theyre own

    • @zer0534
      @zer0534 ปีที่แล้ว

      +1 for hope bb. I've got about 20,000 miles on my press fit hope bb. I take the chainset off and give it a clean once in a while and change the drive side bearing once a year. Very smooth and creek free. Silent even. My rs4 hubs are great too. Done about 15000 on them and changed the bearings once. I like that I can do it myself with the right hope tools too. Rims, seat posts and brake calipers on the other hand not so good. Broken two sets of seat post clamps as the aluminium just failed across the rails section. Gave up with it and got a thomson. Replaced a busted sram force caliper with a hope one. Squeeled like a mo fo whatever I did with it and can't get swissstop pads for them. Put a sram back on.... I've cracked two rear 20five rims from albeit rough british roads. Can't fault the guys at hope for customer service though. They've replaced everything that failed. Prob the best customer service from any company ever.

      They made sure that the new freehub is incompatible to the Pro4.... for sure! Me fool buying Hope! Never again!
      Releasing a compatible freehub for Pro4 is "technically" impossible... buy Pro5... lol
      It would have been so easy making it compatible... everyone knows it!
      I waited so long for a new freehub for Pro4 like that... and this is what they come up with from MY money? Incompatibility for MY stuff of them, for sure! Buy the hole thing again!
      Time to realise: they only take money... but they dont support you back with their product!
      They want you to put their stuff to trash and buy their new stuff which is incompatible to the old.
      Like Shimano does all the times... lol. "Oh you need a new, its not compatible anymore" *teasinnipples
      Making it incompatible to Pro4 to force buying new was their worst decision ever! That going to hurt their sales! Fans drop off!
      They didnt won me to buy the Pro5... instead they just lost me completely. Cant recommend this manufacturer anymore.
      I dont even go buy the Pro4-freehub again, when this one is damaged then i go replace the hole rims and hubs with different manufacturers'. No cent anymore to Hope! No support for that company!
      I dont want to see that brand on my bike again... i love to buy DTSwiss as soon as possible. Cant wait to get rid of this brand!

    We got two of these for our daughters th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L the same size for age 6 and 9. It works very well for both girls. Gears were very easy for them to learn. Changing gears up takes some hand strength and is a bit hard, but they are learning. They did not come with water bottle holders- we actually got confused and thought the Derailler Guard was the bottle holder!! Regardless of these details, the bikes are fantastic- even our six year old who only just learned to ride bikes caught on within an hour of practice and loves it. Lightweight and easy for them to handle. All the parts are in excellent condition and the bikes are easy to assemble and very well packaged. Great choice for kids!
