- Here I discuss how to add a date magnifier also known as a cyclops to a watch. Very easy to do in under 5 minutes. As our eyesight diminishes over time a date magnifier is a great way to make the date more readable. The ice thing about adding a cyclops is that it is reversible. Date magnifier and special glue was purchased off AliExpress.
Thanks for the great video! I never knew that these could be added to watches! I'm looking to add a circle-shaped one to one of my watches. I'm looking to find a sapphire crystal one, but where could I get one? I'm in BC. Thanks!
I was really waiting for the part about how you clean up the excess glue without moving the cyclops. Oh well will try another video....
I think it involves a scalpel. Not sure if that's ok on mineral chrystals.
Cleanup is super easy use a Q-tip and or a toothpick with acetone.
I'm thinking about using JB Super Weld UV glue intead
That one will set only with the uv light .
I feel like this video was made specifically for me 😂 I have the same watch only difference is mine has the day. I’m glad I found this video definitely adding a cyclops to my Tudor glamour. Thank you!
Great clear video! Is the cyclops still secure, after these months? I would love it if you could provide link to the glue you used. And the crystal too (although I was able to find a link on AliExpress). Thanks!
@chriscuomo9334if only there was this website you could go to and enter a few words and get results for any subject from around the world. That would be so convenient, but instead we must resort to being hand held thru life because we don't have any way to gather information on our own.
@chriscuomo9334 lol who said I was a pro if you ask nicely I would be more then happy to answer your questions. Thanks for watching
Cyclops I added has had zero issues and has stayed clear and solidly in place
Just what I was looking for and needed, thanks 🙏
Nice work! I want to try adding a cyclops to my Tissot Gentleman. It has a slight dome on crystal but maybe one will still work
You did not show how to dry it
This video is so interesting and helpfully. Thank you for your time and effort.
Thanks so much for this video. Just got a few cyclops in. Considering adding them to my Willard homage and possibly my Casio Duro.
Did you pick up some glue?
@@canadianwatchmonkey3992 It actually arrived today! I put cyclops on my Duro and my Steeldive Willard homage. After a little work and cleanup they both came out great! I appreciate your vid.
@@dadandvideogamesI've just bought a Steeldive Willard that should arrive in 10 days. Would you care to share the specs on the cyclops and glue you've used? Also, if possible, how did you clean/remove the excessive glue at the end? Thanks in advance.
Sir, please guide me how to take the cyclops out. Thank you very much for your clips
Hello, how to remove the cyclops? Im afraid Tudor might have AR coating done outside and in that case, we would damage the crystal when we try to scrape the cyclops off. And it wouldn’t be worth it. Can you confirm if the cyclops can be removed safely on this model?
I prefer them under the glass like citizen do it. UV glue is good for this as it will only start to set with a UV light.
Thanks for the video very helpful.i bought a cyclops for my watch haven't put it on yet.
Surely a lot easier if you add masking tape to give some sort of idea about where to put it before adding UV setting glue and a UV light to activate it?
Didnt realise it was that simple a process .Thanks for the tutorial
So what chemical etc. do you use to clean off the glue--??????
honestly once it tries you can just use a tooth pick but isopropyl alcohol removes it as well
Acetone / nail polish remover works perfect. Have done it easily
@@zackz1260 you are correct!! It can be picked off with a tooth pick or if you have sapphire crystal you can use a razor blade
Excellent video. Thanks for posting! Personally, I think that a cyclops is the most masculine detail that someone can add to a tool watch. It just looks badass.
I think a cyclops looks awful. Ruins the otherwise smooth surface of the crystal.
Can i use the glue to glue two watch glass together?
Links to AliExpress?
No UV lamp needed to harden the glue?
What size cyclops did you add to the Glamour date as I need one on mine.
2.5
I hate cyclops and many times I would buy a watch but it have it-Alpinist,some Balls.Ive heard that trying to remove kills the gaskets under the crystal and its water resistance.
I have had no issues removing them with simple nail polish remover, just make sure to try not to get it on the sides are back of the watch.
Some balls, indeed.
Depends. If youre excessively rough (fullsize hammer rough, not tapping) or spill chemicals on the seals then yeah. It will damage it. But if you are able to snap it off without making the watch take much impact or if you keep it absolutely clean then it will be fine.
Easiest way though is probably just to get a watchmaker to do it or to replace the crystal with one which you actually like
👍
Who would want to add this abomination to an otherwise nice watch?
I know!
People ruin their faces by wearing ugly glasses too!
They are so selfish and short sighted-thinking of their comfort rather than their looks!
@@brianjones3191 awesome response! How dare I choose function over form lol 😝
A person with not so great vision lol 😝. I’m 59 maybe when your a little older you’ll get it.
“Waaah its so stereotypical I hate it because imm different”
I like being able to see the date thanks
The cyclops is an ugly Rolex rip-off. Buy better glasses or a calendar if you need the date.
@@justmeeagainn you’re a very special person
NEVER use the glue he did - UV glue ONLY. Ashamed a watch ruined forever. Good example of what NOT to do.
Totally incorrect! If you watch my how to remove a cyclops you’ll see the glue I used is very easy to remove. Just for your information the glue I used is the exact glue my watch maker uses and they are an official Seiko repair facility here in Vancouver.
Honestly this glue does not harden enough if you swim with your watch on .... Also does not dry clear...Use UV glue
@@lanceharriss9001 I have done 5 watches of mine and none of them have come off. If you watch my video on how to remove a cyclops you’ll see that its on plenty solid enough but you don’t need to take my word for it, but it works for me. As far as drying clear goes it most definitely does.
