The main problemis with the Aliexpress cyclops itself. The vast majority of them have terrible magnification. It’s either too big or small, not even close to something you would get on a higher quality watch. My go to now is to never order their cases with the cyclops, due to how terrible they are.
If I wanted to build a no date submariner, what movement should I use? Do I still order an nh35 movement and just use a different dial? Trying to avoid the cyclops so now I'm planning to get a normal submariner case. Thanks alot! Great video btw
If you want to do no date I’d use the NH38. If you use the NH35 you end up with a ghost position on the crown, where the date wheel spins but obviously you can’t see it. You can also get a sub case without the cyclops, completely up to your preference obviously. NH38 link: this one is on sale and has a stack of reviews/ sales. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mKLPXYs
I think I would have removed the crystal and done this. The crystal is held in place by pressure fit into a tiny plastic spacer ring. By heating with the watch assembled you might have compromised/melted that plastic holder/spacer. Just an observation.
Looks so much better without that cyclops!
Not
@AnneewakeeChampions Did you like the cyclops better?
@@modsandmovements Absolutely. If it's out of alignment, just rotate the crystal a bit if you have the tools to remove the crystal.

Yea I probably would if I was to do it again TBH. Most of the other tutorials I watched did it fully assembled which seem like a bad idea too lol.
