    Swedish submarines would know long before Russia even knew that they would attack..

      This is also only factoring in some hypothetical Russia vs Sweden 1 on 1 scenario. In reality Russia would also need to somehow handle the threat of Blue Spear missiles from Estonia and Gabriel V missiles from Finland. Both of those are jamming resistant, long range sea-skimmer anti-ship missiles, perfectly within range to attack Russian ships in the gulf of Finland or just outside of it. It looks quite comical watching the battle in this video occur with the suddenly attacking Russian naval forces sitting right on the Estonian coast, with their backs turned towards Estonia. At that point(as well as beforehand) Blue Spear missiles could be launched from literally anywhere in Estonia and reach the Russian ships. They were purchased specifically for such a scenario and mounted on trucks so they're more difficult to detect and quicker to launch from any location.

      In the current war, we can see Russia's naval fleets main vulnerability appears to have been naval drones + Neptune missiles(which are basically lower-tier compared to Israeli Gabriel V and Blue Spear). They took significant casualties and it forced them to move their black sea fleet back to preserve it. And the black sea fleet and it's defenses are significantly more nomerous and capable than the one in the Baltic and there's much less space and depth in and around the gulf of Finland than in the black sea. It seems like attack vessels would be more or less sitting ducks.
      Furthermore in this video, Tupolevs are just cruising right next to Tallinn when there's NATO air force units patrolling the area and Estonian IRIS-T anti-air systems will be stationed there next year. Latvia is also acquiring Norwegian 'Naval Strike Missile' units, which could also easily reach Russian forces in such a battle.
      Though, we should also factor in Russian naval forces in Kaliningrad, though those would likely be busy with Polish and Lithuanian forces(specially considering the NATO deployments there).

    Kanonbra! Tack så mycket! Very, very interesting.
    Actually Gotland is a place I have long wanted to visit. Thinking of renting a place in Visby for a month, in summer of course.

    Ahh The Grim Reapers and their SAAB flights...., One do wonder though how well their Chrismass flight wouldve have gone in real life?
    I would say that it wouldve have ended Flygvapnets operational abilities for atleast a decade.
    Best regards.

    Should probably talk about the politics to be able to initiate such kind of defence too. I dont know if any of the nordics mobilizing this fast. What are your thoughts? I will install DCS now.

      Many of the systems are actually already in place in the vicinity of Gotland, including additional very capable systems not mentioned in the video....all public info, so no opsec risk at the moment. American units also regularly do joint exercises with swedish units on Gotland, to strenghten it even further.

      @@henrikstolpe I think you misunderstand my comment. My point was that the attacker would have a first strike advantage. Would Sweden launch a counter attack this fast? I understand if they declare war and such, but I don't believe Russia would declare war.

    • @henrikstolpe
      @henrikstolpe 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I cant tell you much about our posture right now as it is classified.. Its not really a counterattack though, its basically our surveillance radars and submarines detecting an attack and then activating the SAM systems and the RBS15 batteries and scrambling fighters. They are always on standby these days...As to the amount of Gripen we can scramble, I dont know and if I did I wouldnt tell :)@@OrIoN1989

      @OrIoN1989 don't you think there would be any intelligence available beforehand? Also surely Finland or the Baltics would give heads up?

    • @henrikstolpe
      @henrikstolpe 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@simonkjaeldgaard-greisingyes there would be changes in deployment of units, people and supplies, communication, radarmodes etc that will be detected.

    From 1142 to 1809, Sweden fought with Russia 16 times, and in World War II helped the Germans with iron ore and logistics. I think if there is a war in the year 25, it will last 15 minutes...

      In what way is the number of past wars linked to the length of future wars? What historical events are behind the assessment that Ukraine can be taken in three days?
