Good Morning J T. That's Great news about your yield 🎉. Ya, air conditioning is always nice, but back in my youth, we didn't know what that was. None of our equipment ever had a cab, or even a umbrella 😮. The Ol Massey Harris combine, Super 92 I think, was a great machine, but very dusty. Hey hope you have a Great Harvest. I'm still thinking about the 55 J D. What a great restoration project 😅.
It's always nice to see someone who knows the correct reel speed to run. I see lots of videos with the reel running so fast that it has to be shattering the pods before they ever get into the header. My dad taught me to time the bats with your ground speed for a gentle push. Hope you have a good year!

Hey Joe,,good to see it's working out great. Excellent news on the beans. The 4420 seems to be a really solid machine. I'll hoist a blue mountain in yer honor. Cheers 🍻
That's awesome, 50 bushel per acher. It's not like your spending a million dollars to get your crops. But the important thing is you're not losing money this year. Great update, JT.
Back in 1992 JD brought out the Z Series combine and we were one of the first to get one. She would throw a lot over the back and would crush a few grains. The JD bosses came out to see her perform, we told them of the problem. They said we were going too slow as it was designed to process heavy bulk. We raised the speed and it worked. Was the best combine we ever had.
Hey JT, when you went around the corner at the elevator and nobody was there it reminded me of the movie " Summer Vacation" when they got to Walley World and it was closed. 😅
Hey JT, Don't forget the zerk fittings on the big pillow-block bearings on each end of the cylinder. They're miserable to reach (or even to find) especially on the radiator side of the 6600. Missing them cost one of my customers big-time when he told me he never did get them on the radiator side. It took me the better part of a day to get everything stripped down. Everything from the cylinder vari-drive drive, counter shaft pulleys, belts, and all the other stuff on the end of the cylinder drive shaft has to come off to get to the pillow blocks. Then there was getting the remains of the bearing off of the shaft. Suffice to say, it's easier to just grease those zerks. Hope you keep getting great yields right through corn harvest. Maybe use some of the profits for a Massey Ferguson 38 combine(?)

Sorry. One too many Coors Lights. I hope my point was to be cylinder speed. You need a common cylinder speed for type grain to thresh. Corn, Beans or small grain. Your cylinder is 22 inches diameter. Work the formula back for cylinder rpm. Get it in neighborhood and your concave adjustments are critical. Actually for this era, JD owners manual settings are identical for MF except JD has you adjust these setting in opposite sequence. The point is if you have adjustable settings close you will have: better threshing, less returns and a whole lot less on the ground behind you. If you can thresh it ain't the combine:)
