I just love you guys! You seem so happy. I too have started fermenting. My first trial is sauerkraut. It will be ready soon. Please keep us updated with other fermenting that we can try. The juicing looked good. I may have to try that too.
Choose to not include sugar/honey/maple syrup. I missed my home brewed kombucha so much. Then I discovered if you extend the ferment time to 5-6 weeks and then dilute the kombucha with sparkling water I can enjoy!! Makes me so happy! So enjoy your smiling faces! I ferment any/all veggies. Onions, cauliflower or carrots are a favorite.
I have babies from my white crested black polish rooster and Americana hen. They are my little crows, all black with black crested topknots. They are 2 months old now. Can’t wait to see what they look like when they are grown.
Yes please on the kombucha! And definitely need some fermenting videos! I have fermented some jars of carrots, garlic, watermelon rind, peppers, and cucumbers! They are so healthy and help in digestion!
You know, out of all the seeds I do have, kale isn't one of them. I thought I had more, but I don't. So, I will be making the trek to the feed store today to hopefully buy some. Y'all should be able to grow some in your zone through winter, too. Love y'all! Stay blessed and happy 🤪
We love fermenting too! Just put kombucha away for a 2nd ferment and I will be making kimchi and sauerkraut this week. As always, love your videos. Congrats with the success with hatching your chicks. Love that!
A friendly word on the sourdough starter… I too, followed the VW family Farms recipe for sourdough starter. I nurtured that baby. I fed it every 12 hours. I made my bread. It was good. I broke out in hives which led to dermatitis which led to me being put on two rounds of steroids to get rid of it. In February I was diagnosed diabetic....I hadn’t had any wheat products since feb. Until that bread. So apparently I Now have a wheat allergy which I’ve never had in my life. This was the ultimate food sensitivity test that I didn’t plan on doing LOL. The bread was fabulous though.
A big Family Homestead blog they put out a video this past week on really good stuff for colds and stuff just wanting to share that with you if you missed it I like to see your video how to make the medicine in the jar sorry I forgot the name of it already LOL I love your show and everything you guys do prayers to stay healthy and stay strong love your all ❤️🙏😊
It's called Fire Cider or Master Tonic. There are several different recipes that have similar items added to it but also things that everyone doesn't use. Guess if your not crazy about that particular flavor you can cut back or add more depending on your own tastes. If you like spicy or hotter peppers instead of Jalapeno's uses Serrano's. Adjust it to you and your family's needs and also be aware of how each ingredient may be beneficial to you
I opened my incubator once I took it in the bathroom and got the room all warm and steamy It seemed to work well. Hi miss Jen when I use to do sourdough I use to lay out some wax paper and put teaspoons full on it use the back of the spoon to thin them out into thin rounds let it dry out then it was dry I would store it in an airtight container then I could rehydrate it if my sourdough got left too long and went bad or I wanted to share it
One little trick for baby chicks, when you have a small amount of them put a feather duster..the old fashioned ones or next time you eat a chicken, save some feathers to make the duster..baby chicks really thrive good..had 300 baby chicks and feather dusters in pen,,never lost but one baby. They huddled under at night..
I love our Americanas, Austrolorpes, and Golden Wing Wyandottes. So cool to see the babies. I most likely didn't spell correctly....LOL Love Devotionals. I've never fermented food but it's definitely on my list to try. Would love to see fermenting videos. Have a great rest of the weekend. Blessings
Oh! Make shrub. It's a concentrated juice with 1/3 smashed fruit, 1/3 honey or maple syrup, and 1/3 apple cider vinegar. Leave it on the counter and shake it a few times a day. After a few days to a week you can strain it. Mix it with water, ice tea, tonic water, seltzer water or even pop. I got the recipe from Doug and Stacy's site.
I would love to have the kombucha video update. I lost my scoby last year when I had my hip done and wasn't able to take care of it. I am just in the process of starting another one. So far I have 3 small jars of starter on the go and 2 of them have grown a small scoby. I started them with a store bought bottle of kombucha , just drank half of it and used the thick stuff from the bottom of the bottle to start the new ones. I love to experiment and it is so much fun watching the new Scoby start to form.
I love fermenting galic cloves in raw honey. Drizzle the honey over your stir fry and it's super yummy! If you like spicy food, try kimchi. It's easy to make.
@@pamelaleitman9200 it's so easy to do. You need a quart size mason jar, raw honey, and about 4 heads of garlic. Peel all the garlic and put it in the jar. Pour your honey over it. Put a lid on it and burp it daily. Swirl it around a few times daily to make sure the garlic is coated. In 4 weeks, it's ready. 😁
Black garlic in cheap rice cookers from the thrift store. Colloidal Silver for all kinds of ailments. Doctors used it before antibiotics came along. It works so much faster and is so much better for you.
Rainy day so black bean soup for dinner tonight. I'm planning to start fermenting next year. Mostly I want to do fermented hot sauce, pickles, sauerkraut, and vegetables. Also planning to start sourdough this winter since baking is my pastime when it's cold outside.
I've hatched polish mix chickens. If you are going to get a 'crown', you will see a little bit of the poof now. I have never had one come out with the full 'crown'. I could only see two of them up close, and one of them has a mini 'crown'. :)
I am going to look into your incubator, I have been wanting one, just didn't want to pay a huge price. Fifty to sixty bucks sounds great to me. Thank you so much for sharing this video, I really enjoyed it. You all are great :) Have a Blessed Week **HUGS & PRAYERS** from Kelly and the critters at Piney Haven Homestead.
My mom used to hatch out our chicks with a lamp and a low watt bulb every year and she had a spray bottle with water and she would mist the eggs and turn them 4 to 6 times a day and they would all hatch every time, she said her mom taught them all when they were kids, so that's really old school
awwww so cute!!! My chickens always start hatching on day 18. Lol and they can stay in for 48 hours after hatching. :) but I like to break rules too and I take them out when it starts to get crowded (I hatch big batches of 42 at a time) lol 😂 usually around 24 hours or so. We love hatching! :)
I use baby gates to cover my chicks, lol my cats lay on top of them and stare with great interest😂so they are needed The fermenting is something in getting into.. I love andreas sourdough vids
I have ducks in my incubator now - and I have two of those incubators. But if you want to see something hatch fast - hatch quail! Crazy fast hatching and growing!!
Those chicks...and the white goat (forgot her name) is such a ham for the camera. Elderberry syrup is fantastic during flu season great preventative. Please do a video on your ferments and kombucha. Your making want to juice. Good job Zach for keeping a smile on your face when drinking the juice with the kale powder...LOL!!
You can go to Off Grid with Doug and Stacy's and she does a lot of fermenting, and I checked on the shipping of the stuff I ordered for y'all and Roots and Refuge farm it will be in by Nov. 11th is what they said , so when it all comes in I will get it sent off, Love you guys, God Bless
Baby crates? Is THAT where babies come from? Lol. I think you meant baby gates. I just love you guys, and I love your adorable word mix-ups and mispronunciations! It makes you guys human and just completely endearing. Especially, since you guys have a such a great sense of humor and can laugh at yourselves and each other! Looking forward to next weekend!!

I fermented banana peppers like Sarah from Living Traditions showed. They are really good, I like them better than pickled. My family members like them too. Was super easy. I made sauerkraut kraut in a crock and it did great. Take care
I ferment a lot of okra, banana peppers, garlic, lemon, sauerkrat...yum! Fermenting hot peppers tonight..gonna try making my own hot sauce before Thanksgiving.
Me too Lori, tried making kale chjps but they were too fragile and kept breaking up so I just put them through my grinder and do as you do, add to soups, stews, scrambled eggs etc.,
I also took the chantrel mushrooms that I picked, and dried them. Then I used my dry container on my vitamix and grind them into powder. Used it in my spaghetti sauce etc. Its great.
@@loritanner4478 Great idea Lori. I guess you can dehydrate just about anything and grind it up to add nutrients to your other foods. All my grown kids are getting dried herbs from my garden for Christmas. My Christmas theme this year is grow it, make it or bake it but don't buy it. I would love to see your scoby how to. LOVE Andrea at VW Farms. I'm definitely going to make breads, ALSO Kevin at Living Traditions Homesteaders has some great recipes as well.
Jenn and Zach, I loved today's video.......what am I saying........I love ALL your videos.,,,,,,,but today's was exceptional. You both look so happy and I am so excited to learn more about juicing. I buy the frozen fruit at Dollar Tree and you get a good-sized bag for $1. It is much more expensive everywhere else. Zach, I think if you put in frozen strawberries and a touch of frozen kale and a touch of Stevia, you make even like it!!! It is Raining here all day, too, in Jasper, IN. I love you guys! and Wyatt and Raelyn, of course! P.S.: I use water in my protein shakes to save calories........but milk would make it better yet!
have enjoyed sauerkraut forever.. this year started making my own. my kids and I are Loving it. moving on up to ginger bug for ginger beer and tried some carrots (not to bad at all) and squash (not good tasting, but interesting to watch), garlic turns blue no matter the kind of salt used and onions... ohh my goodness so freakin tasty! very much looking forward to watching Jen and following along in my kitchen :D
Ferment lemons for cooking with chicken and stuff. Nice to have lemon to cook with always. You can ferment with salt for cooking. You can also cover lemon slices with honey for tea. I know you love tea 🍵
Your rain is heading this way....southeast va. Cute chicks!! I’d like to see a kombucha video start to finish. Also have you made kefir? I think it’s similar. Thanks. Wish I could be there next week. ☹️
Jen...I love Lisa's Teurkust's books and Bible studies. She is such a gifted teacher and encouraged of women...and a woman if the Word. The "Embraced" devotional sounds very interesting to me, especially for where I am right now. You sure enspire me with all your productive fermentation. I've been spending too much on store bought kombucha and need to stop buying it and start making my own. Currently I ration the store bought stuff which costs me $2.50 per pint on sale! Costs more than gasoline for my car. Ugh Zach...would ya quit trying to get me to start hatching baby chicks please. (LOL) I am so tempted but have no where to put them which is probably the only thing stopping me right now or I might become the crazy chicken lady in my neighborhood overnight. Love chickens and hope to have some again one day. Those babies are adorable...even the teenagers are in their own awkward way. Hey, what is that standing up on the homeschool table behind you guys that looks like a 3D coloring project?
I started a sourdough starter last week so I can bake some breads during the winter months. I have some kefir going and when I get tired of it I freeze it. So I took mine out of the freezer this week, put in fridge to thaw a few days and now have it back on the counter getting it to perk back up. Making some yogurt tomorrow, I got to pick up my milk today. I loved this videos y'all
amazing video I love this I make kombucha and second ferments and sourdough and other ferments like kraut and peppers and fermenting vegs I also do my own fermented soda so good for gut health.loe the devotionals to I do a bible study each day Jen
My favorite ferment is water kefir! It takes almost daily attention but it’s so quick and delicious! It’s sort of like kombucha but much easier and without the vinegar taste.
Hello, I have a question. I watch my TH-cam on my TV so I like ur videos but when I go to it from my phone it doesn't show that I had already liked ur video. So can you tell me exactly where I need to hit the thumbs up at so it counts for you all, please.
I hatched ducks once with a broody hen. I was stupid and tried to hatch Call Ducks for the first time. FAIL. My kid was really sick at the same time when they were trying to hatch and it was a disaster. Chickens are easy!
Great video on all the things! Zach is like my family saying goodbye after a get together. The men all know that when the goodbyes start, they will still be going on an hour later. Haha! love it!
Fermenting chicken feed is AWESOME! I was scared to try it for a long time but it's so easy.

Would love to see a video on how to make fire cider and the kombucha❤
Jen...I love Lisa's Teurkust's books and Bible studies. She is such a gifted teacher and encouraged of women...and a woman if the Word. The "Embraced" devotional sounds very interesting to me, especially for where I am right now.
You sure enspire me with all your productive fermentation. I've been spending too much on store bought kombucha and need to stop buying it and start making my own. Currently I ration the store bought stuff which costs me $2.50 per pint on sale! Costs more than gasoline for my car. Ugh
Zach...would ya quit trying to get me to start hatching baby chicks please.
J. Dawn Beckett it counts on both places as 2 different likes
@@SampsonFarms ok thank you.
I hatched ducks once with a broody hen. I was stupid and tried to hatch Call Ducks for the first time. FAIL. My kid was really sick at the same time when they were trying to hatch and it was a disaster. Chickens are easy!
I love fermented carrots, have you done them, yet/
Do you have any squirrel problems? there eating my bell peppers and my blue kale. Have any suggestions.
Try sauerkraut it was my first fermented project it is simply 1 head of cabbage and kosher salt.
I got my recipe from Art & Bri 💕
Great video on all the things! Zach is like my family saying goodbye after a get together. The men all know that when the goodbyes start, they will still be going on an hour later. Haha! love it!
