    The screensaver term was coined when we used the old boxy CRT monitors which used Tubes and Phosphor to function. If the screen was left on with a static wallpaper the phosphor used to stick to that particular place permanently so screensavers were used to move it around constantly.

    7:29 Actually its a good feature to have an option to limit charge to 80%, Li-ion batteries will get better life span if they are used in between 80% & 30% also i always use my laptop while plugged in, the same feature is in my laptop but in a hidden setting its turned on all the time, so even if i use it while charging it won't go above 80% and i think its good

    7:28 Devices are restricted to 80% charge to increase the battery life of the device. (It is optional, and even Apple gives that option) Lithium ion batteries don't like being fully charged or fully drained. They lose their total capacity or their health over time. If you constantly keep your device plugged in all the time, or charge it to full capacity, you will see battery health dropping below 90% of its original capacity within a year or two. You will have to replace them with fresh ones.

      It's a good feature for gaming laptops or users who always use their laptop plugged in, otherwise it's not really a good thing to have turned on by default. Because these types of laptops are supposed to last longer than gaming laptops. And we don't always have a charger or power socket near us, unlike when using gaming laptops.

  • @vjndr32
    @vjndr32 2 ปีที่แล้ว +76

    Also the power key is actually placed very well as you'll not accidentally shut down your system. Also if you use "delete" key a lot, it's a boon for it to be the last key. Text editing and deleting files becomes a breeze.

  • @vjndr32
    @vjndr32 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    Batteries when charged to 80-85% gives them longer life. If you charge your devices even twice to 80%, the battery would degrade less than if you charge it once to 100%. And laptops are generally used near to power sources so it makes more sense to charge them upto a certain degree and you can charge them whenever you want in most cases. Otherwise you have the option to take it too 100%. Although I would agree its battery life is poor. I'm happy Asus provided this option to preserve battery, some smartphones have this feature as well.

    Screen saver was first used in CRT monitors during windows Vista eras, same what happen in OLED, CRT monitors also has same negative issue BURN in 🔥. To counter this at that time was a windows button jumping around the screen or complex pipes moving around the screen like 🐍 snake game🌝. So hence this saves the screen from burn in, it is called screen saver

    The audio loudness increases drastically if you use the dts audio app, select custom, infront profile and toggle all the enhancements. And for the annoying black screen while plugging in is because the default settings of laptop is to have HDR on only while plugedin and not to use in battery power. Change that you won't see a black screen.

    So display going black and being back on when connected to charger is due to changing of screen refresh rate when charger is plugged. At plugged state, refresh rate goes to 90Hz (or whatever your laptop supports highest) and while charger is removed refresh rate drops back to 60Hz to save battery. This behavior is present in all ASUS laptops , obviously the ones supporting higher refresh rate. You can change this behavior from Armoury Crate Ap.

    A screensaver (or screen saver) is a computer program that blanks the display screen or fills it with moving images or patterns when the computer has been idle for a designated time. The original purpose of screensavers was to prevent phosphor burn-in on CRT or plasma computer monitors (hence the name).
    🤓

    About the screen blinking when connecting power. In Asus gaming laptops, that's a feature where it switches the refresh rate automatically, where it switches to 144Hz when you connect the power adapter, or 60Hz vice-versa
    Check whether the refresh rate is still 90Hz (I believe this laptop has a 90hz screen) while you are in battery power. If not, that's what's happening to the screen when you connect/disconnect the adapter.

    Secondly, I don't know who uses their laptop for 2/3 years, maybe working professionals, but as you're suggesting this laptop to students, I can assure you that they're gonna use this thing for 5/6 years minimum.
    I'm still using my 2013 bought Dell Inspiron laptop with Intel i3 2nd gen processor and 2 GB of RAM. This year I added 2 more GBs of RAM and replaced my 512 GB hdd with a 128GB SSD. Actually i have the same laptop. When you open a game...the default resolution goes to the screen resolution i.e. 2880x1800, which is a lot especially for a laptop with iris xe graphics. When you reduce the screen resolution to 1080p in windows and then open the game... it's way better. Atleast that's what I experienced in genshin impact (I'm not a gamer, i casually play some games). You will see some black bars on top and bottom but it's an OLED screen so not an issue.

In the 15 inch model the battery life does last upto 7 hrs on daily usage . Don't expect the battery to last long while gaming . I played valo on it and the battery used to drain really quick . back in the CRT era... CRTs also experienced ghost images. since computer desktops when not used,show a static image the screen saver was introduced which turns on when the screen isnt in use for some time and puts a moving image on the screen.

  • @vidyanshpratapsingh714
    @vidyanshpratapsingh714 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    screensaver (or screen saver) is a computer program that blanks the display screen or fills it with moving images or patterns when the computer has been idle for a designated time. The original purpose of screensavers was to prevent phosphor burn-in on CRT or plasma computer monitors (hence the name). Though most modern monitors are not susceptible to this issue (with the notable exception of OLED technology, which has individual pixels vulnerable to burnout), screensaver programs are still used for other purposes. Screensavers are often set up to offer a basic layer of security by requiring a password to re-access the device.[1] Some screensaver programs also use otherwise-idle computer resources to do useful work, such as processing for volunteer computing projects.[2]

    IMO the Acer Aspire 7 at around 50K is a much better laptop in terms of all but weight. Bought mine about 3 years ago now, and the CPU and GPU upgrades alone make it worth it to buy for anyone on a midrange 50Kish budget, as the difference in performance will be immediately apparent. It also has a great, bright color accurate IPS display which is more than enough in indoor conditions for such a large display, with deep blacks. This laptop seems to be in an OLED and USB-C charging niche, which are not really quite as essential as having good base specs. 60-70k for this device really does not seem to be very worth it unless you are very particular about those.

Secondly, the charging black screen is also not an issue for me. I also disagree about the speakers like someone who has used a Xiaomi laptop before, these are pretty good if you use them on a table. Although, i also have to say Asus really needs to work on quality control like my fingerprint sensor has stopped working and one of my keys has got a fault in the mechanism so it's stiffer on one side. If these issues didn't happen I would say it's a 10/10 for productivity

    It fun to watch the laptop review from which I am watching videos. It is far better than buting any high end tablet, it is a multimedia champ. Best for casual Netflix and work.

    Earlier PC & Laptop display technology were very bad, display burns faster due to this problem a programmer John Socha invented Screensaver.

    7:47 it's not weird issue it's the laptop that changed to a 60hz display when you aren't plugged in to save battery and when u plug it in it changes to a 90hz display
    How could you not notice this tech wiser :(
    And also as everyone pointed out about 80%
    2 key points portrayed in a wrong way :(

    back in the days, screens got burned and their marks stayed of the item it prompted the most, so screensaver were used it moves around the while screen which makes it tough for marks to get burned, so it literally saves the screen and hence the name screensaver
