    You make great videos. Thede are plenty of us men that enjoy using these machines. It is relaxing to be able to produce useful items. These videos are also a huge help because information isn't always available. ⁰

    You just got to love theese plastic bed machines - so cute and modest. Quickly set up for something small you want to knit like a shopping bag, some i-cord or a tie... then swiftly put back away again 😻 😻 😻

      Ben Traeger That is so true! I love the quick set up and put away, some knitters don’t have lots of room to leave their machines set up all the time and setting up metal bed machines and ribbers etc can be quite a chore.

    I just inherited this machine, it was bought by the residents association to share among the women to knit uniforms and clothes, while times were hard. I'm chuffed to pieces to get started 😍😍

    Thank you for video -- very deft one-handed production! I am practicing and producing on my LK-150, but am hoping to acquire an LK-100 shortly so I can work up the tonnes of worsted and bulky yarn I've acquired. This video was most helpful.

    Thank you - that video was very useful :-) To the lady who asked about the sponge - you either have to take all the needles out - lay the new sponge in then re-instate the needles or - if you're lucky, you can butt the old sponge end with the new sponge end and stitch is together - maybe even one round of strong tape over the join. Then, very gently, pull the old sponge out, while guiding the new one in at the other end. If you are lucky - you will do it all in one go. If not - it may break in the middle which means taking out just half of the needles to finish the job using the first method. It's worth a try.

    Brilliant review, thank you.
    I'm thinking of adding a zippy 90 to my collection....something light that can be set up quickly for knitting up a speedy school sweater. I've got a knit master 155 but it's so heavy and I don't have room to keep it permanently set up....big sigh.

      sarah larkin They are lovely little machines, very easy and quick to set up and put away and such a joy to knit on. I had a Knitmaster 155, O got rid of it, I thought it was a horrid machine, it was so heavy and bulky, it wasn’t much fun to use for me.

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sa NE The gauge is different and it has no mast when compared to the LK150 buy the basic design of the machine it the same. Lovely little machines.

    I have a Lk100 Silver Reed knitting machine. It was donated to me. I can't get it to work. When I move the carriage to the right or to the left it get stuck. In your video you mentioned that it might need the sponge bar might need to be replaced. How do you do that?

    Anyone know how to change the strip of foam under the zippy90? Many thanks

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You first have to remove all the needles from the machine by pushing them all out to holding or D position. Close the latches on all the hooks, then pull up and back on every one of the needles one at a time and they will pop right out of the machine. Remove the old sponge and discard, lay a new sponge in the channel underneath the machine where the sponge sits and insert the needle back in. It will be tricky and you will have to press down on the sponge with your finger so the needles will slip back in place. When you look at the machine from underneath the needles should be sitting on top of the sponge, so the sponge should be sandwiched between the underside of the bed and the needles.
      Make sure when you’re putting the needles back in that you note the colours. If it’s a Zippy90/LK100 the needle buts are in two colours and are in blocks of 5 in each of the colours alternately.
      If it is an LK100, the two different coloured needle buts are in blocks of 10 alternately.

    Where can i buy this machine ?Do you have any link do the shop?

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Edyta Zurawska eBay is probably your best bet. These machines are no longer in production. A similar machine called the LK150 is still in production but it has a smaller gauge of 6.5mm instead of the 9mm of the Zippy90/LK100... So it takes yarns up to Aran, it will not knit chunky yarn, unless knitted on every other needle.

    I just purchased the Lk100 knitting machine. What thickness of weather stripping would you recommend. 1/4 inch or 1 inch thickness?

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jackie H I would suggest more like half an inch, an inch is too thick, if all you can find is 1/4 inch it will work fine, just the needles will be less firm and could cause you some hiccups in certain techniques on the machine.

    • @jackieh.8453
      @jackieh.8453 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thesweaterfactory Thank you for yoir quick reply. I also have a lk140 and a brother convertible. Do you think the same stripping would fit these machines also?

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jackie H The LK 140 will be the same as the LK 100 and LK150, as far as the sponge in concerned, I am not familiar with the Brother machine though, so I wouldn't like to say...Hope that helps and it is no problem at all. 😊

    Where do you buy the above machine and how much does it cost?

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lou Hollingsworth eBay is the best place to look as this machine is no longer in production. The cost can vary but they don’t usually cost a fortune.
