    This guy is a class act. I really enjoyed watching him play, and although he lost in the final, he gave it his all, and he played with flair (they both did) and provided an entertaining match.

      Well said! He is a great player with an arsenal of great shots. He’s had an amazing season and it’s surely only a matter of time before he wins a slam. So proud of the way he carried himself throughout the tournament; no histrionics, no ball or racquet smashing but just keeping in the moment and playing each point. You are spot on when you say he’s a class act.

      Agree, he is so dignified in the way he moves and in the way he speak; very humble, intelligent, respectful, and gracious in defeat. He idolizes Nadal but I can also see some Federer demeanour in him, and Alcaraz is more like Nadal than Federer which he idolises too. I thought I’m gonna stop watching Tennis when the Big 3 are retired but now these new guys Sinner included are giving me new interest in Tennis! Congrats to you all!

    Although I was rooting for Alcaraz to win this US Open, I have to say that I am now a new fan of Ruud. He is so diplomatic about his answers. He reflects on himself and gives praise where merit is due. I look forward to seeing him play many more grand slam finals.

    Ruud is the player we need alongside Alcaraz in this new era. Someone that's solid, patient, and talented, all while keeping his ego in check and handling situations with etiquette and poise. Tough loss, but I love his mindset.
    I was gunning hard for Nick to go all the way this time, given how his season had been going, but he really disappointed me with his loss - not with how he played, but with the "parting shot" that he left the stadium with: a couple of broken racquets and no handwaving goodbye to a packed stadium that rooted for him and only him during his matches.
    You could say he's only human, but then again, so are these guys. We need role models who are not only talented on court, but also off.

    • @markparry4534
      @markparry4534 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I can’t see Nick changing. His training more and when he’s winning with lout adversity it looks like he’s changed his attitude. But there’s is always an invariable that occurs which he is willing to shift the blame on for his own performance - the crowd, the umpire, his box. It’s easy to win with grace but how you handle adversity is the true test of character

    • @xdbruhxd1179
      @xdbruhxd1179 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As an Australian I really want nick to win a grand slam or more. His behaviour has always been bad, but I think his bad behaviour now is more reflective of his high expectations of himself

    • @IHO2691

      Well said, couldn't agree with you more. I was never a fan of Nick but recently I really started liking him and was actually wanting to see him win this tournament but what he did after his loss made me reconsider my new found opinion of him. It is such a shame because the guy is so talented.

      No, he was way too passive. Carlos started making an unbelievable amount of mistakes.
      I always thought you can't win a tennis match if you rely on your opponent making mistakes and this was no exception. A player as explosive as Carlos has to feel hopeless and trapped. You have to frustrate him. Give him enough time and chances and he will pull himself back up and start winning again

      Если бы он играл и думал как Фед, то было бы 5 сетов. Он очень далек от игры и мышления Федерера. У Алькатраса неплохая скорость, с которой Руд не справился. К тому же игра у сетки не очень. Алькатрас постоянно доставал и догонял его волей. И посмотрите как играл Федерер у сетки, почти всегда без шансов для соперника.

I hope he doesn't get forgotten about amongst the Alcaraz hype; it seems like Sinner is geared up to be his 'main rival' but by fighting his fire with fire; if Ruud can figure out how to douse the fire a little bit we may see a surprising number of wins for this guy on the board as well.

    Somebody has to win in a tennis match so kudos to Carlos for getting the trophy and well deserved #1 ranking but merit to this guy and in general also to other young guys such as Tiafoe and Sinner for the spirit and the behavior. Glad we have another great era ahead of us!!!

    Casper is a class act and a deserved World No.2 after what he has achieved this year, reaching two GS finals and other 1000 masters. I’ve been watching tennis for over fifty years and I’ve never seen a player like Carlitos especially from one so young. He plays tennis at a different level and has no fear and I’m for one am looking at how his career develops under the tutelage of Juan Carlos. Just a footnote it’s surprising how Casper sounds like one of my tennis idols from yesteryear Bjorn Borg 😂. Moving forward tennis is now in safe hands from the “Big Three”. Carlitos has now “set the bar” in terms of movement, desire and will to win and it’s now up to the others to match him. Watch out for Jannik Sinner he’s definitely one to look out for. 😇🙏🏿

    Norway must be very proud of Casper---considering the population and opportunities for tennis.
    Interesting comment on Rafa's doctor. I once read that someone suspected that Rafa used dialysis to refresh his blood as a recovery method. Is that what Casper meant?
    In any case, Casper is the quintessential Norwegian. It was all (genuinely) about Carlos's ability--not his.
    Fine job, Casper . . . may you be a tennis great for many years.

    I can see Rudd playing a role similar to Hewitt played during the Fed era. Though the prospects for Alcaraz seem frightening, he will have no Big 3 to challenge him and has the resilience and strength of Novak and Rafa

      I think he needs to work on his return and backhand - and do less blocking. But what a run Casper has had. He sinner and carlitos give hope for decent sportsmanship and brilliant tennis for years to come.

    What a sweet, kind and incredibly lovable human being. If Alcaraz is the heir apparent of Federer in terms of the amazingly magical and graceful athletic feats on the field, Ruud is the heir apparent of Fed in terms of his super classy, humble and generous personality. And amazingly, he is only 2nd to Carlos in tennis rankings. Because he is so smooth and graceful on the court, he almost sneaks up on you, and you don't immediately realize what an immense talent he is. Their warm embrace after the match was so heartwarming, and so rare these days, when devouring and destroying your competitor has become the name of the game.
