    Getting in to 40k was no accident! Really it all began at school when a friend of mine brought in his 40k Rule Book and I was inspired by what I saw! I've been into the wargames hobby in general now for years and really enjoy it! I guess the good thing about wargames is the fact you can fight it out with your opponent on the wargames table without the worry of personal injury to yourself - well most of the time anyway! (I'm not exactly a body builder size wise)!
    Enjoy the content and hope this channel is an inspiration to all you painters and players out there on the web!

    I’m going to use raffia instead of the masking tape, to give it a more realistic and random wrapped look, but really like the strands of copper wire idea! I really like your methods.

    You could improve the trunk by doing overlapping circles of masking tape running the whole length

    3 of these on a MDF base would be nice also on a tabletop. Good vid well done with all steps covered well. I've watched 5 or 6 videos of people making these and I'm picking up what I like from each of them I will probably make hybrids from all the different tutorials.Maybe make a few coconuts that have fallen off for the base also.

      I think they did actually! I'm awaiting basing materials in the mail, but the tree itself came out fine, if I say so myself: eyeofterror.eu/2017/01/getting-ready-for-some-dry-battles

      I read your article. Well done! You have got the process exactly right. Maybe look in to a better stronger pigment green paint to give you more of a solid colour:)

    Nice little tutorial Luke. Many moons ago I used to work with Blake Spence (now FW designer) we used to make loads of scenery for the old games day.
    This is very similar to the way we used to make our palm trees. Although we used to let some of the wire show at the bottom but paint it same colour as the main bark to look like the roots where out growing. We also used to finely flick sand on the main bark to give it a fine bit of texture.
    But yours is great bud. Real good vid.

    love the finished effect, esspecially the measurements as ive been looking for some good palms for 40k myself. I shall be using this method so thankyou for the tutorial. I haven't done any videos myself but one bit of constructive critisism as a viewer; You repeat your self alot, for example you told us that wood glue is not correct and to brittle about 5/6 times ;) you could possibly shorten the vid and make it a little smoother to watch by reducing the repetition. But great vid and thankyou for your time dude, and i look forward to having some of your trees on my table :D

    Can you recommend a product or technique for filling the little air holes in finecast models?

    • @StrikingScorpion82
      @StrikingScorpion82  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ok thanks. Yeah I would probably use green stuff. Or even super glue could be an option if you are careful...like use the end of a pin to dab it on:)

      He actually just mentioned that at 1:13:10 -- 20 to 25 is a decent number for a 6x4' table. But I guess when you use rock formations, or if you make clusters of 2-3 on a single base, you'd "get away with" as little as 6 I suppose?

    • @StrikingScorpion82
      @StrikingScorpion82  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah about 20-25 would fill a table well:)
