Ryan, I’m 27 and was recently diagnosed with nearly bone on bone arthritis in my knees. After training legs they swell up and cause me a ton of pain for sometimes a week or more. I’m determined to grow my quads and not let this hold me back from my goals. Any tips on how I can grow my legs without completely destroying my knees?
Issues myself. I’ve been offered fillers in my knees. I use two types of knee sleeves together...light and neoprene. Light covered by neo. Always ice after exercise. It might be that the swelling is coming from arthritis or other. See a cardiologist. It’s abt ruling out. Know your body and what u can and can’t do. Good luck.
The past year not withstanding, I’ve been working out all my adult life. I love your videos brother. I feel re-energized watching your content brother.
the only way to make your waist smaller is to lose weight. or you could bulk your upperbody to make your waist look small in comparison. depending on your genetics you may have to do both.
As a SiFu of many years, [which encompasses Chinese exercise].. you are one of the few instructors I endorse to my students. That being said, I suggest an alternative set here.. by only changing your 'curved' lower back to be 'UN-curved', or Flat.. with the groin pushed forward while performing. THAT should give a wake-up call. Thanks
I'm used to laughing with Ryan Humiston... while thinking yeah I can do a 10th of that.... but the image of Ryan saying good luck, I can hold this flex all day had me seriously tapping out :D
I have lost a lot of muscle mass and am just getting back into the gym after heart surgery. My glutes are very weak and when I say weak I mean weak. I put together a plan but not sure if it a good schedule. This is what I have planned. Any suggestions are appreaciated. I have always had to focus on one main muscle group at a time because I tend to hit the wall very quickly if I am working like all upper body at one time as an example. I also am not a young buck anymore. I am 57. I gained a crap load of weight from not moving my butt for a couple of years but have recently dropped 50 pounds by walking. I am now 215 pounds at 5'10''. Needs to drop another 20 pounds but I am working on that. More worried at the amount of muscle I have lost. Anyway my plan of attack is this. Thursday - Glutes, Back, Lats, and Abs Friday - Biceps and Triceps Saturday - Legs, Glutes, and Chest Sunday - Rest Monday - Biceps, Triceps, Back-Shoulder, and Abs Tuesday - Legs, Glutes, Chest, and Core Wednesday - Rest Again any suggestions are helpful and very much appreciated. Thank you
I'm 50 and trt saved my life as i was dieing but as I'm recovering i switched from heavy weight to high volume but the first leg workout made me barely able to walk for a week and peed on myself trying to hobble to the can, is this normal? Love your channel!!!
Hey Ryan can you do a video about shoulder mobility for low bar squats? I had a slap tear and it’s been over a year since doing back squats. My physical therapist has helped but it’s still not where it needs to be. Your shoulders and hand placement looked really good and even before my injury I wasn’t able to get it set in like you demonstrated.
There lots of videos on that. Try the basic major movement barbell exercises: Standing military press Bench press Barbell squats Deadlift Rows These you should do for the rest of your life. I’m 55 and this has slowed down the aging process for me. Best wishes.
Ok I just did the band around the legs “Humping-The-Air” move - sooooo dang awkward the first time, a guy down a few machines kept staring ……….so glad I came to do this at 3am Sunday morning.!!!
I have been doing squats on the machine, rdl, leg presses, hip thrusts. I have a bad back so have to be careful but my gluteus minimus is starting to get jacked but how do I focus on the maxius muscles
Glutes are important, hes know his stuff, but if your going in the first time to strengthen use machines, they have 4 or 5 glute machines in every gym then advamce to the aforementioned.I recognize possible knee and back issues with this video for the newcomer
Strengthening glutes cured my lower lack problems
Me too bro. Reverse hyperextensions, good mornings and glute bridges helped me deadlift over 500 lbs beltless. The Glutes are a crucial muscle
Maybe this is the answer to my lower back pain... I neglect glutes and abs
Spinal erectors, hamstrings, glutes, and core are vital to the pelvic angle and spinal stability.

Me too!
I need this, not only because my glutes are mad underdeveloped, but because it’s always been my dream to travel the world and crack walnuts on stage
Finally, normal people, with normal, achievable dreams :)
i adore your aspirations, distinguished gentleman
@jaredrivera5019 Lmao, I can't argue with that 🤣🤣
This is the humor I never knew I needed in fitness
I've never feared gang rape, but thanks for the motivation coach

And now you never will!
Unfortunate that gang rape is thrown around so lightly. Appreciate the fitness advice, could have done without the gay panic trope.
