    The "pilot carrying his keys" joke was legit hilarious

    • @MMCLLC7
      @MMCLLC7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Cameron Cash Hopkins the joke hinges on common knowledge that when you're tryna park your car, you might look for somebody carrying their keys which means they're about to pull out of their spot and you can take it.
      The joke is creating a parallel between car drivers like us and pilots. The predicament of not being able to park is very much common in cars and not so much in planes. So it's funny to imagine that the pilot, when put in that situation, would act like we do when we're driving cars and thus doing something like following a pilot with the keys to their plane.
      Also what adds to the overall comedy is the fact pilots of commercial planes don't actually have keys to the planes. They turn them on in a much more complicated way.

    That’s a beautiful moment in time at the end when David puts the microphone back on the stand and raises his hands to his mouth. He steps back and takes it all in. He knows he just did the tonight show. Carson was at the age that he knew what his show meant to young comics careers. The satisfaction and pure joy on his face after watching David reach his dream was something truly special. These incredibly special moments in time.

He opens it up shirtless with the Pepto and there is Johnny with Doc and Martin Short to tell him he did a great job. David referring to the Pepto told them he was nervous and Johnny said, "I'm trying to quit that" before throwing some accolades his way. @TheKitchenerLeslie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No, he wasn't mocking him, he was actually trying to help him because once a comedian was on The Tonight Show then, your life changed forever. If Johnny called you over... you were about to become a legend. Martin actually suggested he call David over.

    • @peezdoc
      @peezdoc 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@TheKitchenerLeslie yeah... They were actually trying to get his attention to wave him over to the couch but was too nervous to look at Carson. Because if you didn't get the wave to come over it meant you didn't do well and Johnny didn't think you were funny.

      Spade talked about this on Howard Stern's show in 2019. He said Carson was back to the right and you had to really turn around to see him and he was too afraid to look that far back, so he just looked to his right, then walked off. He said the stage manager who sent him out told him he had no shot of being called over to the desk, so to just walk off when he's done.
