And why did the aliens have to take ten years to refine the gas from something that outright killed you to something that indirectly killed you? Surely the alien's refined gas would just be deadly without needing to jump through fear hoops. Humans have chemicals that can pull that off, so I think a space faring race definitely could as well. That was brilliant! Years ago, I wrote a book in which zombies could tell the living from the dead by the smell of fear. You needed to teach yourself not to fear them in order to survive.
Agreed. Neither is After Earth. That was Will Smith's idea. Will asked Shyamalan to do it. I consider Devil more of a Shyamalan movie than the other two.
I love Signs and I understand why people don’t like it but it still had a pretty cool concept to grasp. The first time I saw The Happening I was a kid but when I watched it it did induce fear which is the idea that you mentioned in this vid. I watched a second time and although the acting was weird and almost dry the fear concept of the movie still delivered. 👍🏽 I subbed btw. 👊🏽
Fear itself is one of the human body's hormones, a necessary one where the body reacts to preserve itself. That being said, depending on the air that is being breathed in The Happening and the area of effect of the bio-chemical (two distinct cities), its simple to believe that the bio-chemical only activates when someone is scared in such a way their body develops a defensive hormone, the natural instinct to protect oneself. The bio-chemical reacts to a specific amount of fear hormones in the human body, for example when one feels threatened enough to scream. It is not unbelievable to think that the vapor cloud activated all at the same time, as each person would become scared as each person infected began to die. This would explain more why the main characters ended in a place that was surrounded by plants, with the intention being to make the audience feel fear for the characters. But wont the vapor cloud spread? Of course it will. But it won't spread enough to kill the entire population of a certain area over the course of a few days, and it isn't the intention of the aliens to kill them all, its their intention to make us kill ourselves faster. If there are no humans on earth left alive, then there is no one to fight a war with. Especially if you don't reveal your existence to the world. While Signs seemed to have done exactly that, look at all the evidence left behind: crop circles, strange lights in the sky, and one shred of visual evidence that was so low quality it really could be explained away as a man in a suit. Besides, these were drones, sent to do a job, not full fledged alien invaders. Disposable drones which would go to the nearest water source and dissolve themselves once their job was done. It makes more sense than you think. A few isolated incidents would make people more paranoid for a full invasion, including the governments who know the truth. But even those who don't accept that aliens were the cause, then which country was having airplanes or helicopters hovering over specific cities before disappearing? The audience knows its aliens, but the people in the movie don't until the very end of the film. I know i have a lot in this one comment. I apologize.
Interesting takes. But you’re reaching. The Happening was horrible. If anything M. Night was intentionally trolling us with a b-movie spoof kinda thing.
@@SadEyes1412 The events in the Happening took place over a localized area. This video doesn't make sense because humans all over would be experiencing this. We all feel fear.
I hope when the uncreative lords of Hollywood get around to remaking these three movies, they find this video and make it a real trilogy. Or maybe Shyamalan should release a fourth movie which spans the times of all three movies and introduces some alien memory suppression or skepticism inducing drug to fill the remaining plot holes. Then maybe a fifth movie set after After Earth, when the aliens' masters finally arrive to claim the planet.
I loved that you did an analysis on I would say my favorite filmmaker of all time..But I think you are wrong. Signs is not connected to The Happening. First off you missed the whole entire point of Signs. It wasn't about the aliens at all. It was about the family. So in a way the aliens were sent here to help bring this family back together. That's another thing about M Nights film's that you missed. Almost all his film's are about togetherness and love. We need to be together to survive or be complete. It also works as a metaphor for us in today's times. But I do think there might be a connection with the Happening and After Earth cause the themes are almost Identical. And to spread some more light on The Happening.. yes, the danger never came from just trees/plants. It's a chemical that's airborne that's part of mother nature. The clouds were moving to show the airborne chemical is moving since we can't see air lol. Also, in The Happening or even After Earth.. it was about our planet.. a message about being green. We never took care of it so mother nature felt threatened and turned it's back on us. But again, his films .. the core elements of his films.. are about togetherness and love. So that's why the main characters were saved at the end of The Happening. It's a straight up B movie man. Something out of the twilight zone or something. But I'm pretty sure this film has nothing to do with Signs.
Man, your content is great! Hope you can keep the content coming. It's some of (if not the best) movie analysis out there. It's rare to find an actually good channel. Thanks fort that! 👍

In the movie “Signs” it states why they didn’t bring their advance weapons and armor is because they were on a recon mission and has no intentions engaging with humans. It’s why they were hiding and avoiding contact. The theory was their planet was on a brink of destruction so they need to find a Habitable planet.

I feel like it coincides with the religious element of the movie, about man whom lost his faith. Had to figuratively and literally fight demons to regain his faith. Maybe when humans were incapable of approaching a problem with logic and reason it was a more useful response. Now it's far more likely to get you killed then save your life. Rationally thinking through a problem until solved will almost always provide better results then a panicked frantic response. It's what separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.
@@riftvallance2087 Without any feeling showing us that the problem exists, how can we even deal with it? It's like not being able to feel pain, you can still look for injuries, yes, but it's not really possible to do that 24h a day, neither possible to identify all types of wounds with eyes alone

Never realized how dumb the voice of Smith son sound
Valentin Passera that’s only in the movie 🤦♂️🤦♂️
After Earth was actually supposed to be about a father and son going camping, but shit got weird. Also Jayden's character was supposed to have a speech impediment, but he just wasn't able to get it down so I guess they were just like fuck it let's go with it.
This is an amazing connection you've discovered. The explanation you've given made me want to re watch those movies.

U make shymalan look like a genius with this
So to say I'm a fan is an understatement your deep and on point observations of movies is quite jaw dropping. A massive thank you for enlightening me on so many nuances of all the films you watched.
Shayamalan is a genius with his own amazing genre. He will be studied by future generations way after we have been long gone. He is my favorite writer/director.
No, he won't, retard. 💀
Your signs and the happening theory make so much sense. Loved this.
Idk why this popped up in my recommended section, but I’m glad it was there, keep up the work 96k views 🙌🏼
Shyamalan's all like, "Um... ok... yeah... you figured it out!"
I read this comment as a Family Guy cutaway scene.
Turns out Shyamalan is an advanced alien who brought storytelling styles from his planet not knowing that most humans are too dumb to comprehend them.
Shyamalan watches closely, eyes widen.
"no... no, you got it all wrong! it WAS the trees, that's the twist!"
Why is Will Smith narrating this? There’s the conspiracy.

Love the explanation but I have one question. Mark's character was obviously scared several times throughout the movie, why didnt he get affected?
He was outside of where the "gas" was. It gets very close to him several times until the very end when it catches up. Since it's invisible we are always guessing as the viewers. Creates great tension.
This was so good!!!! I’ve watched all these movies so many times and never put it together like this, it’s like getting all new movies lol the scorched earth part made my jaw drop!

Outstanding analysis. Now I want to rewatch all three in that order with this theory in mind.
Now that's one hell of a twist. You managed to make me rethink and start to like these movies!
Wow, its amazing how well this fits together when you think about it. And we do know the M Night likes to make trilogies.
I swear if this is true then these movies can actually be likeable.
Not after earth. Never that.

AntiLogic, you clever SOB. You've done it again. Now I have to rewatch Happening and After Earth, both of which I dismissed.
I stopped watching M Knight years ago and never even seen After Earth. Now it's on my to do list. This channel is great.
Watch The Happening as a comedy and it’s good
@@MrSqurk nothing else explains mark Wahlbergs performance...like seriously what was that
M. Night Shyamalan is a still a great filmmaker in my book. The master of twist!

That makes a hell of a lot more sense than those three movies individually ever did!
My mind has been officially blown. 🤯🤯🤯
I thought something similar to this a long time ago, and I thought I was fucking crazy for it. Glad to see im not alone.
This is a good movie. I enjoyed it. It's not as bad as people make it out to be
@Mark Five I agree. Even if the above video is true, the execution was terrible.
Movie is horrible
That was brilliant! Years ago, I wrote a book in which zombies could tell the living from the dead by the smell of fear. You needed to teach yourself not to fear them in order to survive.
That is a surprisingly good connection you made. awesome, man. i can't believe i'm actually considering rewatching the Happening. ugh.
Finally this movie I thought was lame because of the ending glad I can get another perspective on it
Airbender isn't an original idea of his. shouldn't count as part of his corky writing/universal.
Agreed. Neither is After Earth. That was Will Smith's idea. Will asked Shyamalan to do it. I consider Devil more of a Shyamalan movie than the other two.
Bro with the fire nation being Indian I feel like he did write that movie. Ducking garbage
Damn this video was well done and interesting. You’re about to save Shyamalan’s career lol
Imagine having such eccentric movies, people search for a connection whether there is one or not.
I subbed btw. 👊🏽
There were many times the main characters were afraid in that movie dude.
Dude you must be amazing at parties it's just a theory bro not fact
@@isiahalcindor6278 Just pointing it out. No need to get offended or hurtful
@@isiahalcindor6278 you must be great at parties keeping everyone silent.
cage yup
Imagine, if this was indeed what Shyamalan had in mind...damn, you sneaky.
Interesting takes. But you’re reaching. The Happening was horrible. If anything M. Night was intentionally trolling us with a b-movie spoof kinda thing.
Jamal X - I enjoy The Happening more than the majority of his movies
MrSqurk it can be good if you view it as a comedy/spoof. I can see how a person could like it.
Naw dawg. The movie was never about plants killing people. Every clown fell for it thinking it was.
@@Orion126126 Maybe because characters in the movie keep speculating the plants did it but there was no proof.
This. The Happening is basically a horror "The Room"
Well Done! Well Done! Finally someone else who overstands Shyamalan's genius

i came here to see how his name is pronounced
The happening was about plants evolving to be able to defend their selves, or atleast that's what I got out of it lol

@@SadEyes1412 The events in the Happening took place over a localized area. This video doesn't make sense because humans all over would be experiencing this. We all feel fear.

Makes sense. I liked the Happening, and Signs. Thanks for tying them all together
You convinced me; I am going to binge watch all three movies starting tomorrow.
Makes sense if it is all connected but stand alone it's just crazy
I purposely just watched the movie so that I could follow up with your synapsis. Brilliant analysis.
Man, your content is great! Hope you can keep the content coming. It's some of (if not the best) movie analysis out there. It's rare to find an actually good channel. Thanks fort that! 👍
I've always loved this movie
One of the things I like a lot about this movie is that if this actually happened so what the Hell you supposed to do
When you explain Signs, the Happenings and After Earth as a trilogy, they do make sense. Funny.
It does make sense even with the titles, signs are things you notice before, happening is the present, and then after...
How is all this connected bc I saw signs and I still don't get it @@amandaattaway7992

This movie was more confusing than Mark Wahlberg’s acting
Wahlberg was hilarious in this movie.
he acted like a lost puppy, it was almost surreal. "oh no~ the plants are killing people, aieeee~"

You forgot the unneeded question.
“This movie was more confusing than mark wahlbergs acting?”
WhiteDude Music WHAT? NO!
In the movie “Signs” it states why they didn’t bring their advance weapons and armor is because they were on a recon mission and has no intentions engaging with humans. It’s why they were hiding and avoiding contact. The theory was their planet was on a brink of destruction so they need to find a Habitable planet.
I love your theories and you did a good job on this one. However, I don't think you're right. You have to make a lot of leaps to make it fit and I think if Shamalan had intended this he couldn't have helped but show it.
They just put in those leaps to make you think it isn't a trilogy.
Great video, I've watched both films numerous times and missed that connection. Thanks. 👍
Glad to know I'm not the only one who knew it came from the sky in The Happening. Good job. Dam good job!
The “aliens” are demons in “Signs”, the daughter has been referenced as an angel. And the water she always has around was blessed by her. I feel like it coincides with the religious element of the movie, about man whom lost his faith. Had to figuratively and literally fight demons to regain his faith. I don’t know, I know there’s more to it than that, and I could be completely wrong. But, that’s just my take on “Signs”.
I really don't like your smiling animation. That shit looks so unnerving
Over the span of 10 years the pollen evolved into monsters starting the beginning of Netflix bird box
Shyamalan's greatest twist was that people actually went to see it. Mind blowing to say the least.
