Well hot diggity!!! This was so awesome! I made a mug for my hubby for Christmas but didn't know what to use to seal it!!! Now I can wash that darn thing!! Gonna head over to Michael's and get me some dishwasher Mod Podge and seal that sucker!! Thank you so very much for sharing this with us all!! ❣️❣️❣️
You just nail this video Rachel awesome!!!! Just about to do a mug for my son and now I can do it and seal it he will have it for a long time thank thank you!!!! Love your video's Rachel God Bless hugs Liz...
Is there any concern about it being microwaved? You did gold - that won't spark? But also if the modge podge is not food safe, does it matter for leaching in microwave?
I find that the Mod Podge leaves so many streaks though and it really takes away from how awesome the vinyl looks. Any suggestions to make the Mod Podge blend in better? I ended up painting each letter very slowly and carefully. I would love to see a close-up of the mug you used in the tutorial.
A really nice soft brush is key for a great look with that thick mod podge. Also if you hand wash your mug and dry it immediately, you can get away with not sealing it. Happy crafting!
Thanks for a very helpful tutorial! One question. Do you need to wait the 28 days to drink out of the mug, or is it 28 days before you can put it in the dishwasher? Thanks!!
I am a bit confused with the process, the instructions on the mod podge states to, "apply to surface as well as back of decoupage element" but on the video it was only applied as a top layer. Will it still be as effective? Also, can we use it and handwash it before the 28 days then after 28 days wash it on the dishwasher? Or does it have to be 28 days without any use?
How do I talk to someone that knows what my problem is. I put in the green graph sticky thing then I place my paper facedown bc it's iron on but the thing either starts cutting above the board OR goes down and tries to cut it below the paper. I put the measurements as 11x11 bc it is 12 across and only 5.5 down but it doesn't give me the option..how do I set the machine measurements up bc its too short or not wide enough and if I put what the mug box says, everything gets on top of each other.. what the heck am I doing wrong

Thank you so much for your great tips, quick question can I use the Mod podge on tumblers that I make? Or theres no way because its not glossy? Btw thanks for a another awesome video.
We do not recommend making a design much larger than 3" wide on a standard mug. The quote gets distorted and will start wrapping up or down on the mug, and that does not look professional.
Not a decal like this, no. You always have to create that seal around the decal to protect the adhesive. The vinyl itself IS waterproof, it's just the adhesive that's not.
wouldn't a spray sealant work ? I can't think of what it is called but I want to think it was made by Krylon, I can remember my mom using it to seal her ceramics she painted. it does stink and needs to be done outside or in a ventilated garage or room. and only had to wait like 24 hours. I'm asking because I'm planning on starting a side business and selling products I make, and no one is going to want to wait a month to be able to use a coffee mug

Rachel you do excellent in tutorials. I wish I could rock a baseball hat with my hair down. I have to put it in a ponytail and probably look like a boy. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. MGL.
This specific Mod Podge, since we're trying to create so much of a seal that it can take the water and heat of a dishwasher, the formula has to be strong and the dry time is lengthy. It was made that way. 28 Days after you apply the Mod Podge, it's sealed and cured to the point that it's dishwasher safe. amzn.to/354190H
it will be available if you have chosen 1 welded image or if your cut file is 1 single layer. If it is not, you may have to ungroup or detach the layers in order to be able to contour one layer at a time :)

Hi there, would you seal a black coffee mug with the mod podge as well?
Thanks for a very helpful tutorial! One question. Do you need to wait the 28 days to drink out of the mug, or is it 28 days before you can put it in the dishwasher? Thanks!!
We don't recommend using it at all until it's fully cured :) Wouldn't want to mess up that process!
@@MakersGonnaLearn got it!! thanks!

Hi once the mod podge is on cup are we not able to drink out of the mug for 28days?
Is it ok to microwave the cups?
Thank you so much! 🧡

28 days without use
We recommend not using it for the full 28 days. After the cure time, the mug will be dishwasher and food safe, per the FDA :)
Yep - thanks :)
Excellent project and tutorial. Thank you Rachel. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
Thank you so much Susan!
Awesome tutorial. Really appreciate seeing how you deal with those little mistakes that I always seem to make lol
Thank you so much for watching Carol 😊

Thanks for commenting!
Do i need to use masking paper transfer tape, or could I use cricut transfer tape
You can use either :)

Do you have to put Modge after?
i love your videos I became a yearly member since you guys explain everything so well.
That's so sweet of you to say! We're so glad you're enjoying it!
Could I do this on clear mugs or would you be able to see the mod podge streaks?
Can I put it in the oven to make it the mod podge fry faster

You're welcome to use it on a tumbler, but you will be able to see the brush strokes of the mod podge!
Will the transfer sheets not work on tumblers and mugs? Im new and confused.
Here's a video that should help: th-cam.com/video/f9-05OErUb8/w-d-xo.html . We're not quite sure what you mean
I have a new cricut, what setting for cricut permanent vinyl? Just standard?
Yes, just the regular "vinyl" setting :)
Is that mod podge necessary? We don’t have a dishwasher
It's necessary because anytime you get the mug wet or warm the adhesive vinyl will want to peel up.
you should show the mug after the mod podge has dried.
it looks great :) No issues at all!
28 days or hours?
Thanks for this video, with the mod podge is there one that doesn't take as long to settle, if i'm correct did she say 28 days?
Nope, if you want something to last forever the cure time is a doozy, lol
@@MakersGonnaLearn okay thank is there any other options outside of the mid podge if I'm making cups on demand?
@@ProvoVille you can try a mug press. it basically bakes the vinyl into the mug.
Okay thank you 😁
I do wish you had addressed how to make wider designs straight on a mug... my design curves up & I am looking for tips.
We do not recommend making a design much larger than 3" wide on a standard mug. The quote gets distorted and will start wrapping up or down on the mug, and that does not look professional.
Is there a way to waterproof a sticker BEFORE applying it to a mug or bottle?
Not a decal like this, no. You always have to create that seal around the decal to protect the adhesive. The vinyl itself IS waterproof, it's just the adhesive that's not.
Can i use ikea mug ?
thank you very helpful can the cup go in the microwave
Sure, once it's fully cured :)
Thank for this! How will you seal a glass mug?
You can seal it anyway you'd like :) We suggest dishwasher safe Mod Podge

Supper helpful thank you! Would you do this to a Starbucks tumbler as well? Do we seal every cup?
You do not have to seal ANY cup, only if you want to or if you plan on throwing it in the dishwasher
Thank you for this video.
Can regular Mid Podge be used as a sealer?
Sure, but not on anything you want to put in the dishwasher :)
Thank you for this tutorial. Would hand washing the mug while it’s curing mess up the seal?

nope. You can use a different sealer though. th-cam.com/video/rRiSVUhEUa8/w-d-xo.html
Is there a quicker sealant available?
Any and all clear sealers take 28 days to properly cure to the point that it is food safe/dishwasher safe per the FDA.

How do I get contour to come on.
it will be available if you have chosen 1 welded image or if your cut file is 1 single layer. If it is not, you may have to ungroup or detach the layers in order to be able to contour one layer at a time :)
Thanks will try.
My Contour button is dim and I can't click on it.
Hi William,
Make sure to click the image or text you want to contour.
Weird . I can use contour on my IOS devices but not on my computer and I’m doing the same text and follow thru
This wouldn’t work for commercial or almost commercial applications.
Love your videos but really wish you would talk and move a bit slower, especially for the beginners :-)
Feel free to rewatch or rewind :)
I usually watch & pause, unpause, pause etc... so you can go as slow as you need while you are making your project. Hope this helps.
You can control the playback speed as well.
Rach talks so fast i can't follow. Lost on how to contour. Or what the transfer material is.
Feel free to rewind and watch it as many times as you need to understand it :)
Set it to .75 playback speed
You going to fast
Sorry about that.
