- Well if you ever wanted to see a true all-rounder, the Seqtrak from Yamaha ticks every box: Sequencing, Sampling, FM and PCM synthesis, effects, dynamic control - and it can do it all independently of a computer.
The role of the computer is basically organisational. There are a few bonus effects and features, but really the Seqtrak carries all the goods anywhere you want to go.
First video that’s making me take a serious look at this
Ah that’s nice to hear :) Yeah I think there are a lot of videos that talk about its operations, but I really wanted to just dive deep into the sounds
Because they’re so fun.
It's official, you are now a synthfluencer. I saw this pop up and knew I could trust your thoughts.
That comment means a lot to me! Thank you
These look like a perfect little portable fun box. Nice to see Yamaha experimenting a bit.
It really is! Korg and the movie companies have been doing all the innovating for as long as I can remember.
Cool Experimental "Bacon Slab" 😁 I like the random sounds and the "sampling" function... It is cool, but I dont think I would use it in my Setup... I have a Korg Volca Sample 2 already 😊 don't need this one... Thank You for Sharing Dear Bro! Keep up the good work Mate!
Actually I'd have liked to sample some sounds FROM it to use with my other devices ...had to give it back to Yamaha though :(
@@gearfacts Shame...
Can I load my samples in here and select them via midi change bank/change program? Due to the lack of screen I don't see how this machine can be successful as a standalone alternative to a pc setup like Ableton. But it could well act as a sound source for the great sequencers out there. Thanks for your great and open minded reviews.
I haven't done it myself, but I'd be very surprised if it wasn't possible.
So I things are happening on the Mac as you change things on the synth so how is it connected ? I don’t see any cables going to the Mac ?
I am I the beginning of the video so I apologize if this is covered later on. I just don’t want to forget to write my question
Enjoying your video as I appreciate hearing that it’s more than just a “dance” box or a noise box. Some of it reminded me of the korg wavestate
Yes i can hear the similarity to the Wavestate too. It's connected to the Mac with a USB 2 to USB 3 cable, but really the computer isn't essential, the SeqTrak can do just about everything on its own.
@@gearfacts i will keep this synth on my radar. Love the quirky looks
Reminds me of my orange and white Tenori on. Which I still own !!
@@gearfacts and thanks for explaining the connection :)
@@MariaCalfaDePaul No worries -I had a Tenori too, years ago. I think I made a video about it but there are so many now, the memory can't keep track...
@@gearfacts ha I know what you mean
Sometimes someone will ask about some thing I don’t even own anymore
Are you tiny or is the Seqtrak larger than I thought?
Well I’m smaller than average I guess…
I am 3 minutes in and it seems like the seqtrak does not have any vanilla presets lol. Whoosh, boop, tinkle, blarp, hiccup etc.
Ikr! So fun :)
@@gearfacts you could be the trippiest busker ever with one of these!
