- Today, Craig and Valerie taste a Glenn Mango. Glenn is a reliable producer of good mangos - it's one of Valerie's favorites this year.
We will be tasting both mangos grown at our own farm on the west coast of Florida and from other Florida farms (mainly on the east coast). Mangos taste different when grown in different conditions and when picked at different times/ripened differently. Our opinions of a particular mango are just that - opinions on one specific mango, off of a specific tree, growing in a a specific location. We are not evaluating a variety in general and by no means intend to offend anyone by our less than stellar review of what might be your favorite mango.
Sulcata Grove is our 2 acre, backyard food forest. We grow over 60 varieties of bananas along with many fruit trees. Our videos are family friendly.

1. Not counting the newer Zill varieties Glenn is a top 5 or top 10 Mango
2. The comparison to a good sweet cantaloupe is spot on and it's a good breakfast Mango.
3. Glenn has one of the best aromas of any mango even before you cut it.
4. A good very reliable EARLY variety which are harder to come by. Glenn is my favorite EARLY.
5. Trumps VP for flavor and reliable production as VP can often be biannual.
6. IMHE watery Glenn's can be "fixed" by giving them an extra day or two on the kitchen counter.
7. Glenn, Edward & PPK are probably the best 3 EARLY varieties.
8. Carrie & Glenn are probably the two most recommended trees for homeowners who only want 1 or two mango trees.
9. Glenn is a top 5 selling variety at Truly tropical.
10. Gotta agree with Valerie - A good Glenn is one of the best "mild/refreshing/clean" tasting reliable mangoes there is, but it's a spitter if watery.

Although my wife has not tried as many mango varieties as I have, she says Glenn is her favorite. and I really like them also, only negative I have heard from back yard growers is that some years they can be watered down. but the ones I have tried were excellent.

Just a planted a 3 gallon this evening. Planted without ever tasting, hopefully won't be a mistake.
It’s such a low maintenance variety. Definitely worth having. Great producer.

Our Valencia Pride has produced every year since being planted in 2012. Our ValCarrie is on track for producing for the second year in a row.
