another way to get wayy more transitions: put two clips together in the timeline until there's a weird purple and blue pattern between them. then open up the properties window and click on that pattern in the timeline. then you can select the transitions you want whether it be a cross fade or a blur.

Excellent video. I'm a beginner just trying to put a lot of old family clips together. They're fairly tacky but have a lot of sentimental value. This is perfect for me. Really appreciate the bit about Shotcut shutting down, I thought I was doing something wrong. It always pops right back up though, so I'm good. I hate it when someone who knows it all does one of these. They tend to leave out little things that EVERYONE knows, except for me.

For transitions you can also just drag one clip in time line a bit on other clip so that they overlays a bit. That way you get nice transition that one clip starting to fade and you already see next one fading in. Something like fading in fog or something. This kind of transition is without blackness what you get by using simple fade in/out..

Guys... stay away from those chinese craps/scams like filmora, movavi, etc. With Open Source video editing programs as Olive & Shotcut you can achieve the same results (even better sometimes?) than the "fat dogs" ones in the area. Just release your inspiration and need for experimenting...
    Some tips:
    - Use the "Community Effects" pack for Olive
    - Get a Open Source Video & Image post-processing program as Natron
    - Try to mastering a complete (and free) Image processing program as Darktable, and other to vectoring and make cool titles and logos as Inkscape.
    - Make a coffee (or tea) and take your time to experiment and get fun!...

I'm a senior (65+) creator trying to learn this program, and your tutorial was really helpful.
I'm coming from Win Vid Editor so this learning curve is HUGE!! But your video seems to make this program user-friendly.
I really liked learning about all the filters, what fun. I do music (ukulele ) teaching tutorials on lots of really old music (30s, 40s) so all those old film effects will be cool.
And even though I do have a powerful computer, I'm OK with the preview being as it is. It doesn't bother me.
I THINK you are working on a PC, which again, is super helpful for me.
As to the Fade In by grabbing the little bubble thing: on my computer or version of Shotcut, that also does an Audio face in so I think you have to uncheck and Audio fade in and then hit the minus button so you don't get the Audio face in, correct???
I don't mess with color grading --- I'm colorblind! LOL!
Looking forward to watching the rest of this video! Thank you!

I'm glad I find this video now. I'm currently using Shotcut with little to no idea how to use most of the stuff on it. Thank you for uploading this video.

This is very very good course, You’re probably in the top five teachers. I am French speaking and have to listen very carefully as you speak so fast. I can’t believe that I get most of it. Thank you so much.

Watched a previous tutorial you had up and you went way to fast. This one is on point. Healthy tips, tricks, shortcuts and indepth explanations of the how's and why's- all at a good pace. Awesome vid, thank you.

I find this video too late. But boy, two years after you uploaded this and I still find it really useful for my editing. That X shortcut really helps me (I previously delete video and space manually haha)
