@wingsofwinter2600 Correct, a guy being called a position that’s not his position is shade. “Hey dude who likes to shoot the ball, you’d be great at passing me the ball”
@wingsofwinter2600the point of blue lock is(kinda spoilers so I recommend if you’re not caught up on the manga don’t read) Is how someone like Isagi, who is more built for mid fielding and passes and isn’t really cut out(initially) to BE a striker but can achieve their goals by sticking to their ego, practice, and their strive to get better to BE the best, if you’re caught up, then you’ve probably noticed that Isagi has been the one of the best if not the best strikers in blue lock in mentality alone, not to mention his ability to adapt to most players on the field and use them to his advantage. He’s able to to get people behind him for the sake of his goals and his scoring ability. I’d argue that the fact that “half” the community believes that he’s better a midfielder(whether they’re right or not) miss the entire point of blue lock, and don’t understand the story writing or character of Isagi Yoichi
@@JCXD7Lthis actually isn’t true. Originally blue lock was going to be about eliminating everyone to get one striker. But when the Japan Football Union said they wanted to cut the funds that’s when they proposed the Japan u20 match. Which then changed the blue lock project from finding a singular striker to making a full team and people finding their best position.

I usually skip discussions, but your reaction discussions were genuinely so thoughtful and on-point cooking that I'll just say, you guys will def enjoy what this series will offer! Movie will come end of June to American theaters, and S2 will air Oct 2024! Y'all one of the few to immediately get the message and nuance of the show just within the first ep!
OMG lezzzgoo!! Another series I'm hyped for ( i begun following u guys from ur solo leveling reactions ) Funfact : Blue lock was sooo big even the Japanese football team had its themed uniform on during this last world cup!! it was crazy fr fr!!! ( It was also the best selling manga at that time too surpassing jjk ,OP, MHA,DS...)
A talented athlete with a charming smile and a legion of fangirls; in the beginning, Kira was really giving off Oikawa vibes. I've not seen this series, I never knew anyone interesting till now who was reacting to it. Looking forward to seeing what this series has to offer!
Oh yeah fs!! I remember everyone thinking Kira was gonna be one of the main dudes but he ends up being eliminated straight up! He gives mc energy but it's shown like that to shake up your expectations I think lol - and it did
Japan's Men's team has never won the world cup, they have only qualified for the knockout stages 3 times, but have never one a game in that stage. The Japanese Women's team has won the World Cup before in 2011
I LOVE BLUE LOCK. Hope you like it and continue to watch it 😊 There is no special powers, it's metaphorical in case you wonder. Blue Lock is deeper than it looks, self-doubt and other psychological/emotional aspects.
blue lock is bringing a new concept for sport anime, that concept is really making this show really up there with haikyuu 🔥 hope you enjoy this crazy ride.
great discussion on japanese culture and morality affecting the overall country's competitive spirit, thats definitely worth keeping in mind and you'll see eventually that there are people that push against Ego's philosophy. also, its hard to say if this series has any bearing on it, but Japan's younger futbol players show a good amount of promise (the U19s)
Anime that made me play football/soccer was Captain Tsubasa then Inazuma Eleven came out and it was peak football fiction then Blue Lock with it's "I'm gonna step on you for my evolution".. Man I love all these football animes. 😍
ngl, I kinda stopped at ep 1 at first, then picked it up after an year or so and binged it! That happened because Haikyuu is my favorite, but I kept it aside and then I started enjoying this more! It's great in it's own way!💪🏼 Excited to watch this along with y'all!🫡
LOVE Blue Lock, excited to see you all get into it, also to answer your first question I thought the same thing about America being the only ones to call it soccer but apparently it's not as bad as you think. The US, Canada, Australia, South Africa and some Asian countries generally call it soccer.
the show definitely had impact on the Japan team as it released during the World Cup and the author made the jerseys the Japan team wore for the World Cup
@@skyclubreacts I second op's recommendation. Ao Ashi is also excellent. It's a more natural path to development for the protag, but also hype as hell.
11:35 Some reactors misunderstood this part. Those who fail won't get a chance to play for Japan National Team, not that they can't play football in Japan ever again. They still can play for Japanese clubs or foreign clubs, just not the National Team. Another thing, all the players mentioned so far are real players, except for Noel Noa. Zico played for Brazil 1976-1986. Eric Cantona played for France and also Manchester United (my favorite club). He was infamously known for kung-fu kicking a fan who heckled him. 🤣 Pele, Messi, and Ronaldo are well known enough. Also, Euro and Copa America are going on right now, so you might be interested in watching Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe in action.
Yeah it's conceptually the opposite of Haikyuu! Glad y'all caught that - it can be 50-50 for people bc of that, because ppl usually like sports anime for the teamwork, but it's good to watch to spice up your sports anime repertoire bc of it lol - and I like the characters being insane lmao, the first challenge got me hyped It does provide the toss up p clearly though, the objective vs subjective elements of sports - at the end of the day it's a competition, though you may make friends and need to rely somewhat on others, someone has to score and that's what'll actually put you on the podium. (Haikyuu and Blue Lock are like on opposite ends of this, and I'd put Kuroko no Basket around the middle of it actually, bc of how the storyline goes, but that's my own thoughts XD)
The early part of blue lock remind me of inazuma eleven GO where the MC started out only good at dribble but improves as times goes on. Like inazuma eleven GO the stakes are high it can range from the characters losing their life and, dream to literally saving earth from being swallowed by a black hole. Of course inazuma eleven focus more on the entertainment and insanity part
@@Jing_Ling_UnclesNot completely yeah maybe, but I was actually reminded of Haikyuu S3 with the difference in approach/playing style of Shiratorizawa vs Karasuno. [And to an extent Johzenji given everyone goes for the ball, but yeah still nothing like Blue Lock lol]
@@Jing_Ling_Unclesnot really shiratorizawa embodied blue lock’s ideals. They centred a team around ushijima and because of him their offensive strategy was just to leverage him. Karasuno also has blue locks ideals in it. Look at tsukishima who focused on blocking ushijima and succeeded instead of coordinating with others.

I get any mixed feelings/apprehension about sports anime with a bit of fantasy elements - Haikyuu is fairly realistic throughout, but yeah it took a bit for Kuroko no Basket to then grow on me bc of it. I think as long as your prepared for that though and take it in stride, you can get engaged in the storyline, because the concepts are still based on real stuff :P
@@skyclubreacts Oh I never finished it - I watched with someone else and never got past like, ep14 or smth lol and dropped it, probably won't pick it back up.
