I swear Tom all these little intros you do at the beginning of your videos you could put them all together on a CD and put them out and people would buy it I know I would throw very creative blown away buddy blown away
Your soft nostalgic ballads like this are my fav. The overdriven classic rock stuff is cool but this just speaks to my soul of the aches of life and perhaps roads not taken.
@BeefNEggs057 Funny that you said that - while listening to Tom's opener, I found myself closing my eyes and thinking about my childhood. Great music and great musicianship is a trigger for the mind to go places...
I agree. The hard rock stuff is kinda played out. None of us are that young and bravado filled anymore. Our generation has reached the reflection stage of life and music like this certainly helps. Tom’s a master.
Sometimes I still need a blown out power chord or frenetic rhythm to relate to, for dynamic contrast. Too much introspection can be a drag, man. However, Uncle Larry is the master of bringing energy and excitement to cleaner guitar tones. Guthrie too. That ain't easy. Of course, good mellow music is very important. Anything that can calm the nerves, soothe the soul, or chill you.
Forgive me here, I've had a bit drink. But, listening to this im reminded how melody and life seem to go hand and hand. The ebbs and flows and the tension and release. Fckn hell im sure ive drank to much!
I love your videos Tom, just for the guitar playing. I love great guitar playing. I'm not a musician as I told you on a couple of previous comments. I came to your channel through Josh Weathers been following him almost 20 years. Met Dan the other night in Nashville. Im back home in Texas. I wish you could see my friend Scott McGill play. Hes a legend here in SE Texas. He was doing Stevie Ray Vaughn before there was a SRV. Lady Luck doesn't always shine on the most talented. I'm sure you've run across that. I've been following Scott since I was 17 yrs old, I'll be 66 next month. Im very loyal to my musician friends. I consider Scott McGill the best guitarist in the world and I've seen many a big time guitar players in all these years of going to concerts and shows. I know that's a very ambitious statement but I'm a live music freak from the mid 70's. Ive seen a lot of guitarists. That's why I say I wish you could see him live, a CD just doesn't do him justice. Just like Josh, his live shows are amazing!! See him once live and you're hooked! Jim Croce one of my favorite artists of all times. The lyrics, man they are so meaningful. You probably view it quite differently than me lol You are one of the most famous guitar sessions guys ever! Larry, at about 2:40 into this video, you play some of the finest hammer ons I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. The evenness, timing, and smooth vibrato is awe inspiring. Hammering on perfectly in rhythm at a slow tempo is so difficult, and you make it sound effortless.
