Resell value goes down meaning if u brought a ap or rolex for example if the watch cost around 20k for example and they stop making that model in a year or two and u try re sell it to watch sellers that will increase in value around 50k to even 70k because its no longer in production but however if u iced it out drilled holes In it and paid like 5k to 10k on top basically u won't be able to get much money out of it or even 20k that u originally brought it for because they toke out the original piece parts and the only worth is the diamonds that's on it so it basically 10k so practically u bent over and fu'cked like majority of the rappers
I prefer plain Jane's and the reason is because I'm around a bunch of guys that are high class guys and they all have plain Jane rolexs and the only time they will wear a diamond rolex is if rolex themselves made the rolex like that with the rolex and even they don't go too overboard with the diamond settings. Plus as a black guy people tend to profile and judge you if you have a bust down high end watch fully loaded with diamonds so I don't so bust down high end watches, I only have one rolex day date ll 41mm Arabic wave black dial which was used and I purchased it from a authorized rolex dealer for a very cheap affordable price and I get so many compliments from everyone at my job because 41mm's are discontinued and were replaced with the 40mm. That's the only rolex I own and don't plan on buying any more. But I do love those patek philippe watches along with harry Winston watches as well. When I finish paying my car off I'm going buy a patek philippe.
My two cents Eric is that diamonds and rare watches will always be admired for it's aesthetic and statements, but like with everything else (myspace and facebook) people will continue to move forward and shift towards something that appeals to them... their attention is valuable, and only genuine creativity will never let a trend die. Some companies make poor quality watches then ice them out and people buy it for the bling factor. With the high end luxury watches if the factory doesn't add the diamonds then the watch loses resell value.
