My name is Eric and I travel with my cat, “Jax” in a 2012 Coachmen Mirada 32BH Class A Motorhome on a Ford Super Duty truck chassis. (V10 Triton) We travel about 35 miles a day chasing 70 degrees year-round since 2010. I travel with a 2009 Honda CMX 250 on the back of my RV on a Titan Ramp 600lb carrier. Bike goes 78mph and gets 70mpg. Here is my gear & some popular questions answered:

If your bed slides, just put adhesive Velcro under mattress.
I was thinking the same thing or maybe some kind of non-slip material on top of the wood.

Or a half-inch piece of wood on the edge to stop it from sliding.

I just turned 75 yesterday. I am not one of those crotchety "Older Generation Guys" who always had it the toughest. I have been following you young people like Outdoor Gear Review, Corporal's Corner, Hobo Shoestring and Joe and Zach Survival. You can pick up on a few things for when things come crashing down around our ears. You said you are not carpenter. Well you seem to do a hell ova lot better than I have dreamed of working in wood.

I was in an accident last month. My family was unable to see me. I was really being well cared for. Im home still recovering and watching your videos and passing the time. Ribs are still painful. My heart goes out to you and your family. Bless those that are watching over your brother.

Keep doing the leaves daily Eric, if you wait it will be a disaster. Believe it or not its easier to the leaves 5 times then 1 big time. I am a leaf expert!!!!
Yes, besides the acid in the leaves kills the grass.
Yep, it only gets worse the longer you wait. And that basement/crawl space vent needs to be cleared.
Plus-leaves piled about and around the structures are perfect hiding spots for snakes, bugs, rodents...
Great Video as always Eric. A couple of Hints.
A) Do not put in a chunk of 2x4 in the middle of the side of the Bed. (You'll learn why in a hurry the first time you get out of Bed.) Instead use the ideas of many others here and use Non Slip.
B) Make it a double step in the Corner. Jax and you will thank yourself in the future.
C) That is good news on your Brother. I know the feeling of hopelessness, I lost my Mother last year. She was in Massachusetts and I was in Florida.
D) Reinforce the Plywood Bed Top. It will work out better in the long run.
E) Save that Knife. Toss it in a drawer even though it didn't work so well on the thin flexible Plastic covering the Mattress. What it will work well on is the damned Space Age Plastic Packaging holding almost everything we buy these days. (It works better than Scissors.)
I used to tell my old landlord who was a fanatic about raking leaves, that if God didn't want them to be on the ground, He'd have left them up in the trees.

Eric I’m not a carpenter not even close but I’ve made some amazing things including 3 beds with pocket hole joinery like keg jig. I mainly build things with pine 1”X & 2’X material and once you’ve cut your boards it’s just a mater of using the right Kreg jig screws 1 1/4” course pan head for 1X and 2 1/2” pan head, course thread screws for 2X material. You should check out how to use it. Honestly you will be a pro in no time!! To build a rectangle box like for the bed you’re building would be so easy and super sturdy. Not that yours isn’t I guarantee you, you would use it on further projects!
If you did get one? I would suggest the cheapest standard one Kreg makes. TH-cam some simple Kreg jig projects or TH-cam: Ana White or Shanty2Chic or 731woodworks. Your bed frame is going look nice when you’re done!GoodLuck Eric!
I'll be keeping Barry in my prayers, and will also be praying for your peace of mind being so far from your family. My bed is high off the ground like yours is and I'm pretty short so I got one of those Rubbermaid plastic step stools from Walmart. It is still a bit high for me to climb into even with that, but I use it every night. I love my high bed.

I was thinking,kinda, along the same line, I have a dull life when Eric is the highlight of my day- I found myself looking forward to his updates, today, I think Eric is now a habit with me- Eric and Jax ofcourse- I laughed that Eric has the same problem as me getting into bed, altho' I can no longer 'jump' into bed like Eric!

I just lost my brother this pass month due to his asthma lung condition plus, a fall he had getting out of bed in the night at the rehabilitation place the hospital sent him too. The moral of his death was that due to my health and old age I couldn’t make the trip to get to him. I know the pain your feeling and I know exactly how your feeling. All you got left to do is pray for him and your parents. Just know your friends have your back. Granny Fan

I did 3 door front & the lift up board. Makes it really easy to get thing out either way. I live in Wa. Got 2 friends in the hospital & can’t see them.
2 suggestions. There is drawer liner that is designed to prevent slip. Just line the plywood under your mattress. 2. Instead of hinges for the cabinets doors make them slide doors. You could make them slide side to side, but I'd make them up and out of the way in case you have to work on the hot water heater. Just use finger holes instead of handles that way they are much less snaging on you and your clothing.

I am so glad your brother is going to be OK. I also lost my brother in May, and could not be with him at the end because of the restrictions. Very tough.
I like the way your bed came out. I have a similar mattress, and it’s very comfortable. I would like to suggest though that you drill a bunch of small holes in the platform for air circulation. This type of mattress can actually get moldy on the bottom, particularly if you’re using any propane heat in your rig, which causes condensation.
The leaves make great kindling.

I like that mattress and for that price that's exactly what I need for my bus Hey I gotta question are you gonna put holes in the plywood to keep it vented so no mold will start I don't know I was told when I build my bed to make sure I put holes in the plywood what's your input? Regarding the mattress lighting around go to Walmart or whichever store and get one of those rubber mats that go underneath a rug so it doesn’t slide that should work

First, we hope the best for Barry, and for you. We know that terror, too. Second, good engineering! You might want to install headboard to provide clearance for the curtain, and a small cleat at the foot will keep your mattress in place. Consider bypass sliding doors on the sides - easy to do, hardware available at Lowe's, but really not needed.

Sometimes it’s comforting to family to just have loved ones there. You don’t have to do anything but be a calming/loving presence. When I had surgery just to have my daughter and husband there were a major comfort to me.
