I know everybody's hating on Snow, but she was young and she thought she was doing what was best. She didn't know any better, and just because she made that one mistake doesn't mean she's "evil".

It's Cora's fault that there was an Evil Queen.
Our experiences may influence our characteristics and our responses towards things, but we humans are also born with sinful nature. That's why humans have tendencies to make sins or do evil.
@martinski Regina carries the main responsibility, sure, and she paid the price for it; but you can't deny Cora's role in it. She and Rumple created the monster by pushing Regina over the edge. There is only so much that on eperson can handle.

I think kora wanted regina to hate snow white because of her feude with her mother. It was all a revenge plot. Turn her daughter evil using snowwhite in order to get revenge on everyone that wronged her when she was younger starting with snowwhite and her family since her mother was basically a bully to kora when she was a commoner.

Cora is the only one to blame. when she said "all I want is her happiness", Snow told her Regina already had someone and she shouldn't marry Snow's father she didn't love. Snow thought Cora would really let Regina marry her true love, but Cora manipulated her. I'm glad Snow killed that witch.
You can point blame to a lot of people you can point blame to Snow's mother Eva for making Cora seek nothing but revenge because of how bratty she was a princess. You can blame Rumple for manipulating everyone so Cora would have a daughter who loses everything and wants to cast the dark curse.

But in the case of Queen Eva is different... she just didn´t want to lose her throne.
But She didn´t remove her daughter´s bf heart nor pushed everybody to a curse to find her son like Cora and Rumple did respectively.
Furthermore we saw that Queen Eva changed with the passagr of time and Kora didn´t. In fact she became worse.
Cora did change but unfortunately when she changed she was already dead she changed when she realized all the closure she needed was to see regina and zelena be united as sisters and have her family together of course not having a heart in her prior to death made her never see that

Has anyone else thought that Cora knew about Daniel the whole time and just manipulated everyone into thinking Snow broke the big secret? She was fooling around with Rumpel while trying on her wedding dress for Henry, she should've been able to recognize when her daughter was carrying on a "secret" romance.

Cora was nothing if not observant. Regina loved horse riding and didn't care how she looked while galloping across the fields - she didn't spend forever primping in front of a mirror before her lessons or getting excited about longer lessons because wanted to impress the horse.
I don't think she really knew until Snow told her. But she might've been suspicious.

I felt bad for her right from the start when snow told her mother that she was going to run away. that's like a huge kick in the gut when you had your whole plan set out and someone comes and ruins it
I really felt so bad for Regina making me see that maybe she was not all evil and that she had a horrible thing happen to her that triggered her to be so evil when all she wanted was love and because her heart was so broken that she could only blame the one person for her misery which was Snow though Snow though that she was was trying to help Regina though she did not know the consequences for sharing that Secret with Regina mother.

I love this episode. I mean, at the really beginning of the show I used to hate Regina. She seemed to be so evil and a person who manipulated everyone. But this episode changed completely the way I saw her and now (after watching the hole series twice) she's still my favorite character of them all
I mean, I love Regina but this episode was really stupid to me. The whole show until this episode she keeps implying snow is really mean and only she can see it. We, watching it, are really led to think that there’s a big revelation coming of snow doing something truly awful. And then we see what happened, and it’s so clear that snow had no idea and also was a CHILD. Like cora did everything, including manipulating Snow, and Regina knows her mother. I could have felt sympathy for Regina, and I did at other points, but this particular storyline was always weak to me because it’s honestly poor writing

Can you really blame Cora any more than you can blame Regina for all of her evil? The dark one pretty much started it all. Taught Cora to be heartless and helped her learn magic in the first place. If it wasn't for him the cycle of evil would never have started.

Snow never said that Regina loved Daniel the stable boy, she just said that Regina didn't love the king and that she loved somebody else, Cora manipulated Snow into telling her everything by using her own mom about it Snow just wanted to help her, even if Snow had never told Cora then she would've still found out about it, she had her suspicions about it, and Regina had a choice, she didn't have to stay evil, she chose that herself, and Snow didn't make the kingdom hate Regina they did that on their own and Snow was very naive when she was a child. And Emma never stole Henry from Regina, he chose to find Emma cause he was misrable with Regina, and he chose to live with Emma, there's always a choice, it's just a matter of making the right choice.

Exactly. Cora would've found out anyway, she just threw Snow White into the mess, so that Regina would have a reason to blame her.
She might have known about Daniel but not when and where and that they were going to run. The boundary spell only went up to keep Regina in when Cora found out they were going to run away to keep Regina from doing it again.

I don't understand this theory that Snow White did this on purpose so she could have Regina as her step mother. Well Snow white didn't know that Cora was evil and that she was going to kill Daniel. She told Cora because she didn't want Regina to loose her mom and she thought Cora would help Regina. And in this scene Snow white had no idea that Daniel was dead she thought Regina was going to marry him.
Cora is coming back. We don't know if its present time or in a flashback. I never thought of Rumple and Cora planning together the whole time. how did they get revenge on each other?

I don’t think it’s right to blame Snow. She was just an innocent girl who naively trusted a woman she wanted as a grandmother. It was all Cora’s fault. I have a feeling Cora would have found out because Regina wasn’t careful at keeping her feelings for Daniel secret. Or maybe, she already knew and just feigned ignorance to give Regina and Snow a false sense of security.

LOL I had forgotten I made some of these comments to be honest. I didn't "get" Regina's hatred of Snow for a while but reading meta and analysis on other sites has helped me understand it better. I still think the reason why Regina hates Snow so much could have been a little better but I do understand it more now than I did when the episode aired.

I remember my mother making me promise that Grandma shouldn't find out about certain things.
Especially with some adults who are in constant conflict and where a mother (Cora) mistreats her daughter. many psychopaths do not need to touch their victims even a hair to harm the entire family environment. I really see the family conflict that existed in my family very well embodied. My grandmother, like Cora, mistreated my mother and me, but my mother has taken the worst part and my grandfather. They were the ones who suffered the most abuse
Whenever I watch this episode, and this is probably because I always try to find another explanation for why people do things, I always think Cora was actually going to let them go at first. Because she’s talking to Daniel, and when he says “that’s what you’re doing now” her face kind of changes. And she stops for a moment, and to me it looks like she’s making a decision. So maybe she WAS going to let them leave then changed her mind. Probably not, but that’s how it always seemed to me.

Gosh I made this comment about a year ago just after the episode aired or soon after. I have come to understand Regina's reasoning a bit more since then. The abuse Regina suffered at the hands of her mother coupled with a number of other things it is understandable. It really was a messed up situation. I feel sorry for both Regina and Snow to be honest.
The reason Regina went after Snow was... it was easier. Safer. She was too terrified of her mother to go after her directly, so she chose the most convenient target- a sweet, innocent child who was only trying to do the right thing.
Regina is a sick, twisted, murderous bitch who definitely deserves to pay for what she's done, but I also hope she's able to redeem herself because Cora- and Rumple, since he engineered everything that happened to her- fucked her up so bad

The thing is, Tink says you can have more than one. She says if True Love can be found once, it could be found again. It's understandable how Regina feels. Snow made a dumb mistake, but that mistake really fucked up Regina's life.

Well let's see... Snow caused Regina's boyfriend's death (her true love), she got the whole kingdom to hate Regina, Snow gave birth to a daughter that stole Regina's legal son, Snow messes with all of Regina's plans, Snow is considered "the fairest of them all", Snow has killed a bunch of her soldiers, Snow tried to invade Regina's kingdom and kill her, Snow killed Regina's mother, and Snow looked and sounded annoying as a kid. I think the writer unintentionally made Snow White a wicked villain.
