8 years since this scene and I still believe is one of the most sad I had seen on a tv show. The pain in not being able to forgive and move on. The pain in holding onto old beliefs
This scene is such sublime. From the acting to the dialogues. I love Cora's point, hurting yourself is not strength but Regina's plea at the end. Get the hell out of my life. Ouch, just perfect.
This thing that Cora Regina and Zelena all have in common is they can't except that they could to be happy their entire life it seems that happiness was not something that they could achieve and when they see that they have the chance to be happy they automatically think it's a lie and that is probably the saddest thing that could ever happen. They self destruct and truly get in the way of their happiness.
I realized that I was standing in the way of my own happiness after I saw this scene. After I decided to let myself be happy I met the love of my life, and now four years later we are married. I still feel sad sometimes but I do my best to turn thing around.
This will always be one of my favorite scenes. When Regina uses Cora’s words against her and shows Cora the extent of the way she pushed Regina. Just sucks that she never tried to find a way to reverse the effects. But at least she was able to adopt Henry
Cora was right in saying that Regina is the only person standing in the way of her own happiness. But I didn't like that Cora didn't admit what she did. What she did was wrong. Trying to persuade The sheriff to impregnate Regina.
Why was this never undone.... or talked about ever again. Regina was destined to become a mother when the right person came along in her life to wake her up with true love's kiss.
Sometimes, I don't really understand Cora. She claims she loves Regina & does want her daughter to be happy, but she has a funny way of showing it. Maybe her intentions were meant well, but having someone pretend to be her soulmate is misguiding & insulting to Regina's intelligence. I never thought I would agree with Cora, but she is right about getting in your own way of your own happiness. Regina did it to herself, now she can't have a biological baby. She was only hurting herself.
I can understand Cora, because my mother is a lot like her. My mother wants me and my sister to have the life she never got, and protect us from the mistakes she has made. And though I thank her for that, she's also hurting us, keeping us from living, feeling, and experiencing things. So Cora is literally a tough love mother, misguided and hardly satisfied, If only she didn't rip out her heart and let her mind cloud her judgment.
Well said! A very good observation. Cora came from a place of feeling "not enough" which is why she was so power hungry & wanted Regina to be Queen. Cora thought she could vicariously live through Regina to over-compensate for her inadequacies. She thought she was giving her daughter the world with…status, fancy ball gowns, a kingdom, etc. But, all she was really doing was making Regina become someone Cora wants her to be, not accepting Regina for who she really is. In the first season, Regina made it clear to Cora that she didn't care about status, but Cora didn't care to listen thinking she knew what was best for her daughter. The moral of the story is self-acceptance & self-love. If Cora accepted herself as she was & chose to love herself unconditionally, then she would have been a better mother to Regina. She wouldn't have pushed Regina so hard or pushed her away…she would know that true love doesn't see weaknesses, flaws & inadequacies…it only sees everything is in its beauty & perfection, nothing more or less. I think all Regina wanted was to be her true authentic self & to be loved for who she really is.

I think that deep down just by looking at the way the evil Queen looked at the glass with a sad look meant that deep down she never wanted to harm herself though she was evil Queen and I'm sure that Regina now regrets what she did to herself back when she was evil. I think that because Cora had such odd ways to help her daughter that when she actually wanted to help her Regina shut her out the same way Emma shut her mother out. I don't know guys, I feel like if I was Regina I would have done the same thing. Cora is the root for all her sadness and despair. She wouldn't be the evil queen if Cora hadn't killed Daniel.
