    You really have inspired me to get back into this great hobby again.I was almost put off by cost after watching someone on here planning a layout and talking about spending £10k..thanks to you and Doug you have shown me there are other better ways to enjoy it.Great video as always.

    Reminds me of a layout you showed in a Peco track plan? magazine a few months ago. Nice to see it come to life. It’s amazing that a simple shunting layout can occupy so much time without being repetitive. Thanks for the ideas. ✌🏾

    I like how your able to come up with very simple but somewhat amazing Layout Designs! Looking forward to more Videos on the Layout!

    Hi Mike, impressed with this micro shunting layout & would love to make it myself. I’ve acquired a few goods wagons & will need to buy a loco. I need also to purchase the track. Being a total novice could you break down the exact track plan, so I could buy what’s needed & have a go please? Thanks Mike👍

      Hi thanks. I've built simpler and more effective layouts after this, perhaps take a look at my how to making a layout for complete beginners series. Generally you will need three or four points depending on which end your track comes in. This one used four right hand points with single straights and some bits of old Lima track. Consider buying second hand track and points as this can half the cost but buy Peco not Hornby as they are much more effective for shunting layouts. I don't have the layout any more and never draw track plans, sorry my layouts evolve rather than being designed. I have loads of videos on different shunting layouts so maybe take a look at them? Anything else just ask

    I like the fact that you have included the wiring, as I think that this is what people find most confusing. I know I do.

    Every so often i've got to toss some kind of diorama or micro "layout" together , just to keep my model railroading sanity .
    ... 👌 Like that plug-in Fiddle Yard

      @@BudgetModelRailways as a result of your inspiration, I have "created" a winter winderland scene on a board; so that finally I have fulfilled the dream to have a OO guage track round a Christmas tree!!! Very simple with 8x 1st radius double curve track!

      @@BudgetModelRailways Never too late! Got my children to dress the tree, then added the scene when they werent looking as a surprise! Local Timber yard cut 80cm by 80 cm mdf. Added insulation as snow; rolled up polystyrene on backing paper from diy. Tacked down track and created the scenery. Lemax sell all types of xmas themed accesories including trees with snow...!

    It inspires me to do similar in N gauge and use a similar space

    • @BudgetModelRailways
      @BudgetModelRailways  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could get a lot more in with N, though it's harder to shunt with N

      Budget Model Railways ..Curious, what makes shunting with n gauge a bit harder from your experience?

  • @odalesaylor
    @odalesaylor 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a suggestion for 3-D printing. A housing that would hold the device that connects the NCE DCC PowerCab to the track. It would be nice to be able to use the NCE without having to mount that piece of hardware to a layout.

    Thanks for sharing, I'm planning something similar myself based on part of the Madder Valley railway layout, check it out it's a great layout one of the first if not the first to be built. By the way as a money conscious modeller are you aware that some companies do free downloads of brick paper and the like, once downloaded you can print as many copies as you like no need to ever buy brick paper again? Thanks keep up the good work.

    I wonder if there was a way to attach 2 completely different wooden sections in order to make a small quasi-modular setup there. Micro-layouts are a favorite due to how much one can put in a small place.
