Without disrespect, and on another subject, there's record cases of a woman who overcame terminal pancreatic cancer and later overcame liver cancer and has gone on to live into her 90's when she would have otherwise been dead in her 40's. How? Mexico clinic (highly persecuted by big AMA, CDC, big pharma) offering plenty of cancer killing nutrients and protocols, with solid track record. Why we never hear about it? You figure that out.

People rarely take this into account when debating 9mm vs 45acp. 9mm might have a slight edge in self defense, but the 45 can cover a lot more bases if your gun can handle the Super or the 450SMC.
The hottest 9mm+p+ rounds max out at about 500ft.lbs, but rounds like the 45 Super and 450 SMC can reach the 700ft.lbs mark, not to mention the 460 Rowland which can exceed 1000ft.lbs! They also achieve this with a wider bore and heavier bullet.

One problem I have had with 10mm glocks and using hot loads is the slide would come back and hit the frame and disrupt the cycle so just something to check out. The fix I found was going to a heavier 22lb recoil spring vs going lighter. Just a thought that might help with the 45 super
I've been loading and shooting 45 Super since Dean A. Grennell started posting it. 250gr Gold Dots expand to about .80-90 cal at 1050 FPS The 230 gr Gold dots over expand and start to peel back to the shank at about .70 cal at 1100 FPS. On the Glock 21 I use a 24# spring, after market better supported barrel and a stainless steel guide rod, S&W 4506 with a 22# spring. Starline makes the brass. H&K MK23 shoots them as is without any mods needed. It's the caliber the gun was designed for.
Sounds like maybe I need to go up from 22 to 24 lb spring. Some people say that the 41 I run has a lighter slide than a 21 so it moves faster. Looked up now, G41 does seem to show 2.5 ox lighter than the 21.
@@GunSam You've got three things different from my 21sf 3rd gen. One a multi piece recoil system, two lighter barrel+slide mass, and last .7" more barrel giving you that much more total bolt thrust over time. See if you can find a one piece guide rod and adapter to get it simplified a little more. I try to tune the springs to get an 8' or so ejection. Further and it's needless slide/frame battery. Less and reliability might suffer. I was very surprised that the 230gr XTP did that well, the 250's only opened to about .55 cal. at 1050FPS.
That 230 grain XTP load for the .45 Super is a much more balanced load than the 185 grain load tested recently. It would make one hell of a Bambi whacker.
If you shoot to the left make sure that you are turning your left elbow up a little bit this will keep you from pushing usually this is something we do with Glocks but I'm sure it could help with the revolver too
Man that Super round turned out about perfect! I think that lower penetration and above average (for an XTP) expansion is likely due to it being designed for 45acp velocities. 850 is a long way from 1200+. The 44 was designed for a 44 magnum so it performed like an XTP is supposed to. I think they are both very impressive. I don't know what to say about your Glock. I have 7 I think currently and have had several more over the last 25 years. They have all been just about boring perfect. I noticed you have an aftermarket barrel in it for this video and I am immediately suspicious of it. Is it the same manufacturer as your 10mm conversion barrel? I think its a Wolfe? I would steer far clear of that company if it is. Modifying a Glock is kind of like second guessing Toyota. I am very cautious of mods to Glocks. Those are almost always the guys who have reliability issues. Thanks for the vid Sam! Love your channel Sir! . EDIT: I just started watching your last video. I haven't been able to watch on my home PC because of extended commuting related issues over the last few days. I see it is a KKM match barrel, and I like the way it looks in that other video. That tight chamber is a compromise toward accuracy over reliability every time. I like them for what they are worth. The ramp on it looks 100% better than that 10mm barrel too. The tight chamber is just one of those things though. It is extra insurance against case failures on the 45 super, but harder to feed reliably. The original 45 super designed by Ace Customs of Texas used modified 308 cases cut down to acp length. They are much thicker. I believe the new production Super spec cases are very thick too. They should be ok in the stock barrel but I understand if you don't trust the unsupported chamber. Love the vid's buddy! Keep them coming!
I would love to see a test where you have the gel vertical, a space of maybe 6 inches and then another gel. Just to see how many 'bodies' one round would go through.
Body of what though? Clear Ballistics is roughly a 50% representation of a body, so 18" is one body. Probably only 20% of the ammo I test gets into even the second block after 16" penetration.
The .45 Super needs rounds designed for it. Just as the .357 Sig needed rounds designed for it. Or expansion is extreme and penetration is subpar. In some cases the rounds may come apart.
Yep, .45 Super for defense, but that BB .44 magnum load is definitely full-strength and would make a great deer load. I ran into some awful extraction in a .357 magnum revolver, even with mid-range loads, and noticed that the chambers were horribly fouled from someone shooting the shorter.38 Special rounds.
Can you compare a .45 +p XTP vs a .45 Super XTP? The super looks like a good long range hunting/magnum silhouette caliber but I'm not sure if a conversion is worth it. I've taken hogs and deer out to 100yds with a G21 but the bullet drop is pretty bad unless I use some hot XTP like what wilson combat loads so I usually stock with 10mm.
I have 4 pistols from the Glock line and expect more problems with 45 ACP, rather than the higher pressure 45 super rounds. I would look into the magazine springs.
I'm wondering if hornady expected the xtp in the .44 to be shot from a lever action carbine. Would be interesting to see the expansion with an extra 3 or 400 fps behind it. 357 and 44 seem to gain a ton of fps from barrel length, much more so than auto pistol calibers do in carbines/sub guns. I'm guessing it's from really slow powders like h110 or 2400 commonly used in magnum revolvers. I know from my experience that the same load, 158gr xtp on a near full charge of h110, does around 1250 from my 6 inch revolver and 1750 from my 18.5 inch marlin.

But a 44mag run ruger loads is no joke on pentrashion why 44mag so loved in big bear country or for wild boar
With the 45 Super it looks like your slide was too fast for the mag spring. In some guns, 45 Super requires a heavier recoil and heavier mag springs to lift the rounds fast enough for the slide to pick them up. The slide actually bounces off the frame.
I honestly didn't expect to see a review during this ammopocalypses of .45S or .44mag... Excellent content. Are the bores on your S&W revolver cylinder coated in carbon?
Dang. 45 super for the win w XTPs I believe that is the Tissue Crush Winner of all handgun rounds while still penetrating enough! Also DayAtTheRange did hot handloaded 185 xtp did great too! Now can an unmodded usp45 cycle these reliably??? Wish I would have got one when LE trade ins were cheap be4 they dried up
Buffalo Bore's website lists specifically the Glock 21, H&K USP45 and all steel 1911's as guns that can fire .45 Super in stock configuration. That's with the exception, you don't fire 500 rounds through them lol. If you want to shoot a lot the biggest thing is get a better spring so the frame is less beat up.
@@GunSam I have very little doubts this is the best production "Man Stopper" round I've ever seen. Only a fast 185 or 200 xtp or 200 gold dot .45 super might beat it but that is as good as a pistol could do
I have no idea. I mean, it's perfection with a lot of "********'s". Asterisk that it's perfect, if you do this, and do that. and do it with more Glock upgrades.
You're really killing Glock reliability for me! Just a thought on your revolver... You may be able to polish the chambers with some Flitz without damaging them. Unless they are really rough, Flitz should smooth them up. You really have my wondering about the 19H Buffalo-Barnes low-recoil load now. I've got another test I want to do first, but I'm going to have to see if the 19H is doable for me in the M&P340. I'll also test it out of the 66-8.
.45 Super isn't really a different cartridge in a sense. Yes the brass is tougher, but that's it. More or less it's a .45 ACP+P+ cartridge. So you really don't need conversion kits, you just want a good barrel or strong pistol. Fully supported chamber barrel and stronger recoil spring is all you need.
Did the chambers on your revolver not get properly finished at the factory? Maybe your glock needs a complete new set of springs, or it just wasn't right from the get go.
Sam, the first shot in the gel with the .44 made an horrific channel, with a bubble twice the size of the ball. Is it as large as it looks like on screen?
Not sure about the xtp,I did buy a few hundred in 40 cal 155gr Underwood at a good price. That super round is no joke.I won't carry any Glock for a edc,I own a few Glocks and in at least half of the hundreds of body cam video I have seen they fail to feed ,mostly the cop will limpwrist shooting with one hand and blabbing on the radio with the other.
The .44 is obviously more powerful, but I think the .45 Super is what the .45 ACP really needs. It actually has the power to get full expansion on a big, heavy bullet like that. Great video, can't wait to see more comparisons 👍
If its safe to do so I'd like to see what velocity the 45 super gets out of the governor, I know that people shoot 45 super out of 45acp n frames with no problem but I am unsure if the governor is safe with that ammo.
A G21 will fire .45 Super with no mods, you just don't want to fire a lot. In general though, if you have a gen3 or less that can take a shock buffer, get one. Get an upgraded spring if possible to at least 20 lbs. A fully supported chamber is a good idea. That's all really.
It isn't and it doesn't try to be better cause it can't. The pressure is already high with the smaller case. .380 ACP will also stay around cause it works well with blowback pistols. It allows for slightly more capacity in small pistols. About having an extended mag but flush in a grip that annoys you.
Hot .32s have a long history , going back at least to Elmer Keith's handloads in .32-20 SAA , and .30 Carbine SA Revolvers , so they're a somewhat known quantity in hunting and field shooting . .32-20 service size revolvers were reasonably popular pre WWII , using the so called " for use in 1892 Winchester Only " factory loads of the era , and a known quantity . The .30SC is loaded to 9x23 level pressures to do what it does . Major gun and ammo mfgs wouldn't sell it to the public if it didn't meet the usual industry standards , but those pressures do give one momentary pause . For defensive use , we'll have to wait and see how it works in real life . But I'll go out on a limb and make a prediction : Performance. will overlap into 9mm territory . Hunters and Field Shooters will like the flat trajectory and high Sectional Density . For strictly Defensive use , at typical distances , the primary advantage .30SC would have is magizine capacity . How important that is to you is. subjective ( if such capacity is available to you , in your State ) . Is that enough for droves of 9mm users to dump 9x19 and switch ? That will be a challenge for the advertising departments of the respective gun & ammo mfgs to pull off . My prediction : Will achieve a level of commercial sucuess somewhere between .38 Super and .357 Sig .
I love it when you do 45 videos and I have been contemplating setting up one of my 45's for the super. This test was really good and the expansion with the cop's was impressive. To help with extraction if it bothers you try polishing the chamber. As for as the glock perfection. I'd send it back and let them refurbish it. I expect your feeding issues are mag related. Thanks for all the work you put in these videos. And again you make learning fun. The gun issues ate what I would try. So I don't blame you if you don't want to do anything to them
Saying this to be helpful. You really need to get rid of that glock. I understand the aftermarket barrels and springs for both the 10mm and now the 45 super, but the thing still seems like a lemon.
Sam is very up front about those guns being ammunition test platforms , not carry guns in those configurations . A actual 10mm Glock , using ammo vaguely within design parameters is as reliable as any semiauto pistol . Donate him a G20 , and I'm sure we'd see it regularly in the videos .
@@margarethouse404 I know he is upfront about it. But the video format would be so much cleaner if he weren’t using lemons. He could sell that Glock and get something more reliable for the same price easy.

I actually keep .44 Special in it. That's what I originally wanted was a 4" .44 Special, but current times makes no sense to seek out an L frame .44 Special, same thing with a .357 Mag snub makes more sense than buying just a .38
@@GunSam lol. True.. I love shooting.44 special. Accurate out of my 6 in Taurus.. .44 mag I’m not as accurate. “Age” is my excuse.. I have a 1982 s@w .357.. same thing. .38 dead accurate. Mag, not so much. I appreciate your passion and dedication.. thanks for replying.. your videos are to me, straight to the point. 👍🏻 Apples to apples..
I frequently make the point that if you wish to make actual use of " real .44 Magnum " you need to commit to carrying at least a 4 inch steel N Frame .
45 Super seems to dump a lot of power in the first few inches. I wonder how that stacks up tp a heavy winter work coat. I still think the 45 ACP 230 ball ammo has better for pentation then the 45 Super.
Well Yeah ! But that's an Apples & Oranges comparison. The relevant question would be does 230 XTP from +P or Super adaquately deal with heavy winter clothing , and the answer would be highly likely yes . Switch the bullet options around to compare a std pressure 185 JHP vs Cast or T/C in +P or Super . and the discussion would be flipped .
I know people love glocks but I have read that an hk usp or hk 45 are much more reliable than any glock piece together conversion. And it can take the beating longer due to better recoil spring system. 45 super is awesome

I mean, I ran 22 lb. I could go heavier maybe.
I honestly didn't expect to see a review during this ammopocalypses of .45S or .44mag... Excellent content. Are the bores on your S&W revolver cylinder coated in carbon?
Thanks. I mean, I scrub them before every video.
@@GunSam Makes me worried about my S&W now. I haven't been able to use it due to the task of actually finding .44mag cartridges...
Love it. 😎
Only a fast 185 or 200 xtp or 200 gold dot .45 super might beat it but that is as good as a pistol could do
Being mostly a revolver guy, is this what they mean by Glock Perfection?
I have no idea. I mean, it's perfection with a lot of "********'s". Asterisk that it's perfect, if you do this, and do that. and do it with more Glock upgrades.
Glocks are great in stock form, minus the plastic sights!
Sam, did you ever figure out what the necessary combo for the 45 super was to make it reliable?
You're really killing Glock reliability for me!
Just a thought on your revolver... You may be able to polish the chambers with some Flitz without damaging them. Unless they are really rough, Flitz should smooth them up.
You really have my wondering about the 19H Buffalo-Barnes low-recoil load now. I've got another test I want to do first, but I'm going to have to see if the 19H is doable for me in the M&P340. I'll also test it out of the 66-8.
Try underwood ammo or double tap
Wonder what the “leaners” will say about the camera angle.
Probably that i'm leaning forward.
Where's a good source to purchase a 45 Super conversion kit? Also reloading dies and supplies for the 45 Super?
.45 Super isn't really a different cartridge in a sense. Yes the brass is tougher, but that's it. More or less it's a .45 ACP+P+ cartridge. So you really don't need conversion kits, you just want a good barrel or strong pistol. Fully supported chamber barrel and stronger recoil spring is all you need.
I thought you supposed to put heavier than factory spring for 45 super?
Did the chambers on your revolver not get properly finished at the factory? Maybe your glock needs a complete new set of springs, or it just wasn't right from the get go.
Sam, the first shot in the gel with the .44 made an horrific channel, with a bubble twice the size of the ball. Is it as large as it looks like on screen?
Yeah
I saw that Underwood has some 240 and 230 gr, both Nosler.
How can somebody know if their .45 ACP pistol can use 45 Super ammo?
Your Glock wasn't liking it.
You need to try out the 40 super not only is it the 10 mm Big brother but puts down more energy did the 44 magnum and 45 super,,,,😮😮😮😮😮
If its safe to do so I'd like to see what velocity the 45 super gets out of the governor, I know that people shoot 45 super out of 45acp n frames with no problem but I am unsure if the governor is safe with that ammo.
Personally I wouldn't do it. It's rated for .45+P. While I doubt it would explode, I don't want to be the one who makes it happen first.
I think I'd take the 45 Super for self defense against people in this instance. Larger expansion, no overpenetration like the 44 Magnum.
What’s the process of making a G21 Super. Is it just a barrel swap with better chamber support, stronger striker spring, and 22lb guide rod?
A G21 will fire .45 Super with no mods, you just don't want to fire a lot. In general though, if you have a gen3 or less that can take a shock buffer, get one. Get an upgraded spring if possible to at least 20 lbs. A fully supported chamber is a good idea. That's all really.
@@GunSam Would one of those new designed SI shock buffers work? Have 2 laying around
Idk who makes the guns but im curious if 30 super cary is really better than 9mm
No. It's not.
It isn't and it doesn't try to be better cause it can't. The pressure is already high with the smaller case.
.380 ACP will also stay around cause it works well with blowback pistols. It allows for slightly more capacity in small pistols. About having an extended mag but flush in a grip that annoys you.
At this point only Smith &Wesson and Night Hawk are the only authorized manufacturer of guns
But I'll go out on a limb and make a prediction :
Performance. will overlap into 9mm territory .
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!
the take away is that mdf should not be used as body armor.
So I don't blame you if you don't want to do anything to them
Thanks for watching!
230 XTP is made for 45 ACP velocity not 45 Super velocity
The 250 XTP much is better for 45 Super at 1075 fps.
"Low Recoil" is false advertising. The Super did great!
Next video 44 mag v Glock handgun.
Sam's guns and his preferen.ces ( and his video editing preferences) It's not all th
Finger slipped prematurely .
Not all that distracting , I'm just greatful for his fine videos .
Sam is the most informative and useful Ammo Test Channel . since TNOutdoor9 retired from regular posting .
@@margarethouse404 agreed
As always very good video when did you get the.44 is it a S&w?
August, 2020 lol
GET A NEW GLOCK PLEASE SAM💯💯💯
I carry a revolver because I like to know I have " six for sure"..........( unless my glove gets stuck between the trigger and the trigger guard )🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Realistically I wouldn’t carry a 44 mag unless it had a 6 inch barrel and was ported.. I’m old. Lol
Apples to apples..
Get American 1911 pistol
Another reason I personally wont buy a glock
Once again, revolvers prove to be THE most reliable pistols. And glocks not. :)
Yeah but you need to get rid of that Glock maybe get different Glock I think you might have a lemon
But in a video nearly 6 months old, wouldn't it be likely that the issue has since been addressed and fixed?
Seems like Glocks are problematic for you lately.
Sam is downright Jinxed with Glocks .
I know people love glocks but I have read that an hk usp or hk 45 are much more reliable than any glock piece together conversion. And it can take the beating longer due to better recoil spring system. 45 super is awesome
