Adogg, please watch Stevie's Austin City Limits performance of Riviera Paradise. It was Stevie's transcendent masterpiece. Turn the lights down low & clear your mind. It was the last number they recorded on his triumphant return upon getting clean & sober. He once described it as a guitar praying. Reese Wynan's organ solo was magnificent, magical. The two really played off each other in this. Perfectly capturing the band's love for one another & their musical bond. It was to be his final recorded television appearance on Austin City Limits. Austin, Texas is of course, where Stevie Ray & Double Trouble was formed & came up from. Beautiful lighter side of this man's ability to channel & use his guitar to amplify what was inside his heart & soul. We can only imagine where he was taking his music from there. He died in a helicopter crash August 26 1990 after a show in East Troy, Wisconsin. Nobody has ever played with more command or passion.
Also, agree heartily with El Mocambo being an absolute must for you if you wanna see SRV, who had just put out his first record, absolutely in the element he was best to see, a night club with a largely unsuspecting audience not realizing what it was they were about to witness. His performance is up close and personal, as if you are there yourself. He does Voodoo Chile & Texas Flood like his very life depends on it. Remarkable & timeless performance that captures him at the very moment he is about to explode and make his name known to the whole world.

TIN PAN ALLEY. Stevie played this with the legendary Johnny Copeland Live. This is a must for your. So glad you've gone down this rabbit hole. Stevie loved Jimi Hendrix. You reacted to SRV doing Voodoo Chile. This was a Jimi Hendrix cover. You definitely need to react to Jimi Hendrix doing VOODOO CHILE and LITTLE WING. Stevie also covered this song. Jimi played at WOODSTOCK MUSIC FESTIVAL. Check out his guitar version of The Star Spangled Banner. It is one of the Iconic songs from that festival of over 1/2 a million people in 1969.
Great reaction, friend. Ain't Stevie Ray Vaughan out of this world?!! Texas Flood Live At The El Macombo - same song different night. He never played it the same twice. Longer solo, uninterrupted by broken strings. Check it out. I wouldn't hold it against you for reacting to this song twice -
There are actually a LOT of guitar players who can play behind their backs. But to answer your question, yes, yes he was. And this video wasn't even one of his truly amazing performances. I saw him do this song live in my hometown once. He turned it into a 20 minute long jam, and the heat was coming so hard off his guitar that I kept expecting the fire alarms to go off in the theater.
Yeah👏🙌👏🙌‼️. Couldn't click on fast enough. I subscribed to your channel when you did Voodoo Chile cuz I knew you would get back to Stevie quickly. When that bell went off I couldn't wait. This performance was at The 1989 Presidential Inaugural celebration. Yes he broke a string there, he does that a lot. The strength in those enormous hands of his manhandles the guitars and they beg for mercy. So there are so many mind blowing performances to list but my personal favorite is one that will tip you over permanently. It is a song he wrote after his his good friend Charlie passed away suddenly. It is called "Life Without You" performed at the Capitol Theatre. It has everything, changing out an out of tune guitar, tender vocals, wild riffs and runs, and even more surprises for you! I am looking forward to your reaction to that one in particular! And the number of views you got for reacting to Voodoo Chile in 6 days is mind blowing. You have a lot of subs already but the whole SRV gang must also be discovering you. Keep up the great work🎸🎶✌️😘🦋
Watched the entire video......now you've got to look at Pride & Joy, Superstition, Little Sister & my all time favorite, the House is Rockin'. Great job again Adogg.
I watched it all. We all miss Stevie. He learned by playing his brother’s guitar along to his brother’s blues records when he wasn’t home. Brother Jimmie, who’s onstage here playing rhythm guitar, has been opening ZZ TOP shows this summer, at least in Texas. I saw Jimmie Vaughan with his band Fabulous Thunderbirds open for ZZ TOP and The Rolling Stones at the Cotton Bowl on Halloween 1981, before I’d ever heard of Stevie, who I found out later was backstage. I was 16.
Do you want more from SRV? Check the live Performance "Life Without You" from Capital Theatre in Texas! Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the best guitar player in the world, R.I.P Stevie!
seeing the smile on this mans face watching Stevie made my week !! .. the joy in his face and his omments have made me a fan of his .. enjoy SRV Da Real Adogg !!!1
Great reaction video dude !! FYI, the guitarist the camera turned to while they were changing Stevie's guitar, is Stevie's brother Jimmie. Another awesome Texan blues artist, who played with the "Fabulous Thunderbirds".
“And that’s the blues from Texas”! Enjoyed watching the whole video with you. It’s always nice the see the young people’s mouths drop when he plays behind his back. It never gets old. Now, us Texans will PROUDLY say he’s the best guitarist of all time, but we may be a smidge biased. Do “Pride and Joy” by SRV. I think you’ll enjoy that one too.
Had the pleasure of seeing SRV several times in indoor/outdoor large and small venues. Can’t say Stevie was the best, but never heard anybody that I enjoyed better. RIP bro.
Stevie was a GIFT to us all. He almost died to addiction and came back. He made things right in his last years and that was a blessing for him and those around him. I saw him several times in concert and was amazed EVERY time. I LOVE his music but have to admit it still hurts to hear itand know he's gone. But, we're lucky we had him and its great to see some one else "discover" him. Enjoy!!
Stevie Ray was having an off night during that performance. The best version of this song was Live at El Mocambo. You owe it to yourself to watch it. Same song, completely different performance. It's so much better than this inaugural performance. 👌
While I agree that TexasFlood at El Mocambo is the better performance I don't think Stevie was having an off night at all. This was performed for the 1989 Presidential Inaugural Celebration and he was the headliner of a 2 hour celebration of Blues and Soul that featured many of the greats. Also why they were all wearing tuxes, required. So the time constraints heavily curtailed his chance to expand. I also agree that Adogg should at least watch, if not react, to that version.🎸🎶‼️
I was blessed to see Stevie Ray Vaughan 3 times and he was from another world and he had such a spiritual presence that I cant even explain it in words. He got sober relatively soon before he passed away. I saw the show the night before the accident. Still hard to be.
You need to listen to Jimi Hendrix play "Voodoo Child" that's his song! Jimi plays left-handed and he plays a right-handed guitar with the string's flipped and still tears it up!
Hey man you seem to be overlooking the fact he not only has a good voice he can sing, and play his guitar at the same time behind his back like it's a Sunday afternoon walk in the park, it's just a real miracle on earth, magic happening before our very eyes, the raw, emotional, so natural a talent he has is almost unbelievable like he's pulling off a magic trick that you can't believe is real. Alot of people also don't understand how great you have to be at playing your instrument to play and sing so effortlessly at the same time. You don't need any drugs or alcohol when you watch and listen to Stevie Ray cause he gives you a natural high that's unrivaled. I can't find the words to praise him enough. I'm a half ass, decent, inspired to learn by him, recreational guitar player that loves all the greats like Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Randy Roads, Eddie Van Halen and on and on but hands down if I was stuck on a dessert island forever and somehow magically I could pick one artist to listen to and somehow magically be able to play their records with solar energy or something, rechargeable batteries or whatever, I'd pick Stevie Ray. I haven't seen his biography but I've heard that he was a kind, gentle, humble, guy who was a good son and friend. What a tragedy he had to be taken from the world so young in a helicopter crash. I didn't even know him of course but it felt like I lost a friend when I heard he had passed on. R.I.P. Stevie Ray. You made the world better with your talent and humanity. You'll be missed by millions who loved you from a distance. Adios Amigo. ,
Watched all the way to end!!👍 And yes, he was the GOAT. You've already noticed why...no one & I do mean no one, then or to date, has been able to replicate his sound. I'm not sure if he broke a string, but he wasn't happy w/ the way his Number 1 guitar sounded up to the point he changed guitars. Because I knew him & have heard him live numerous times, it's easy for me to see that. I wasn't at this particular event tho. That was his brother Jimmie to his left in the gold jacket. (Check out Jimmie & his band The Fabulous Thunderbirds too!) Keep heading down that rabbit hole! He never disappoints!! Enjoyed this reaction..thx!
SRV is my number 1 all time concert performance. Sydney Australia at the Hordon Pavillion. Standing front and center, meters from the GOAT Totally mesmerised.
This is great but you have to do Texas Flood live at El Macambo version please!!! Listen to what we are saying! Lol 💕☮️. Then do Life Without You and Ain't Gon Give Up On Love both live at The Capitol Theatre!!!
The man who introduced him is also a guitar legend, the late Albert Collins. You should listen to some of his music. Try Frosty, I Ain't Drunk, or A Good Fool is Hard to Find.
I made it to the end and watched the entire reaction. I love that you were exposed him, and especially how much you appreciate him as a musician, player, bluesman, and his style. He was a one of a kind and absolutely amazing. I’m glad you’re a fan and can’t stop watching him. Your first video made me subscribe and can’t want to see all the things you react to. I was on a shrimp boat out of Craig Ak. in the mid 90's. When between strings of pots, I would go down in the "galley" and put a VHS tape of Stevie and Double Trouble on a paddle wheel boat on the Mississippi River. I NEVER wanted to go back on deck when the next string of shrimp pots came!
Da Real, you are right. Watch him means to love him. I had his music on CD, Cassettes and didn’t hardly ever listen to him. I bought a DVD and watched him play and haven’t stopped listening since. People that say he’s all right, need to watch him on stage. Thanks for the music.
Stevie Ray really dug deep into the blues bag when he recorded Buddy Guy songs such as Leave my Little Girl Alone, One word a slow blues master piece that burns with intensity and brilliance. It’s a blues guitarist lesson in taste tone and feel!
When it comes to playing guitar, there are so many ways to play, it's hard to say who's the best. But in this blues style, this is as good as it gets. Stevie ray is still my favorite. And I'm a hard rock/ hair metal fan
The best version of this song is at El Macombo you should check out life without you live at the Capital Theater and his guitar sound check where he is wearing a leopard coat and you gotta check out Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland
Stevie’s intro reminded me of when my daughter was about 4 or 5 and she came to see me perform at Berklee Music College. She said, “Mom, why do all the guitar players make sour faces? Some of the singers do it too,” 😂 🥰 Watched to the very end xoxoxoxxo
Look at Little Sister. Stevie breaks a string, still plays then does the smoothest guitar switch without missing a beat! th-cam.com/video/3woPVQExDsQ/w-d-xo.html
Yes hey I watched the entire video. Who doesn't when it comes to Stevie Ray? It only takes 1 or 2 times to get hooked on him. He's the master, the guitar hero. That's his amazing brother, Jimmy Lee next to him in the gold jacket. I can't get thru one single day without an SRV fix. It's really impossible. Really, not kidding. Keeps my soul intact, brings me joy. Stevie was a natural phenomenon, a true force of nature. I don't be there will ever be another quite like him, a real gift to this world. If ever a person and guitar were one entity, there they were. And from what I've heard of him, a wonderful human. (But a guitar Alien) RIP and in music, Stevie, we all have missed you.💔. ☮️. to all
Watched the whole video. I had the blessing of seeing him 6 times live before he died. I’m a music producer doing all styles from hiphop to classical and his playing is def an influence.
Hendrix never had the technology that, 10 years later, SRV and the guitar world would use. The PA systems sucked, the amps, the mikes, even cables sucked in comparison. SRV delivered the best versions he could using this improved technology, and I'm glad we have videos to see as well as listen to him.
I watched the whole thing with you Adogg and it was great! Check out his live version of this song from El Mocambo. Way more behind the back playing. He is the best ever. Jimi Hendrix is right there, but SRV has covered at least two of Jimi’s songs: Voodoo Child and Little Wing. The crazy part is that Jimi was left-handed, but Stevie is right-handed. So strings that were easy to reach for Jimi were farther away and tougher for SRV to reach. The man was incredible. RIP my Texas Brother.
I use to live in Austin TX , watched him live on 6th street in a small clubs and Austin city limits. What a show every time, you leave emotionally worn out.
SRV is my fav and I love the blues. This performance is at a presidential inauguration party which is why he is dressed that way. His brother is in the gold jacket. And yeah, he breaks those heavy gauge strings often. I'm here until the end.
So happy to watch your reactions to Stevie Ray. He died in a helicopter crash in heavy fog at Alpine Valley Music Theatre, only about 40 minutes from me. Planet Earth lost an incredible talent and Heaven gained one helluva blues guitarist. I enjoyed your reactions so much, you gained a new subscriber. Can't wait for more.
Adogg-I watched the whole video with ya-it’s so much fun seeing you beam with just the pure joy of loving music and enjoying one of my musical heros! I’m a lifelong drummer, down here in Texas-where SRV is legendary (and deeply missed!) He and Jimi Hendrix are the only 2 musicians Ive ever seen who just become ONE with their instrument-like a state of pure FLOW-like water poured into water-just downright spiritual!!! Keep groovin Adogg-love the channel 🤘🏻👍🏻

I'll never forget my daughter and her friend went to see Robert Plant in the late 80's and said Stevie Ray Vaughn was opening for him..my daughter loved Robert Plant but when they got home all she could talk about was SRV telling me that he swung his guitar behind his back and Robert Plant should have opened for him..he died before he came back to Philly so she only saw once but she still talks about it and she's 49..so yes she andI still think he was the best guitarist and we've seen many of the greats. I learned a trick that Stevie did when I was learning guitar...when the callous falls of your finger, Super glue it on.....I still do it. Heart of a lion is so fact.
Not only did he play it behind his back but before he got to his back he took his belt clip off and put it back on to the guitar and resume playing and then without a beat after his string broke he Change guitars and Went back at it
I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. The lineup was Eric Clapton, SRV, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. After the show I remember saying to myself that if SRV was ever in my area again I would never miss him. Little did I know that I would never have that opportunity.

Keep up the great work🎸🎶✌️😘🦋
I'm gonna go find that video now! That's one of my favs by him. Damn I cant wait 5 more seconds. THANK YOU!!!!
Beautiful well thought out response maam.
@@jowsmith1904 thank you Jow ✌️🦋
Watched the entire video......now you've got to look at Pride & Joy, Superstition, Little Sister & my all time favorite, the House is Rockin'. Great job again Adogg.
Always a joy watching someone see him for the first time. Long time SRV fan and this is the best performance of this song in my opinion. Great video!
Stevie Ray Vaughan was a legend and I'm glad you were finally able to be able to hear him and appreciate his genius
I don't know if he's the best but if I'm listening to Stevie my soul gets fed in way that no other guitarist can achieve...
The House Is a Rockin' is a great song!!
He’s definitely #1 on my list. The man is a legend.
You’re right! That’s Texas!
Had the pleasure of seeing SRV several times in indoor/outdoor large and small venues. Can’t say Stevie was the best, but never heard anybody that I enjoyed better. RIP bro.
Stevie been gone over 30 years. Damn I'm gettin old.
Enjoy!!
The GOAT, brother! React to the same song, live, El Mocambo! Life changing!
I don't know anyone who can do a stink face like that. What a legend. I feel him in my bones.
You know God is jamming with Stevie, Jimmie, Kurt, and Janice all performing for gim
It's great finding another youngster findin' & lovin' SRV, spread the word, man!
Stevie never had an off night.
@@tiffanypalmer9918 my first reaction too! What off night? Any guitar player would love to be that off!
There’s nothing off about this performance.
SRV is a legend. My family is from Texas and he was from Texas, I grew up listening to his music and he was excellent on that guitar! RIP and play on.
ABSOLUTELY 💯 . the greatest guitarist of all time.
The song I've used as a measuring stick for the talent of guitar players is "Little Wing" and SRV kills it. Check it out.
im in Texas right now with tears rolling down my face. sometimes music hits me that way
The man who introduced him is also a guitar legend, the late Albert Collins.
Please keep it up.
Loved your reaction... It's so wonderful to see young people like yourself, get turned onto SRV!!! Keep up the great work, (and Adogg, I watched the video to the end!!)
💗 💖 💘 💝 💟 ☮️ (P.S. You're one of us now!!!!!!)
You should react to Pride and Joy by Stevie Ray Vaughan!!! It’s my all time favorite song from him!!! He was very talented ❤️❤️❤️
Da Real, you are right. Watch him means to love him. I had his music on CD, Cassettes and didn’t hardly ever listen to him. I bought a DVD and watched him play and haven’t stopped listening since. People that say he’s all right, need to watch him on stage. Thanks for the music.
Yeah he broke a string, oh maybe the string just gave up and said I am out of here ,Stevie going crazy AGAIN, LOL
Love this, brother, and thanks for posting. Hands down my favorite SRV song; can't get through a listen without tears in my eyes.
The best version of this song is at El Macombo you should check out life without you live at the Capital Theater and his guitar sound check where he is wearing a leopard coat and you gotta check out Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland
Stevie was bad ass!! And yes I watched the full video of both your shows airing him. Thanks loved watching your expression
I don't know if anyone played guitar with more authority than SRV. I don't believe so.
Try Roy Buchannon
Stevie’s intro reminded me of when my daughter was about 4 or 5 and she came to see me perform at Berklee Music College. She said, “Mom, why do all the guitar players make sour faces? Some of the singers do it too,” 😂 🥰
Watched to the very end xoxoxoxxo
He’s incredible
Yes he did break a string, and never missed a beat. RIP Stevie, you are sorely missed!!!
☮️. to all
Check out some Jeff Healey, his cover of While my guitar gently weeps is amazing
Watched the whole video. I had the blessing of seeing him 6 times live before he died. I’m a music producer doing all styles from hiphop to classical and his playing is def an influence.
Jimi Hendrix was the profit and SRV was probably his best disciple.
Hendrix never had the technology that, 10 years later, SRV and the guitar world would use. The PA systems sucked, the amps, the mikes, even cables sucked in comparison. SRV delivered the best versions he could using this improved technology, and I'm glad we have videos to see as well as listen to him.
@@BuffaloC305 Agree Chuck! Jimi seemed to have complete mastery of the feedback he generated with that Strat and SRV said "hell ya!"
First time I saw Stevie was 1985 and I was right at the front of the stage. He was a man possessed. Operating on a whole different plane. RIP SRV
I started crying when I heard of his passing, what a wonderful talent. I miss him 😪
Same. THe helichopter crash ...
It is a rare occasion one has the opportunity to witness greatness. You just did! I was honored to go to 3 of his concerts, and I was awe stuck.
Love to see a new fan appreciate SRV for the genius he is
Also watched the whole video
I watch all..love your reaction..i love your excitement SRV is awesome
Stevie Ray Vaughan was a fellow Texan from Oak Cliff a suburb of Dallas. One of his idols was Albert King there's a video of Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan playing together it's badass
Stevie was 1 of a kind ..RIP SRV 💙
As far as this man is concerned there's no better guitar player ever than Stevie Ray was and is.Timeless...I remember when I heard of his passing in a helicopter crash.I couldn't comprehend it.Looking Back on it now it still doesn't seem real.. Anyway listen too him play the song "Tightrope" and "Pride an Joy" You won't be disappointed..Not that you have been so far..But Listen...☮️✌️🎼🎵🎶🎧🎸🎩
The man was an alien, a one-of-a-kind treasure he was so good the Lord had to take him back, he was too good for this Earth 🌍, I have always loved Stevie my whole life and I'm an old woman RIP to his beautiful soul 💗
I learned a trick that Stevie did when I was learning guitar...when the callous falls of your finger, Super glue it on.....I still do it. Heart of a lion is so fact.
Stevie died in 1990 at the age of only 35 in a helicopter crash. Can you IMAGINE what he could have accomplished if that had not happened?
Not only did he play it behind his back but before he got to his back he took his belt clip off and put it back on to the guitar and resume playing and then without a beat after his string broke he Change guitars and Went back at it
There’s not a single person that ever played better played better than Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was and is The GOAT. I’m glad you love him too.
You need to hear his song called "Can't stand the weather"
I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. The lineup was Eric Clapton, SRV, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. After the show I remember saying to myself that if SRV was ever in my area again I would never miss him. Little did I know that I would never have that opportunity.
